Chapter 271: Even If She’s Your Daughter
What mattered the most at the moment to Yu Yixian was to find a way for Tan Wenci and his wife to forgive her.
The most embarra.s.sing part of the whole incident was that Wei Zhiqian was sitting next to them and had seen the whole thing.
It had completely ruined her plan of leaving a good impression on him.
As an actress, there was no doubt that Yu Yixian was gorgeous.
Even her body had been professionally trained to look good.
All of her actions were charming enough for normal people to fall for her. She was on a level that normal people would find a hard time achieving.
That was the reason why Yu Yixian had been confident that just walking in front of Wei Zhiqian would have been more than enough to capture his attention and leave a deep impression.
Of course, she wasn’t so full of herself that she thought Wei Zhiqian would fall for her at first sight, but she was still confident enough to believe that he would at least notice her after she had crossed paths with him a few times.
But now, everything seemed like a huge joke to her.
There was no elegance left in her now.
Technically, she did leave a deep impression on Wei Zhiqian, but it was a bad impression.
“Look at my Mo Mo! Look at how nice and kindhearted she is! Even after being bullied by you like that, she still compliments you on your acting skills.” Tan Wenci scolded her as his heart ached at the thought of his daughter being bullied.
Yu Yixian could only look at the father speechlessly and think, Are you sure she is complimenting me? Even if she’s your daughter, you can’t be this blind, right?
The actress was so furious that she was using every ounce of her strength to stop herself from cursing.
She could only swallow her anger and beg, “I…I really didn’t know that Tan Mo is…”
However, before Yu Yixian could even finish her sentence, Tan Mo cut her short. “So, you are saying that if this happened to someone that wasn’t rich or didn’t have anyone backing them up, you could bully them as much as you wanted?”
Tan Mo was now staring at Yu Yixian with her big clear eyes.
“N…no… That’s not what I meant…” Yu Yixian tried to explain as she tried to hold back her urge to bark at the little girl.
“There’s no explanation needed,” Tan Wenci said, completely annoyed. “What Mo Mo just said is what I wanted to say as well. No matter how much you try to explain, you can never hide your real personality. We won’t forgive you for trying to bully our daughter no matter what you do.”
It was then that Tan Mo turned to look at her father with respect.
Oh! Daddy is backing me up!
Yu Yixian glared at the father and laughed mockingly inside her head.
Hah! The only good thing he has is that mouth of his.
“Yu Yixian, please leave us alone from now on.” Instead of addressing Yu Yixian as Ms. Yu like before, Tan Wenci was now addressing her with her full name. The only reason he had addressed her respectfully before was just so he could mock her.
But now, he didn’t feel the need to mock her anymore.
“I hope your acting jobs proceed smoothly from now on,” Tan Wenci said quietly.
Tan Wenci wasn’t giving the actress his blessing, but a warning instead. To be more precise, it was more like a curse.
“Ms. Yu, it’s better if you leave now,” Xu Mingzhen also urged her. “If you keep bothering us, we’ll have no choice but to let the organizer take care of this matter. When that happens, who do you think will suffer the most? I can say for sure that it won’t be us.”
As soon as Xu Mingzhen finished her sentence, Zhou Jingan returned.
Yu Yixian instantly recognized him, but she wasn’t curious as to who he really was.
In her head, she had come to the conclusion that Zhou Jingan was either Tan Mo’s bodyguard or a.s.sistant.
However, she could not believe what happened next. Instead of approaching the Tan family, Zhou Jingan stopped at Wei Zhiqian’s side and bent over to whisper into the latter’s ear.
Wei Zhiqian responded with a nod, but did not say a single word.
Yu Yixian’s eyes widened instantly.
T…that man works for Wei Zhiqian? Don’t…don’t tell me that Tan Mo is acquainted with Wei Zhiqian as well.
Yu Yixian’s body began to tremble as she stumbled backward.
