Chapter 341: The Overseas Rite of the Maoshan Sect
The short-haired girl looked at the long-haired girl and said, “Chu Yan’er, put your hands over your ma.s.sive chest and ask yourself, Was it me who got you in this situation?”
Lu Jiaxuan inherited a pair of beautiful eyes from her.
Lu Jiaxuan replied in a rather exasperated manner, “Hey, your dad said that you’re already 23, which is the perfect age to be with some guy. And your dad was the one who kept pestering me to introduce you to someone, all right?”
“So you know that guy then?” Chu Yan’er asked.
“No, I don’t. I just heard that he’s the son of one of the uncles in the clan. That uncle seems of decent background, being the boss of a listed company. I heard that he’s worth billions.” Lu Jiaxuan paused and continued, “Then again, I’ve never met the man, though from what I heard, his son looks handsome.”
“Just go and meet the guy. It’s not like you have anything to lose,” Lu Jiaxuan added.
“What’s the use of being handsome? In this current age, being handsome just makes the guy a plaything,” Chu Yan’er said dismissively. “The man I like could only be some ma.s.sive figure who could shake the world. Take the guy who attacked the White House in the US, for instance. Now, that is what I call a man.”
Chu Yan’er’s bright eyes glittered at the mention of the man who caused a huge commotion all over the world at the moment.
“Yeah, I heard that the US is in shambles now. It’s said that they don’t even have a vice president to be in charge of things and that they need to get on with reelection,” Lu Jiaxuan added.
“What a shame that the camera was too far away during the broadcast. I wasn’t even able to see what he actually looked like. h.e.l.l, why wasn’t there even a photo of him to be found anywhere?”
Chu Yan’er then said, “I heard online that it’s a sign of someone being an accomplished cultivator. They could hide their faces so long as they wish not to reveal it. That way, someone wouldn’t even be able to make out what these people look like even if they were to stand in front of them.”
“The only thing we know about him now is that he’s from Huaxia, but there are some blurry pictures of him.” Chu Yan’er then added, “I heard that the US is splitting apart. Most Americans want him dead, but some have actually formed some sort of cult to worship him like crazy. He truly is something special.”
The Lu Clan’s ancestral hall in the village was as rowdy as it could have been.
Every single person from the Lu Clan who was deemed doing well was currently in the hall.
A handsome young man in casual clothes was seen in the crowd with an adorable little girl in his arm.
Despite keeping a very low profile, their strikingly good looks had nonetheless captured a lot of attention from the crowd.
“Brother, I want some of that candy.” Guoguo sat at the table and pointed at the candies, which are not all that far away.
“Sure, I’ll fetch you a piece.”
Lu Xuan got her a piece of candy while playing with her. He had little interest in the ancestral worship event of the Lu Clan itself.
However, his father stood in the very first row among those joining the ritual. He looked sprightly and dashing in a full three-piece suit as he talked away with the big shots among the clan.
Before long, two attractive-looking women appeared before him.
One had short hair, and the other one had long hair. Both of them looked rather pretty.
The short-haired woman was straightforward as she said, “So you’re that uncle’s son, Lu Xuan, right? I’m Lu Jiaxuan, and my father is Lu Weiguo.”
Lu Xuan felt a headache right there and then, knowing that it was yet another of those “political arrangements” that his mother made for him. It was something that he was utterly powerless to change. Despite how much of a big deal it was to others out there and how he shocked the world, he had rarely ever thought about dealing with what his mother put him through.
He immediately recognized the woman before him. Among the political figures who emerged out of the Lu Clan, Lu Weiguo was considered to be at the highest status; he was an official at the provincial level.
“Charming indeed,” Lu Jiaxuan touched her face, feeling herself somewhat reddened.
She heard that the man she was going to meet would be so handsome, but never expected him to actually be that good-looking. The most notable thing about his appearance was that he lacked all that special aura or presence about him, which only served to make him look even more irresistible.
Lu Jiaxuan then said, “This is Chu Yan’er. I’m sure auntie would have mentioned her to you before your arrival.”
Lu Xuan nodded and replied, “She did.”
Chu Yan’er looked at Lu Xuan and said, “I’m here too because my elders told me to. But I’d have to make one thing clear—I’m a cultivator, and you’re an ordinary folk. We’re of different worlds, and the kind of person I like isn’t someone like you. Having good looks means little to me.”
She gauged Lu Xuan, finding him having loose muscles and not an ounce of energy reactions on him. No matter how she went about it, he looked very ordinary. As such, she was compelled to make it clear to him.
Lu Xuan nodded and asked nonchalantly, “So what kind of a person would be your type?”
Chu Yan’er was unable to determine Lu Xuan’s cultivation level and thought him only to be an ordinary folk. On the other hand, he was able to determine her level; she was a level six Martial Arts Legend.
The methods that she used in her training were none other than the basic methods that he developed.
It had not been long since he began propagating his basic methods. The fact that she was able to get to level six Martial Arts Legend so quickly would definitely make her a genius, at least in a broad sense of the word.
“My ideal husband would be someone like that guy who wrecked the White House, the guy who refused to back down despite facing off against the only superpower in the world. That is what I call a man,” Chu Yan’er elaborated bluntly. “So I’d like to apologize beforehand, for nothing could happen between us.”
“I understand.”
Lu Xuan was trying his best not to laugh. She had utterly no idea that the “ideal husband” that she just described was currently standing before her.
However, he nonetheless thought little of it. After the live broadcast of what happened back then, he gained countless fans. Some of them even formed cults dedicated to worshipping him as a G.o.d.
Upon discovering that Lu Xuan had no intention of tangling with her, Chu Yan’er sighed a breath of some sort of relief.
“Yan’er, there you are!”
Someone suddenly entered at that moment, standing between Lu Xuan and Chu Yan’er.
Her eyebrows twitched slightly when she saw that man and asked, “What are you doing, Lu Zhengqing?”
The man, who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere suddenly, looked to be in his late twenties. He wore a white suit and had his hair combed in a trendy manner, making him look rather dashing and stylish.
“Are you telling me that you forgot that we were of a branch of the Lu Clan as well? Well, we did leave the country before it was established, but we still have to be present at the event now.”
Lu Zhengqing smiled and explained.
“As such, you can say that I’m half a host to this place. Since you’re here, I see fit to do my part as the host.”
“Lu Zhengqing, your branch of the clan has already been out of the country for generations, and yet here you are, playing host to the place,” Lu Jiaxuan pouted somewhat. It was apparent that she behaved rather dismissively towards the man.
Lu Zhengqing then explained to Chu Yan’er rather feverishly, “Didn’t you always wanna train? How could you possibly benefit from the basic method you’re using in your training? By the way, I’m back with my master, who is of the true lineage of the overseas rite of the Maoshan Sect. Being very formidable, he’s already at Celestial Realm as we speak.”
