There was something peculiar about the thick fog in Dulin forest. Walking through the mystical forest, one could feel both the humidity in the air and also the hot and dryness of the weather.
Fine water droplets layered the knights" cloaks and armors. Nevertheless, having to carry those heavy equipment in the blazing hot weather still made them sweat profusely. Traveling in this weather was not a pleasant ch.o.r.e.
After traveling out of Westberg Fort, His Royal Highness Prince"s convoy turned into a small country road in the outskirts of Dulin, as that was the main route to access the east of the capital. Although the emperor and the ministers have been discussing their plan to renovate the road to become bigger and wider, nothing has changed in this trail for many years.
In fact, this road was not the only route to get to the east. In the north of Dulin city, a new national highway could reach the eastern part of the empire too. However, this road led northward to the Pomerania Province first before it unfolds toward the east. If the prince chose to travel by this road, then their journey would be delayed at least by an extra three days.
The troop soon entered the forest outside the jurisdiction of the capital Dulin. The forest was extremely large, and most importantly, it does not belong to anyone, which is almost a miracle in t.i.tan today. Unexpectedly, there were no aristocrats competing against each other to have control over this piece of land that was rich with resources.
Almost every piece of land in t.i.tan has been a.s.signed with a certain degree of value. Lands filled with resources that could bring forth fortune such as mines, forests and lakes have almost all been occupied by different aristocratic families. Although ordinary people can choose to be free citizens or tenants of the lands, the tenants of t.i.tan were not any more powerful compared to the serfs of the other kingdoms in the west, and the same applied to the free citizens. The richest and most profitable lands were usually taken over by the imperial royalties and aristocrats, and the land handed over for free citizens to cultivate were usually either located in the far-flung borderlands or were extremely barren.
It was not certain why this extraordinary piece of land was spared from being taken control of. When Oscar initially learned that it was still an unclaimed land, he thought of calling it his own, but this young fatty later realized that his possession of a forest would undoubtedly attract more hostile forces against himself in the capital. Hence, he only fancied that idea for a short while and quickly dismissed it.
The prince had no choice but to focus his attention on the forest. His previous attempts in trying to start a conversation with the princess had failed miserably. Her Royal Highness Princess Alanis did not intend to communicate with him at all. He felt like his presence in the carriage was like a disgusting annoyance.
"Alanis, did you not just celebrate your adult ceremony? That is to say you are already an adult, so would you please forgive me? You do not want this to continue throughout the journey, do you? Just say something, even if it"s just a mere h.e.l.lo?" Oscar"s sounded sincere. He knew he would never be forgiven if he did not seem desperate.
"Hmm," The princess raised her beautiful eyelash and finally looked at the prince for the first time in the whole morning.
"Oh! Your voice is wonderful to the ear! Would you please try it again?"
Alanis looked at the helpless prince and sighed gently. She was no doubt in a very bad state of mind at the moment. She finally realized the problem between the prince and herself, and that was she had overestimated how much she meant to the prince. Her pa.s.sionate heart that was filled with deep feelings of admiration was not reciprocated by the young man she was trying so hard to reach.
"You should be able to see that I do not mean to say nothing. I really do not think I should say anything, and this is my answer. Do you think it is possible for us to communicate in such condition?"
Oscar scratched his nose clumsily. He did not know how to comfort the princess, and he had no idea how to start. It was a grave mistake that he left the princess all alone in public and wounded her pride for the sake of another woman.
Once again, the prince casted his gaze on the forest outside the cart window. The vast forest, filled with thick fog, was blurry and obscure, just like the princess" unpredictable heart.
A weird sound of a bird chirping caught the attention of Kamille Rayen, who then rode his horse a few steps to the side of the road and raised his s.h.i.+eld, which was previously rested on the saddle.
Suddenly, a thin sound of a shooting arrow rustled through the forest. When the knights responded to the direction of the sound, a shaking feathered arrow was seen mounted on the paladin"s s.h.i.+eld. Strangely, the Narcissus Knights pretended that nothing happened and immediately returned their gazes back to the road and hurried in silence.
