Chapter 259: A Victory Smile
“That room would be too small for Mo Mo to change comfortably. Plus, they put outsiders in the room too. We don’t know what kind of stupid things they will do,” Wei Zhiqian said, thinking through every scenario that could happen.
“You’re right,” Tan Wenci nodded in agreement and took his card out to pay.
Unfortunately for him, Wei Zhiqian had come prepared and had already given his card to the receptionist.
“I’m the one who suggested we change rooms. Let me pay this time,” Wei Zhiqian said with a victorious smile.
The Tan family members all glared at Wei Zhiqian, unable to believe the guts he had.
The father then turned to gawk at his three sons and silently scolded them.
Why didn’t you guys think of this?
The siblings looked at their father innocently, as if they were saying they did think of it, but Wei Zhiqian had been one step faster than them.
“How many days would you like to stay?” the receptionist asked.
“Just one,” replied Wei Zhiqian.
“That’ll be $88,000 then,” the receptionist said and paused to wait for Wei Zhiqian’s nod before swiping his card.
After taking care of everything, she then handed Wei Zhiqian the keycard and called a porter over. “Please take these guests to the Presidential Suite on the top floor. Mr. Wei, we’ll be sending your luggage up in a short while.”
Even though they weren’t spending the night, they still had had to bring their evening attire over to change into.
Xu Mingzhen had brought an evening gown, while all the men had brought tuxedos.
That was why everyone had a small suitcase with them.
A few minutes after they arrived at the suite, the porter arrived with their belongings.
As the lobby was empty, the receptionists took the chance to gossip a little.
“Hey, do you think that young lady just got into the entertainment business? I wonder which family she is from for her to afford to stay in our most expensive suite. They aren’t even spending the night here…”
HMM. “They aren’t even staying a whole day. Since they are attending the Tulip Awards Ceremony later, they will probably, at most, spend around five to six hours in the room.”
“Almost $90,000 for a five- to six-hour stay. She’s probably another rich kid playing around in the entertainment business.”
“Well, it’s impossible to join the business if no one is backing you up financially now. Look at most of the famous actors. Most of them come from rich families. If they don’t have the money, they would never have the chance to study in an acting school. Not only the tuition fees are stupidly expensive, but they also have to hire professionals to help refine their skills before the final exams. These cla.s.ses cost five figures a lesson. It must cost at least six figures just to prepare for the finals. This isn’t something a normal family could ever afford.”
“Hey, stop. A guest’s coming!”
The two receptionists’ expressions quickly returned to their professional smiles.
It wasn’t until the guest got close that they realized she was one of the most famous celebrities, Yu Yixian.
Coincidentally, the two receptionists were huge fans of hers.
Yu Yixian was one of the celebrities who was most focused on gaining popularity. She had the best resources and advertis.e.m.e.nts in the business.
Most of the dramas she acted in were trendy dramas. Because she was picky when it came to which drama she would act in, most of her work was successful.
Many male actors wanted to be in the dramas with her.
After a bunch of successful dramas, her exposure got better, and her popularity rose significantly in a short time. She was also able to have more choices when it came to which drama she wanted to partic.i.p.ate in.
Yu Yixian had also been also nominated for the Best Actress award at the Tulip Awards. Her fans were sure that she would win the award.
The best drama last year had undoubtedly been “Legend of Wei and Jin”, but since there wasn’t a single main actor or actress in the drama, no one from the drama had been nominated.
That was why everyone had no doubt that Yu Yixian was going to land the best actress t.i.tle.
“Good morning,” the receptionist greeted her as she tried to calm herself down.
Yu Yixian’s a.s.sistant handed her ID over.
After handling the registration, the receptionist gave the ID back and said, “Ms. Yu will be staying in the Double Room with the Garden View. Ms. Zhao and Ms. Liu will be staying in the Twins Room.”
“One second. Why am I staying in a normal double room?” Yu Yixian asked her a.s.sistant. “Didn’t you tell the organizer that I wanted a suite?”
“I did tell them. What were they thinking, booking you a normal room?” Ms. Liu responded and noticed someone from the organizer at the door. “Please wait a second. I’ll go ask them.”
Yu Yixian, with her sungla.s.ses on, waited impatiently.
It didn’t take long for two representatives of the organizer to return with the a.s.sistant.
“What the h*ll is going on here? Why am I staying in a normal room? When have I ever stayed in one?” Yu Yixian scolded them. “What happens if word gets out and other people start treating me like a third-rate actress? Heck, even a third-rate actress gets to stay in a suite at most hotels. Are you saying I’m not as good as them?”
“Our sincerest apologies, Ms. Yu. We wanted to book a suite for you, but the hotel is fully booked. They only have two presidential suites left on the top floor, and they cost $70,000 and $90,000 each. That’s way over our budget,” one of the representatives explained. “The hotel next door has some suites left, but their quality is lower. There’s no way we could let you settle down there.”
“All of them are booked?” Yu Yixian could not believe her ears.
“Since we also invited a lot of sponsors to the event today, we have to arrange for them to stay in the suites…” the representative replied.
No matter how famous Yu Yixian was, there was no way she was more important than the sponsors who were funding the event and paying her salary.
They were basically the reason she could be successful.
“Didn’t you say that there are two left?” Yu Yixian wasn’t going to stay in a normal room. No matter what. It would greatly affect her standing in the business, and the resources she would get would plummet.
It was a business where people would do anything to belittle their peers just so they could climb up the ladder.
“Y…yes…but the price is way over our budget…” the representative replied. Deep down in his heart, he was cursing at Yu Yixian. Heck! Who do you think you are? You aren’t important enough for us to put you in the Presidential Suite!
If they were to do so, it would be the first time that an organizer had arranged for one of the actors to stay in one. Even Tong Qinrong had never enjoyed such a privilege before.
The receptionist overheard the conversation and quickly said, “Ms. Yu, one of the guests just canceled their suite. If you don’t mind, we can arrange for you to stay in there.”
“Didn’t they just say all the suites were fully booked? This is my first time hearing a guest canceling the booking on their own.”
Could it be…that they wouldn’t be coming?
Yu Yixian quickly took the chance and tried to find out who was the one who’d canceled the booking. If it was one of the nominees for the Best Actress Award, then it would mean she was one step closer to winning the t.i.tle.
