She wandered around the campus with Hikaru in front of her. She wondered if any of this was right. She caused too much trouble on her second day just like the first one. She doesn"t have anything better to do than cause problems.

Hikaru stopped on his tracks. She knocked against his back and fell down on the floor. She sucked in her breath. "Sato, I don"t know what to do," she said. She shook her head and hung it down. She remained on the floor unable to pull herself up. She wanted to cry but, she couldn"t. Someone was there and, she hated it.

"What is there to do?" He emphasized. He searched around his surroundings. No one was around to mock fun at them but, it was better than having the poor girl to sit on dirt. He lifted her up and, brought her over to the nearest bench. They were back at the courtyard where a fountain was in the center made out of bamboos surrounded by water lilies and a garden of irises.

The sounds of trickling water gave comfort to Eika. It contrasted the melancholic melodies replaying inside her head. She sat down at the bench and Hikaru was next to her. They didn"t exchange words. They just sat there in silence like the air was enough to say the need for comfort.

"Why am I even here?" Eika asked herself. She rubbed her palms together and stared out into building with different students laughing and teasing with each other. All of them had specific dreams, reasons, and motivations for being here. She had none of that.

"Hey! We talked about this already!" Hikaru said. He flailed his arms and shook her shoulder. He made a silly face but, Eika didn"t laugh at him. He closed his mouth and leaned back on the chair.

"I know that," Eika spoke up. "But today felt like, a mess," She lowered her head and dusted her jogging pants from Sports cla.s.s. They haven"t had time to change and, it"s 1 pm in the afternoon. The day was about to be over and, by tomorrow she could be eliminated.

"Look, man, we have 365 days, and today is just the 2nd day! There are more days to come and, it gets better!" Hikaru balled his hands into a fist. He nudged Eika on the arm. She didn"t budge and, she stopped his hand from doing another hit.

"But tomorrow could be my last," Eika argued. She gripped tight on Hikaru"s arm. She held onto her gaze and, Hikaru leaned away from her hair. He wasn"t willing to give up as she expected though.

"Oh? So you"re leaving the project that Mr.Kang, Nel, sir asked us to make?" Hikaru raised a brow. Eika"s grip on his wrist loosened. Her eyes expanded in shock and moved away from him. She slapped her hands on her lap.

"No," She denied. She dug her hands on her pants. She rocked back and forth in thought and, Hikaru grinned to himself. He caught her right where he wants it.

"No," He pointed at her. "You said tomorrow could be your last, so you"re saying that you are definitely leaving me with the project alone," He urged, more like teased her into it. Eika gasped and, she stood up from the bench. She caught up to him and pulled him back by the hand.

"Are you stupid? Why would I leave you?" Eika blurted out and, Hikaru shifted his body to face her and, he flicked her forehead with a minimum amount of strength.

It"s funny how he said she was leaving the project. He didn"t mean she was leaving him.

"See? Tomorrow ain"t your last," He beamed at her. Eika shoved him off and turned around. Somehow her surroundings were too cold. She"s shivering and, she couldn"t tell why.

Why does he believe in a person he only met for two days? h.e.l.l, why does she believe in a person that"s too weird for her own taste? Was there something wrong here?

"Okay, what about you? What if you"re in the bottom of the ranks and tomorrow could be your elimination, what would you do?" Eika turned to him and folded her arms. She leaned in close to him antic.i.p.ating for his answer. Hikaru simply smiled like a child and threw his arms behind his head.

"I would ?? something about it instead of whining," He smirked and, Eika squinted her eyes at him. Was this kid mocking her? Oh, sorry. She called him a kid. They seem to be the same age yet, he seems like he wanted to pick a fight. She took a deep breath and exhaled. Her mother"s traits are getting through her head. She"ll never be in her heads.p.a.ce. Ever!

"I am not whining," Her voice cracked and, Hikaru gave an "oh-yes-you-do" grin. Oh, that does it. No cinnamon buns for this guy in weeks! Months! Maybe a whole year! Take that! Who"s the kid here now?

Of course, it was her.

"But look, can you at least see the bright side?" Hikaru encouraged her. He pulled her away from the courtyard and, they climbed upstairs all the way to the second floor. They stopped in front of the music hall and, he opened the door to their cla.s.sroom. Their next cla.s.s was music. There was no trouble.