The feathered arrow was tied with a small note. That was the method of communication between the Narcissus Knights and its scouting squad. The reports or information will be sent back to the main troop briefly every half an hour, and each time the method used to pa.s.s the notification would be different. Among the main troops, different people would be a.s.signed at different times to receive these notifications to effectively confuse the enemy so they would not easily recognise the team commander. On real battlefields, the leaders and men in command were usually the first ones to be shot by snipers of the rangers.
Kamille looked at the scout"s report. He really started to admire those people from the Ministry of Justice.
"Your Highness!" The colonel knocked on the window of the princess"s carriage. Shortly after, Oscar"s round head popped out of the window.
"Someone has been really interested in our troop since last night."
The prince understood that Kamille meant the men from Ministry of Justice that they encountered the night before. He closed the small window and turned his attention back to the princess. "Alanis, there are some matters waiting for me to handle and I"m afraid I cannot accompany you for the rest of the trip anymore."
Alanis nodded so slightly that Oscar almost thought she did not hear him. He involuntarily scratched at his itchy nose again as the princess took out a book from behind and started reading, as if Oscar already left the carriage.
The prince jumped out of the carriage swiftly while the carriage was still moving steadily. He did not request the troop to stop as he did not want others to notice his actions.
The well-trained Narcissus Knights moved forward like nothing happened. In fact, they could not perform any actions without receiving orders from their commander or master.
Soon enough, G.o.dot, King of Sins, the Hedgehog, Oscar"s coachman, Ricky the Liar, and the Poison Doctor, all these people who came out together from Damorga prison left their initial positions and gathered around in a secluded spot hidden in the woods. The convoy had already gone ahead.
"What happened?" The King of Sins" eyes shone with excitement, he knew something big was about to happen.
Oscar stared at him angrily. "I"m surprised you have the guts to ask. All of us here are now thinking of ways to clean up the s.h.i.+t that you and G.o.dot have left behind. The mess you created was so huge I"m afraid even with our numbers we can"t finish cleaning it."
"Yes, there are fourteen people on the other side, and we absolutely have to do more cleaning than expected," Kamille felt the atmosphere became tense after he spoke. He noticed all the criminals looked at him in a suspicious light.
"Uh…I meant to ask, do you mind if I join the mission?" Although the young paladin has a fiery side, his experience of getting in and out of the battlefield led him to know that he was currently facing a bunch of cruel murderers. Kamille felt a little scared when they all casted their gazes on him, to be honest. He always thought the prince"s followers were some very easy-going men, but now it seemed that he might have thought wrongly.
The criminals turned their attention to Oscar, this little guy was the head of the group after all.
Oscar looked calmly at the crowd, and finally he turned to the paladin, "Colonel Kamille Rayen, can I trust you?"
Without a second of hesitation Kamille knelt to the ground, "The 17th generation of the Rayen family Paladin Kamille is always ready to dedicate his life to you, Your Highness."
"Alright, get up, knight, and I"ll reintroduced my men to you again," Oscar helped the kneeling paladin to his feet.
"This is Damorga"s infamous ax murderer, G.o.dot. You must have heard of this one here, the King of Sins of the West, Doramy Basinger," The man humbly greeted the young paladin.
Oscar went two steps forward as he came to Ricky, "This is our butler, Ricky the Liar, who organized a fake diplomatic corps and is under arrest from the Faran Kingdom. This is Poison Doctor, or Percy, as you wish. And this, he is your senior, Paladin Sarlat. He is also called the Hedgehog."
"Well, Your Highness, and this?" Narcissus Knights leader Kamille Rayen was facing the last person whom the prince had not yet introduced, and instinctively his hand hovered over the hilt.
Oscar paused for a moment, unsure of what to say. He knew that when a Narcissus knight encounters a Persian man with a machete, there would be nothing more to say than to pull out the sword. In fact, the colonel"s reaction was not even excessive.
"Calm down, this is Wozakad Elladan, but Kamille, you have to know that no matter who he was before, he is now only my coachman."
Wozakad raised his hand and rested the machete across his chest. Kamille knew that it was a gesture to show courtesy, but the paladin also knew that the prince"s coachman was by no means an ordinary machete warrior. This man standing in front of him was much stronger than those he encountered on the battlefield.
The young paladin released the hilt and nodded slightly toward the machete warrior. The prince was right, and the warrior was only a coachman now.
