"My Lord, we are hearing some unbelievable rumors these days."

Shiv was in the courtroom for discussing the state affairs with his ministers. The abrupt statement from one of his ministers, raised chaos in his court. Everyone started talking among themselves about what they had heard.

"Silence!" Shiv"s single command made them all shut their mouths.

"What kind of rumor have you heard to disrupt the court in such a manner?"

The minister who talked earlier suddenly felt frightened as the cold sweat was evident on his forehead. He cleared his throat and answered Shiv.

"My Lord... We have... I mean, the citizens are feeling distressed about you carrying a human girl back to the palace personally and not to mention there are also some wicked rumors that the human girl bewitched our lord into marrying her..."

Shiv who was sitting high on the throne slammed his hand on the table in front of him. It sent shivers down their spines. Aditya who was present at the scene tried to calm him down.

"My Lord, you must not loose your temper here. It would only prove to their claim!"

The foxy ministers didn"t back down after seeing him acting up. The started being suspicious.

"If the rumors were false, why did you bring the girl to the palace personally. My Lord, are you sure you are not interested in that little human?" The foxy minister had a sly grin on his face as he questioned Shiv of his motive.

Shiv"s vein popped in his forehead hearing him talking about Ira that way. But taking Aditya"s words into consideration he couldn"t help but agree with him.

Those ministers were indeed sly and foxy. They never failed to grab the chance to taint Shiv"s name in any possible way. There were indeed a lot of power struggle within the palace. Though Shiv didn"t have any siblings to fight for the throne, the former queen"s family had always sought the throne.

Unfortunately the former queen was not able to conceive any children, their plan failed. But the queen"s elder brother planned on making his son the king by killing Shiv. His plan never worked.

"Yes My Lord. We have human shelter in our capital. What was your reason for bringing a human girl into the palace?"

Shiv was itching to talk back but he controlled his urge perfectly by maintaining a calm demeanor.

"Yes.. Half of the rumors are indeed true. I did bring the human girl into the palace. But she didn"t seduce me and we never got married. I didn"t hide her deep within the palace. But am merely treating her as an honored guest."

Hearing his explanation, the ministers once again disagreed with him and caused an uproar.

"My Lord. How could you invite a mere human as an honored guest? I am sorry to say this, but it sounds a bit absurd." The former queen"s brother was the only one who could dare to speak to Shiv in such a manner and get away with it.

"A mere human? Yes, you are indeed correct. She is indeed a mere human who saved the lives of our Prince Abi and Princess Araa. If it weren"t for that mere human that you spoke of, both our Prince and Princess would have been dead!"

The entire court fell silent.

"One more thing. I never obstructed anyone from visiting that human girl. She is our saviour. If anything had happened to them, then our country would have been subjected to the wrath of my Royal Aunt! That human girl you spoke so lowly of, was the one who unknowingly helped us from escaping all these troubles. Aditya, six days from now, we will set up a royal banquet in honor of Lady Ira. Get the things done!"

"Yes, My Lord!"

Every one of those ministers had their jaw hanging open in the air after hearing his command. They couldn"t talk back as his reasoning were sensible.

"Shiv. Why did you make such a rash decision by ordering a royal banquet for her? Did you think of the consequences of the people finding out about her ident.i.ty?" Aarav who came to hear the news immediately rushed into Shiv"s study and questioned him.

"Mm. I know what you are talking about. But this is the chance that I have been waiting for. I also know that it will not be easy to make both of our races come in terms with each other. But I am sure this will prove to be the first step in stopping this everlasting war between our races."

Aarav still couldn"t bring himself to agree to what Shiv said. Even though he also wanted both the races to co-exist peacefully, he thought that this move made by Shiv was very rash!

"Aarav. Believe me. I know this is rash. I know my plan could fail. But it is better than not trying anything. I don"t want to see anymore unreasonable deaths. Though it will be a tough battle. I hope you could help me through it."

Aarav finally gave into him.

"Yes, My Lord. I understand how serious you are about this matter. I will do whatever I can to help you. Besides, Ira is my cousin. How could I let her get hurt?"

"Thanks!" Shiv smiled at him with grat.i.tude.

"First, I want you to disguise Ira into a normal human. We must be careful in not getting her ident.i.ty exposed and one more thing make her look like she got wounded badly. That could help in gaining some sympathy and make our people aware that not all humans are evil."

"Yes, My Lord. I shall do as you command!"
