Chapter 184.1 - Red scorpion voodoo worm
Everyone’s attention was drawn by Ruan Zhen’s sharp shriek.
No one paid attention to the dark little thing that flew out of Ruan Zhen’s sleeve and onto Chi Mei’er’s bleeding hand.
It quickly burrowed inside the wound and disappeared without a trace.
Chi Mei’er’s hand felt a bit uncomfortable so she lifted up her hand to take a look but she only saw a red gash, there wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.
But seeing that it had broken skin and started bleeding, her brows furrowed.
“Ah! Mei’er little sister, your hand’s bleeding!” Ruan Zhen turned to face her and exclaimed.
She quickly grabbed her hand, apologising profusely, “It’s all my fault! If I didn’t dodge, I wouldn’t have b.u.mped into you!”
Everyone’s eyes followed hers as they looked at Chi Mei’er’s hand.
But they quickly looked back at Ruan Zhen’s burnt red and swollen hand, in comparison, Ruan Zhen’s hand looked more seriously injured than Chi Mei’er’s.
Just looking at Ruan Zhen’s hand meant that Chi Mei’er couldn’t throw a fit, after all, Ruan Zhen couldn’t have purposely schemed for her hand to be like that.
“Big sister’s joking, how could I blame you? You didn’t do it on purpose.”
“Why haven’t you gotten the doctor here yet?!” Lou Qufeng angrily slapped the maidservant who spilled the tea.
The maidservant staggered backwards, her hand holding onto her face as she quickly ran out.
This meal was originally peaceful and harmonious but with this interruption, no one was in the mood to chat any more.
The two madams waited for the doctor to come before leaving for their own pavilions.
And the Lou Lianxin that had been pretending to be invisible, finally waited for a servant from the Li residence to come and collect her back.
And so, the curtain fell on tonight’s family banquet.
On the way back to the Leaning Wind Pavilion, Lan Bai asked, “Master, it doesn’t seem like the second madam did anything? How is she going to blame the fourth madam’s miscarriage on you?”
Lou Qingwu was silent for a long time before she looked at the darkness ahead of her, “Wait until tomorrow.”
The next morning, the fourth madam’s maidservant came to the Leaning Wind Pavilion.
She said that the third miss had learnt a new song and wanted Lou Qingwu’s help.
At the same time, she also wanted Lou Qingwu to help her take her pulse, to see if the pregnancy was steady.
“Master, why would the fourth madam get you to go over now? Are they going to scheme something?” Lan Bai asked after the maidservant left.
“Fourteen hours, hmm …” Lou Qingwu looked up at the sky as she sighed to herself.
Lan Bai thought about the time needed for the voodoo worm to work as her face changed, “Master, we can’t go over there now and fall into the second madam’s trap.”
“No need, if she wants to die, I’ll gladly help her. Is there anything I can gift them from the Leaning Wind Pavilion?”
This was the first time that she had set foot in the fourth madam’s Fragrant Plum Park so naturally, she had to prepare a present.
“Everything in the residence is organised by the second madam so whatever is given to us is just stuff that’s leftover. I’m always wary of the second madam scheming against us so I never keep anything that she sends over. So there isn’t anything that we can gift apart from the imperially bestowed gifts when master was t.i.tled a countess. There’s a lot of silk and brocade, there are tens of rolls. It’s all in the residence’s store room.”
“Oh? Then get a dozen of them and send them over.”
“Yes! I’ll go do that now.”
Lan Bai turned around and left.
But Lou Qingwu seemed to have thought of something as she called out, “Wait …”

TL note:
This might have been forgotten but the fourth madam has a nasty daughter called Lou Yun’er.
Lou Qufeng has three daughters but no sons, so he’s quite keen on Chi Mei’er’s unborn baby.