Everyone was relieved. Narcissus Knights" cruelty and persecution toward the Persians was widely known across the continent. Everyone was worried that this young Narcissus Knight might do something beyond control. However, if any real conflict actually broke out between them both, they would surely stand on the side of their prison mate, who proved himself to be a really worthy friend.
Oscar also relaxed when the tension in the atmosphere was relieved.
"Well, now that everybody knows each other, Kamille, why don"t you brief us all on our current condition."
Paladin squatted down and picked up a short branch and began drawing a basic map on the sand.
"We are right here, and they should now be about a kilometer away from here," Kamille tried explaining using the figures he drew on the sand, but he knew these super-prisoners would not understand anyway. "My scouting squad scared them so they will not get close to the convoy. Well… they have fourteen people, lined up in a loose formation, just like the typical formation taught in cavalry textbooks."
Oscar pondered for a short while before coming up with a decision. "Doramy, I remember one of the criminal formulas that you taught me was, "wipe your mouth after eating on the sly, and kill the eyes after taking a life"."
Doramy was proud of his favourite pupil and laughed happily.
"Then we should lend them a hand on their journey home! I do not want to be blocked outside of my own house again the next time I return to Dulin."
Everyone nodded as a signal that they understood the command. At the sound of Kamille"s whistle, two knights came rus.h.i.+ng toward them from afar, leading eight horses behind them.
After the two knights pulled to a halt, the others finally noticed that on the back of those horses were various weapons.
Doramy cheered at the gifts, "Aha! Kamille, you are definitely a thoughtful guy." The King of Sins chose a good saber from among the various weapons. He spent some time north as a horse thief and he was clear of the terrifying things this toy could do to people.
Oscar frowned at the sight. Like Doramy had praised him earlier, Kamille was sensitive and also observant of people around him. Looking at the young prince"s troubled expression, he immediately realized the problem.
"Your Highness, this is Kaga and Johanne. They are the knights of Rayen family and they joined the cavalry the same time as me."
Oscar nodded, "So the knights of the Rayen family are also my knights, is that right?"
Paladin Kamille Rayen hesitated this time, they were not talking just about allegiance now. The Rayen family could be regarded as a prominent big family in Narcissus County. However, Kamille felt that following the young prince did not violate the knightly spirit and his family tradition, and he was quick to find the answer that had long remained in his heart. It seemed that following the prince was more likely to bring him closer to a bright future.
"Yes, Your Highness, you can say that that is a fact."
Oscar was especially satisfied for getting Kamille"s confirmation. While the others were busy picking their weapons, he did not choose one for himself because he believed he would not have to deal with the fourteen people himself.
After a brief moment, they finally settled with their choice of weapons. G.o.dot picked an immensely heavy Tomahawk, Hedgehog Sarlat hooked on his waist seven rapiers, while the coachman selected a few throwing axes. Any guesses on what Ricky the Liar Extraordinaire chose? Oscar looked at him warily, and the young prince had never heard of which Kung Fu Ricky was master at.
Ricky skilfully examined a four-foot bow like a professional. He stretched the bow string and inspected carefully the whole handle riser section. It was undoubtedly a perfect bow made out of precision. Ricky also picked up a belt-quiver filled with arrows before taking a swift leap back onto the horse.
Kamille and the two other Narcissus knights remained silent, as the real warriors were trained to treat any battle with incomparable seriousness. They only loaded themselves and their horses lightly with minimum equipment and all the other things irrelevant to the battle were thrown to the ground. They prepared themselves with a real knight"s standard equipment, which included two-meter long guns, wide-blade knight"s swords and heavy iron s.h.i.+elds. The s.h.i.+eld was painted with bright Narcissus flowers, but at this time it was very well covered with soil and dust.
The forest was extremely quiet and the knight squadron sent forth a heavy murderous force. Although only three of the warriors were proper legitimate soldiers, every one of them in the group was no doubt a great murderer.
At that moment, Oscar appeared a little awkward. He was staring blankly into a handsome, claret-coloured warhorse.
The first person to realize the problem was indeed the understanding paladin. He lifted his face armor and looked at the young prince. "Your Highness, are you…"
Oscar touched the st.u.r.dy neck of the purebred Raytheon stallion. He hesitated before answering. After all, the young man still cared about his face, but also knew that it was definitely not a matter he could get along with without admitting his weakness.