All her plans of seducing Wei Zhiqian disappeared in an instant as it was obvious enough that the man was on Tan Mo’s side as well.
Yu Yixian could only leave the Tan family alone, dispiritedly.
After the actress had left, Chairman Zhu quickly apologized for trying to introduce her to the family. “Mr. Tan, you have to forgive my actions. I didn’t know she was the type of person who would do something like that. She has always been nice and kind when she talked to me.”
“I understand.” Tan Wenci smiled, showing that he really understood the situation. “Aren’t we already used to seeing people like her? They are the type that only show their good sides to the powerful people. If she decides to keep a nice act in front of you, there’s just no way you can know what she’s doing behind your back. Heck, who knows, she might even be talking bad things about you in secret. She seems like the type that’ll do that. I would usually just keep my distance from people like her. Since it’s impossible to stop them from using you, the best way is to just not have any form of interaction with them.
“Of course. You’re definitely right!” Chairman Zhu smiled. There was no way he would disagree with Tan Wenci as the latter was strong enough to end his career. What was worse was that Wei Zhiqian was on their side as well.
The chairman could tell that just from the interactions between Xu Mingzhen and Xiao Menghan. It was as if they were real sisters when they talked, and it was more than evident that they had known each other for a long time.
As for Wei Zhiqian, he had his eyes focused on Tan Mo the whole time and took good care of her, to the point where once Tan Mo lowered her head and Wei Zhiqian served her some water. And when Tan Mo raised her head, Wei Zhiqian would ma.s.sage her neck.
Seeing how close they were, there was no way Wei Zhiqian was going to let someone who had bullied Tan Mo off the hook.
There was just no way that Chairman Zhu could take Yu Yixian’s side. He even planned to cut ties with her from that moment onward.
As the incident came to a conclusion, the guests and celebrities began to fill the venue.
A few minutes pa.s.sed, and it was time for the awards ceremony to begin.
The lights in the hall dimmed, leaving only the spotlights focusing on the stage.
The screen on the stage began to play the introduction to the Tulip Awards and its history.
When the video ended, the host for the night, famous actor Zhang Shuidong, made an opening speech. He even added a few jokes directed toward some of his colleagues to lighten up the mood.
After a few speeches, it was finally time for the first award.
Since it was Tan Mo’s first time attending such a huge event, she was completely captivated by it.
When it was time for the Best Script Award, Tan Mo almost missed it as she was so focused on everything else.
“W…what? That’s so fast!” Tan Mo was surprised and not mentally prepared yet.
“They usually announce these types of awards first. Those that garner more attention, like the Best Actor and Best Actress Awards, usually come last. Of course, the Best Actor, Best Drama, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress Awards are at the end as well. That’s why Director Liu and Mr. Zhang all have to wait until the end,” Tan Jinqi explained.
Even though they weren’t 100 percent confident that they would win those awards, since they had been nominated, it was their responsibility to wait until the results came out.
The screen began to play a few scenes from the dramas that were nominated, followed by their authors.
After the scenes from “Legend of Wei and Jin”, Tan Mo’s pseudonym, Qi Mo, appeared on the screen.
The introduction ended with the names of the five nominees on the screen.
The award presenters for the Best Script were one of the best scriptwriters in the nation and a famous book author.
The famous scriptwriter had an envelope in his hand and was ready to open it.
…
Back at the Yuan Mansion, Yuan Keqing and Xu Mingjing were staring at the TV screen anxiously.
Unlike her daughter, Xu Mingjing wasn’t cruel and didn’t pray to G.o.d that Tan Mo would not win the award.
The mother could not explain her emotions at that moment. If Tan Mo really did win the award, she would have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, she would be glad that Tan Mo had won, but she would also be jealous. To put it simply, it would be impossible for her to only feel happy for Tan Mo.
As for Yuan Keqing, her heart was more one-sided.
She kept repeating in her head, please, G.o.d, don’t let Tan Mo win the award.