"You"re still here," He said. He looked out the window and, Eika saw the horizon of an endless sparkling ocean. She remembered they were secluded on an island embraced by the tranquil waters. She made it all the way here by herself. She remembered the events of yesterday"s cla.s.s. She recalled the days when she was still in Canada alone in a room.

Now, she"s here in this world that"s largely different from her own.

"You"re here, I am here, and we"re still okay!" Hikaru spread out his arms. Eika rested her hands on the window wanting touch the ocean far from her. Now, that she thinks about it. She has never been to an island before. She was just secluded in a place surrounded by trees.

She leaned her head on the gla.s.s window. Ah, she feels stupid. She never felt this stupid ever since she was at home. It"s all thanks to this "friend" of hers.

Someone opened the door from behind them. A man with ruffled hair with a clipboard on his hand and a guitar case strapped around him peeked inside the room. It was their teacher, Mr.Kang.

"What are you doing here? It"s too early for my cla.s.s," He yawned. He walked over to his desk and, Hikaru"s eyes glowed as a puppy had seen his owner return from home.

"Mr.Kang, Nel, sir! Please! Tell us the time you encountered a samurai manager from another idol group!" Hikaru squealed. He pulled out a chair from the corner of the room and sat in front of him. Eika sighed and slapped her forehead whenever Mr.Kang is around the young raven boy couldn"t help but be a fanboy.

It reminded her when she was young. She was listening to Howard and her father"s self-composed music. She remembered singing along with them in the second chorus after hearing it for the first time. She knew she was excited whenever they told her exciting stories about how they became friends.

"Jane Eika! Come on! You"re gonna miss this!" Hikaru called her over and, Nel squinted his eyes at him. "Mr.Sato, I didn"t exactly say I was going to tell the story-"

Eika looked back at the ocean one last time before she headed toward to Mr.Kang and Hikaru to listen to whatever story that both of them had to share.

She is glad she"s still here.

Mei Qian slammed the door behind after she left the prefect"s office. She stomped her foot at the red carpet went to the next hall. She ruffled her hair in frustration. G.o.d, she hates that woman! Who does she think she is?

She took out the student complaints from her pocket. They all said the same thing. "She"s too scary." "She keeps glaring."

She crumpled the paper and shoved it down on her pocket. She ran outside of the academy to cry alone in the field. She lowered her head and rested it on her knees. She sobbed out ugly tears and wiped them away with her arms.

She could hear someone"s footsteps behind her. "Get away!" She yelled, she didn"t care who it was behind her. She sniffed and, she saw a handkerchief offered to her. She looked up to find the frail boy from Haewon"s office.

"Sorry but, Ms.Jeong sent me here," The frail boy still held out the handkerchief to her. It took a while before Mei Qian s.n.a.t.c.hed it off his hands. She used it to wipe her tears but, she still kept on crying.

"You"re supposed to say you"re worried or something!" Mei Qian blurted out. She lowered her head again and, the frail boy scratched his cheeks. He sat down beside Mei Qian.

"I am in no position to worry for you, Ms. Qian," The frail boy spoke up and, Mei Qian ignored him. She cried to herself and, the frail boy shrank on his seat.

"Right. No one cares anyway!" She threw her arms in the air. She wiped her tears with the handkerchief. She rubbed her eyes harder to prevent it from crying more tears.

"Ah! Ms.Qian, you"re hurting yourself!" The frail boy exclaimed. He stopped Mei Qian"s hand but, the girl pushed him off of her. He was knocked down on the ground in defeat.

"Half of those accusations were just about how I look! You would never understand how I feel!" Mei Qian embraced her knees. She looked over to the frail boy. She yelped and pulled him up from the gra.s.s. She dusted off his sweater and fixed his hair. "Are you okay? Are you okay?" She asked. The frail boy fixed his crooked gla.s.ses and nodded.

Mei Qian placed her hand on her chest, "Good," She breathed out. She went silent for a moment until she stood up from the gra.s.sy fields and walked out on her own. The frail boy got up on his feet and stopped Mei Qian from leaving. When he pulled Mei Qian to face him. He saw her eyes burst to tears she"s been trying to hide.

"Ms. Qian, I do know what it feels like, no one sees me past my figure," He admitted and, Mei Qian lifted her head to look at the eyes that are hiding behind his bangs.

"Who are you?" She asked.