"Yes, you"re right. I… I do not ride!"
Everyone was astounded at this new knowledge about the young prince. How could the leader of a cavalry not know how to ride? Now it was not only Oscar, but these men already riding on the horses felt a little bit embarra.s.sed too.
"Hey! You guys know that there are a lot of military dogs in Damorga, but stallions? Not so much. I"ve not even touch them once before. Have you all not noticed that I only travel with a carriage?"
Kamille felt that they could not afford to waste any more time. In order to keep their action confidential, he withdrew all the scouts along the way, and those gentlemen from Ministry of Justice were now almost catching up with them. Paladin put down the face armor. "Kaga, take care of His Highness, if His Highness was in any way injured, I believe you should know better the consequences."
Kaga apologized to the Highness before grabbing the young prince onto the back of his horse and held him tightly in his arms. In the arms of the big knight, young Oscar looked no different from a little kid.
The young paladin looked at the crowd to make sure everyone was ready, and he was the first one to set off with his stallion. Within seconds, all the other riders disappeared in the gradually thinning mist one by one.
The sergeant of the Fourteenth Criminal Investigation Team of the Ministry of Justice was somewhat impatient with the complaints coming from his comrades-in-arms, but he was persistent and did not want to give up. This was such a rare opportunity to take down the prince. If they succeed today"s mission, even the tallest mountain in the world could not stop the money and status that would come flowing toward them. But at this moment he could not help but wonder about the clean and tidy route in front of him. Where did the convoy go? How could such a big group disappear in the thin woods without leaving any trace?
The woods on both sides of the trail were extraordinarily tranquil. The sun shone its soft rays across the earth, covering the woods and trail with beautiful golden dust. Al Kairi was staring at the trail in front of him with a blank thought while his men whispered behind him. He would never figure out how the Narcissus Knight"s scout so thoroughly covered up the team"s whereabouts, and also, he would never have thought that the most prestigious liar of the Westland targeted him as the first victim.
The sound of the vibrating bow string was short but harsh. Al Kairi turned around instinctively to the source of the sound just in time to see the sharp arrow that slid over his shoulder, and then he was knocked down off the horse by a gigantic force.
"Attack! Attack!" The men screamed like some poor helpless ladies! The horses were terrified too by the neuroticism of their owners and they began to flee.
"Ahhh..." Al Kairi plunged heavily on the ground, and he moaned loudly at the immense pain. The sergeant looked in horror as his wound kept sending out puffs of smoke like a pot of boiled water.
The smoke spread around quickly and up in the air. Its pungent smell forced Al Kairi and his men to start coughing violently as well.
Suddenly, there was a thundering noise of horse galloping across the woods. A vigilant patrolman turned around to the source of the sound while simultaneously keeping a constant eye on the direction of the arrows with his other companions, but at the moment he knew that they had made a fatal mistake.
"d.a.m.n it! Behind! At the back!" He shouted at the top of his lungs to inform his companions and pulled out his sword. The smoke burned his eyes, but he could still vaguely identify the immediate scene through his watery eyes.
An a.s.sa.s.sin rushed out of his hidden spot in the woods, and the angry horse ripped apart the formation of the men from the Ministry of Justice. The a.s.sa.s.sin then flashed through like a disappearing lighting, those who have been tortured by the thick pungent smoke did not even realize what happened.
"Watch out..." this poor man"s neck was pierced through by a sharp rapier before he could even finish his sentence.
"Oh G.o.d! What is happening?"
"We must get out of here immediately! Something is not right!"
"I can"t see anything..."
The men from the Ministry of Justice fell into hysterical confusion. They desperately wanted to get rid of this sudden nightmare, but no matter how much they moved around trying to find a way out they would be blocked or ran over by the horses of their own formation.
The thundering sound of horse galloping was clear to the ears once again, but this time they were much more intense than the last time.
A huge tomahawk that resembled a red sun, a s.h.i.+ning machete like a sliver of crescent, and slender sabers reflected lights that shone across the foggy woods in fleeting gleams as the attacking a.s.sa.s.sins broke the patrolmen"s formation once again. The noise of blades cutting through bodies accompanied by several screams echoed long in the woods like a never-ending orchestra. Even though the shadows of the a.s.sa.s.sins disappeared after they rushed back into the woods, the killing did not come to a stop.
