"You don"t look so good," commented Chamberlain as Carl stepped into his office."I thought after ditching me yesterday, you would be excited." He added one more sentence.
Carl ignored him, "Reporting for work."
Chamberlain guaged his reaction as he spoke, "My sister told me something funny yesterday, apparently you have a sister.
I didn"t know that… how did your parents manage to hide your sister?"
His eyes dancing with mischief.
Obviously, Chamberlain knew the said sister wasn"t really his sister but Kim. He couldn"t help but tease Carl.
Surprisingly, Carl"s expression did not change the slightest bit, "I just found out yesterday too," he shrugged.
Carl"s eyes were dull today, he noticed, just like that day at Blue Bell.
Now he knew the reason. He preferred when his eyes reflected nothing but warmth. Now, he seemed cold.
"Your current expression doesn"t suit you. But I see you"ve taken the rejection rather well.
When Bell told me, I a.s.sumed you would wallow in depression. I was prepared to scold you for having such a weak heart."
Carl totally ignored him, he was not in the mood to joke around with him.
"I"m sure you had a wonderful time with.. your fianceé." He commented. Trying to change the topic of conversation only to remind Chamberlain of how horrible he felt and the fact that he was left behind.
"It seems you would love to come along next time," he gritted his teeth.
He recalled that after Carl left, he had to accompany her to eat. She blushed at everything he said. It didn"t help the fact that he considered her a little girl.
His thoughts concerning her were only reinforced.
When they got home, he simply directed her to Isabella"s room. He was glad that Bell was not around to disagree with him.
So he happily went to his study. When he returned, Lena had moved into his bedroom and was lying on his bed while Isabella had shut her doors. He did not know whether to cry. If he forced her to leave, they might rat him out to his father so for the first time ever, he slept in his study.
His aching body was proof of his rough night.
"Maybe I should move out," he thought.
"May I leave, boss?" Carl asked.
Chamberlain immediately returned to the present, "How about we both move out and avoid these women?"
Carl rolled his eyes before turning to leave.
"I didn"t say you could go, we should think of a solution together.
She rejected you so seeing her would only remind you of the pain, in my case, I will be free of Lena for a few months maximum.
Don"t you think we would be the perfect roommates?"
Chamberlain"s plan to escape his fianceé sounded stupid to him. They would eventually get married. Why not get used to her than run away.
As for Kim, even though he said he had given up on her, it doesn"t change his feelings. How can he just avoid her? He liked seeing her, moving away wasn"t what he wanted to do.
"You"ll turn me into your chauffeur." Carl said before leaving his office.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.
Chamberlain watched as he went back to his desk. He wondered why Carl was so calm as if nothing happened.
Though, he had never loved anyone, he thought at least Carl"s eyes would be red from crying or he would be depressed. Thinking about how and why things went wrong.
Ring, ring.
He looked at his phone, the caller was his father. He wondered if Bell sold him out already.
"Father," he greeted.
His father did not bother to return his greeting as he went straight to the point, "Lena told me you treat her well.. Bella however told me you made them share a room."
"Father…"
"Shut up! She"s your wife, I do not wish to hear any more complaints from you. The wedding has already been scheduled for next month, pick a date to go collect the marriage certificate before the official ceremony."
His father did not wait to hear if he would accept or reject as he ended the call. His opinion did not matter too.
Chamberlain stared at his phone for a few seconds after the line went dead.
He could not believe it was really happening. All he wished for was to stay alone. Marriage was not something he really wanted, especially not with Lena.
He closed his eyes to rest for a moment.
He saw the image of Lena lying on the bed with her shorts, her hair disheveled. While she hugged his pillow, the blanket was on the floor. She looked so innocent and carefree in her sleep. He could not come to terms with the fact that he had to marry her and eventually have children with her.
That would mean, they would both see each other naked. Wouldn"t he lose face?
Then to do the actual act of making babies… he felt like a pervert.
He could never bare to touch her so intimately.
"Maybe I should just become a priest," he muttered.
