Chapter 24.1 - Hitting your own face
“What do you mean who told this countess? This countess saw it for herself!” Countess of Chaoxia stared at Lou Qingwu.
She didn’t plan to drag Lian’er little sister into this, as if the Countess of Chaoxia needed a reason to give someone trouble!
“Really?” Lou Qingwu obviously didn’t believe her.
Her eyes fell on Countess of Chaoxia’s face, fell on the Xiahou Liuyun who had already walked close enough and her smile deepened.
She warmly spoke, “But if it was the countess who saw it for herself, how did the countess differentiate this gown and see that it is really the ‘soft silver lily gown’? After all,” Lou Qingwu paused for a moment before she looked at the Lou Lianxin who had begun to look uncomfortable.
“This ‘soft silver lily gown’ was an imperial concubine’s outfit from many years ago, there are very few people who would recognise it immediately.”
“This …” Countess of Chaoxia choked, how would she know? She turned around to look at Lou Lianxin.
Lou Lianxin immediately stepped forward.
How would she know that Lou Qingwu would suddenly ask this type of question?
She stubbornly spoke, “‘Soft silver lily gown’ uses silver thread to embroider veined lilies, the clothes lapels are also embedded with shiny pearls, and your current outfit has pearls on the lapels as well as veined lilies. So that’s evidence.”
Lou Qingwu waited until she finished speaking before laughing, “Little sister really knows this very clearly.”
Her soft words which floated on the wind were like a hard, fiery slap on Lou Lianxin’s face.
Not good, she fell into Lou Qingwu that sl*t’s trap! She shouldn"t have said that!
Even though this lily gown was the palace’s holy imperial object, it was still just an ordinary palace outfit.
And after so many years, she actually knew the details of it so clearly, isn’t this her hitting her own face?
Furthermore, what type of little sister would pick at her own big sister’s outfit?
If they had a sincere friendship, the little sister should help conceal any mistakes and definitely not tattletale on the big sister.
Eyes from all four directions stared at her and stung, making her uncomfortable.
But she didn’t have enough time to make up an excuse before hearing Lou Qingwu laugh as she pet her lapels.
The fine pearls on the lapel were all shiny and translucent, extremely eye catching as everyone’s eyes couldn’t help but be stuck on them.
Then Lou Qingwu slowly opened her mouth, “Little sister is really clear on this but there’s a point that little sister doesn’t know. These pearls aren’t evidence of the gown but the silver embroidery of lilies is.
But little sister didn’t look clearly before telling Countess of Chaoxia because on big sister’s body aren’t lilies but clivias. They used darker threads to embroiden them and adding upon the gown itself, which is white, could possibly be the reason why little sister you … saw it incorrectly?”
After she finished speaking, some people couldn’t help but take a closer look.
It really wasn’t some palace outfit, it was just an ordinary gown.
The gown had used some darker threads to form clivias so they weren’t lilies at all.
The eyes on Lou Lianxin and the Countess of Chaoxia turned strange.
But the countess was a countess after all and they didn’t dare to offend her so obviously.
This meant that they all turned to look at Lou Lianxin, using their eyes to show their mocking and contempt.
During the day, they had just heard about how she had schemed and plotted against her older sister a few years ago and now at night, this happens.
If it was the Lou family’s eldest miss who had accidentally worn a palace outfit from many years ago, no one would’ve noticed if Lou Lianxin hadn’t pointed it out.
But not only did she point it out, she also used the Countess of Chaoxia to rip off her legitimate sister’s clothes.
These intentions were quite vicious!
The n.o.blewomen who still had good friendships with Lou Lianxin couldn’t help but take a few steps back, fearing that one day even they’d get secretly schemed against.
At that time, ruining their reputation would be the best outcome.
At worst, they’d lose their lives for no reason at all and that would be a huge loss.
Furthermore, she was just concubine born and if it wasn’t for the Ruan family behind her back, she wouldn’t even be able to show her face here, nor enter their social circle.

TL Note:
Picture is of clivias which do look a lot like lilies. Probably guessing that LQW got some people to embroider a few lines to make them different?
Leave a comment and to see how LLX acts pitiful to the countess tomorrow xx