Three more lives were taken. Eventually two men under attack managed to rush outside to the periphery of the woods. While they were only beginning to breath in some fresh air, their bloodshot eyes noticed an archer not far away, sitting tall on a strong stallion.
The archer gently let go the bowstring. What a wonderful roar it made! He has not heard the trembling of bowstring for a while now. The arrow sailed through a beautiful arc and landed straight on a patrolman"s neck. The archer did not mind checking the result, he believed in his bow and arrows. Before the bowstring stopped beating, the archer already loaded it with yet another new arrow on the bow groove.
The companion"s cry shocked the guy. He immediately realized what he should do, but it was obvious that the archer did not give him any chance. Before the war horse even had time to turn around, the man was greeted by a sharp bow that went straight through his chest and landed on the heart.
The irritating smog finally became thinner and the surviving patrolmen crowded together. Some of them have fallen off their horses, with dead bodies of their companions surrounding the compound.
The intense sounds of horse galloping began once again in the woods, and it resembled a pressing bugle call. The patrolman eventually recovered themselves from all these sudden stimulations, "Over there! There! Come on! Block them!"
The patrolmen regained their alertness and positioned themselves in a defensive formation. The remaining survivors were seen standing in two rows of four each.
The thundering sound came to an instant stop, but what came out of the woods first was three long guns. Without missing, the three shots fired hit right at the neck of three patrolmen, leaving them no time to let out a miserable scream before planting their head down to the ground.
At this point the so-called defensive formation has already been torn apart. The patrolman who led the defense was now pinned dead to the horse back, and the rest of his men did not even manage to catch a glimpse of the murderer. After witnessing more deaths of their companions, two men thought it would be wise to leave the terrifying compound now in order to save their own skin.
"Ola!" The leader of the troop shouted loudly as a cue to continue the attack.
With a couple more swings of the sword, the already flawed defense broke into complete disaster. The sky was once again splashed with three more bright red gushes of blood.
The Fourteenth Criminal Investigation Team of the Ministry of Justice was left with only two men. The two of them hurriedly rode back to the direction where they came from, but out of the sudden a monstrous silhouette of what seemed to be a giant appeared from behind the woods. Unfortunate for him, the last thing the poor man saw before he died was the lower part of his own body riding away on the horse, while he observed from the ground with eyes wide opened.
Only one left. This other guy was already screaming hysterically when he saw in close vicinity his peer being chopped in half! However, he did not really have the chance to fully experience this crazy feeling as a few seconds later after witnessing the tragic death, he left the world filled with surprise with an ax deeply embedded at the back of his heart.
The frightened birds that flew far away because of the chaos returned to their nests, and these little singers sang merrily from above the tree. Though the b.l.o.o.d.y smell made them uncomfortable too, it did not prevent them from secretly observing the violent gathering of these aggressive creatures below.
The a.s.sa.s.sins gathered around their final, and most important target. Underneath their feet stood the only survivor of the Fourteenth Criminal Investigation Team of the Ministry of Justice.
Oscar made a grand appearance out of the woods. He was glad that with the backup of his perfect team of a.s.sa.s.sins he did not even have to lift a finger to partic.i.p.ate in the killing.
The a.s.sa.s.sins gave way to His Royal Highness Prince. He crouched beside the sole remaining survivor, and he calmly looked at the crying officer sergeant.
"Ola! Do not be sad, it"s all over now! Can you tell me what is your name?"
Despite the excruciating pain on his shoulder; despite being blinded by irritant smoke; despite being trampled over by his own horse that resulted in a fractured leg, Al Kairi was still conscious. He knew that his good fortune has come to an end, but he did not want to admit this misfortune that was happening right under his own eyes. The whole incident was just too out of ordinary and inexplicable.
"I am Al ... Al ... Al Kairi, I am ... am ... Ministry of Justice ... Ministry of Justice .... ... the fourth ..."
"Hey! Hey! Enough! Al Kairi, aren"t you trying to trade with me? Then tell me what do you want?" Oscar was impatient.
"No! Your Highness! I ... just ... just want to ... secretly protect you! Really! Those criminals ... those criminals will hurt you!"
Feeling a little embarra.s.sed, Oscar touched his nose again. It seemed like this gesture was becoming a habit when he felt nervous or embarra.s.sed. Of course, he felt embarra.s.sed not for himself, but for the sergeant. There was no need to waste time on this man anymore. "You should understand the situation by now, right? I am very well protected, don"t you worry about me."
Oscar stood up, tall and straight. Poor Al Kairi seemed to know that his death was coming, and he tried with all the remaining strength he has left to cling onto the young prince"s feet.
"Your Highness! Your Highness! You have to believe me! I have a wife and three children, and my old mother still needs to be taken care of, I still have ..."
Oscar stomped on this nasty guy"s face and replied mercilessly, "I can only send them my regards, G.o.dot!"
G.o.dot raised his giant ax high up in the air and the whistling wind blew aside the young man"s hair. Everyone turned their head around at the disgusting sight, except Oscar. His foot remained on Al Kairi"s head, until the tomahawk brushed through his thigh and landed sharp and neat on the fella"s head. Oscar locked his eyes at the poor man"s throughout the whole process.
Oscar kicked aside that ugly head with disgust, as if it was only a small piece of rock. "Let us get back on the road. There is a grand event waiting for our arrival."
Robinson Brickfield was brutally immobilized in the prison cart by some of the disgraceful fellas from the Ministry of Justice. However, he did not protest because he knew that it would be to no avail.
The escort team suddenly stopped in a secluded spot in the jungle, and the heart of the former Secretary of State trembled with fear. As the escort team began to deviate from the road to the south, the prisoner already knew that things were heading to a very bad direction. Now the entire convoy came to a halt. The sensitive Robinson realized that a real disaster was about to fall on his shoulder.
Oscar and his followers seemed to pop out of the woods from nowhere. They were still a little distance away from the convoy of the prisoners. The heavily-armed men sat upright on the stallions, and the young prince stood alone in front of them.
The captain of the escort team was taken aback when he met the young prince but the surprise was immediately replaced with an exaggerated smile. It would have been expected anyway, his satisfaction when encountering the man who made himself rich.
"Your Highness, you are on time." The escort captain walked toward the prince and greeted him with a formal salute.
Oscar said nothing to the man. Although he has been dreaming for this moment for all his life, when this moment finally arrived, the young man found himself nervous without reason and noticed his hands trembled uncontrollably.
The escort captain did not mind the prince"s indifference at all, what he cared about was that he was a rich man!
"Your Highness, I will now bring forth the person you have requested." The captain of the escort team blew his whistle, and in the distance a soldier from the convoy immediately dragged out a man off the prison cart.
Accompanied by cries of terror, by Robinson Brickfield"s angry screams, and by the melancholic suns.h.i.+ne s.h.i.+ning on the ground, a bruised young man was dragged to the front of the prince. Oscar examined the person carefully and thoroughly. Even though he believed the escort team would not dare to lie to him, but this dishevelled, frightened man who peed in his pants was nothing like the Woods Brickfield he remembered from his memory.
Using the sheath of a machete, Oscar adjusted the guy"s face so that he was looking straight into his eyes. "Prisoner! What"s your name?"
The prisoner trembled like a frightened rabbit. He knew that for this person to be able to command these escort guards he must be someone of utmost importance.
"Lord... I"m Woods Brickfield, the eldest son of the Brickfield family." He finally saw clearly the man who stood in front of him, he a.s.sumed that he was only a teenager.
Oscar"s pupil suddenly shrank and he narrowed his eyes at the sound of that name. He could not control his resentment!
Woods Brickfield also observed this change of expression and immediately he knelt on the ground. "My lord, my lord, I have no relation with Robinson Brickfield! I am innocent! Everything was organized by those two brothers, my lord, I"m innocent!"
Everyone shot him a contemptuous look, it hurt their eyes having to deal with such disgraceful garbage.
Oscar only managed to say the words after a long time. He seemed to have gathered a lot of effort to say this sentence.
"Do you not remember me? I am O"Neil Andrew Morisette. Years ago, I made an oath. Have you forgotten what you owe me?"
At the mention of O"Neil Andrew Morisette, Woods Brickfield struggled to escape, but the captain of the escort team knocked him back down to his lap with the sheath of the sword. Woods fell painfully to the ground, but he continued to crawl forward to move away from Oscar. "Devil Devil! Devil!" The poor man mumbled in terror.
Oscar took two steps forward to catch the poor Woods who was trying to avoid him. This time the teenager was no longer holding a machete. Instead, in his hand was the weapon used ten years ago during the execution. The knife had been confiscated by the ministries as one of the evidence for the criminal record of His Royal Highness Prince, but the young man bought it from the Ministry of Justice at a high price to be used at this moment.
Woods Brickfield went hysterical when he saw the weapon that has been recurring in his nightmares, shouting loudly the name of G.o.d. He struggled like a madman to get away from the prince"s grip.
Oscar"s anger was completely provoked by Wood"s resistance. The young man"s powerful fists fell on Woods Brickfield"s body like drizzling rain droplets. Woods Brickfield was already dying, but he still tried hard to dodge his head from Oscar"s punches.
In the distant background came the curses of the former Secretary of State. Though no one cared about the weak screams of the father, but to Oscar"s ears they sounded extremely irritating. The annoyed young man turned and shouted loudly at the captain of the escort team.
"Shut that guy up! Are all your men dead? Do not let anything disturb me!"
The escort captain and two of his men immediately ran to the prison cart. Soon, the m.u.f.fled noise of Robinson Brickfield"s curses was replaced with the sound of sticks. .h.i.tting flatly on human"s body.
Suddenly the whole forest became extremely quiet. Woods rested his head powerlessly on the ground, his only eyes examining a very lively landscape; a bug hidden in the gra.s.s looked at him curiously, unknown wildflowers bloomed in the nearby meadow, and in the distance an energetic skylark was happily jumping in all directions.
Wood"s head was pulled over so he was looking up to the blue sky. A second later he saw a flas.h.i.+ng light and he unconsciously closed his eyes. After a moment of excruciating pain, his eyes remained closed forever.
O"Neil Andrew Morisette finally performed the ceremony that arrived a decade later. No one knew how much he sacrificed in the past ten years just for this one moment. Ten years! So much of his life has been taken away from him in the last ten years, but it also provided him with countless experiences.
Oscar was genuinely delighted as he watched blood oozing out from Woods" throat. He was overjoyed and happily jumped up to celebrate the ending of the ceremony. It was finally completed!
"Hahahaha! Do you see it?" the young turned back, hoping to share with his team the joy of revenge. "Hahahaha! Do you see it? Look at this guy, he kept me waiting for ten years! Ten years! Ten years!" Oscar again threw a couple of blows on the poor dead man.
Without reason, the young man suddenly lost interest in continuing to torture his enemy. He could feel his tear gland aching a little, and he retreated to under a big tree without noticing that he was sobbing softly.
"Ten years! Ten years!" Oscar repeated the two words unconsciously. His knights gradually gathered around him, but they could not find the suitable words to comfort the young man.
Oscar soon resumed calm after a few minutes. He blew his nose and put on what he thought was his best smile. Finally, the young man turned his gaze back to the city of Dulin, which stretched into the far distance.
"Percy, give that guy a look. Make sure to not let him die! G.o.dot, can you not see my hands are full of dirty blood? Fetch me the water bag. "
The young man carefully scrubbed both his hands that was covered with the blood of the enemy, until the pair of chubby hands was as clean as ever.
He casually shook off the excess water off his hands and turned to three Narcissus Knights. Although the knights were not intimidated by the violent scene just now, but once they met the prince"s eyes they could not help but involuntarily knelt down to the ground.
"Remember what you saw, my knights! No one can insult Andrew family without having to pay the price! Even the G.o.d of Light is behind Andrew family supporting us. I hope you will remember that you are first the knights of family Andrew, and then only the knights of G.o.d. The meaning of your existence is to clear the barrier that stands before family Andrew, to clear the vengeance against their enemies, do you understand?"
The knights promised loudly. However, the three high-positioned Narcissus Knights have not realized that this rule was not included in the handbook of the Narcissus Knights that they have been taught.
If you are a historian, we are sure you will rejoice at the scene you have just seen, because you will find that the turning point in history happened precisely in the dense woods in the south of Dulin. Though the Narcissus Knights have been serving the Andrew family loyally for the past 400 years, but it was only until then that they began to degenerate!
