Chapter 291: I Am Not the Bad Guy
“You’re saying that if a person failed in their attempt to murder someone, then they aren’t guilty of what they tried to do. The undeniable truth is that you tried to mess with Tan Mo’s exam so that she wouldn’t get a good score. Even if you failed, that doesn’t mean you didn’t do it because you did and there’s even proof of it,” Zhou Jingan said in a cold tone. “But, you know, Young Master Wei is super generous. Instead of punis.h.i.+ng you in another way, he decided to just let you suffer the same way you did to Tan Mo. Since you tried to sabotage one of her exams, so it’s natural that we tried to sabotage one of yours, right? Well, if you really don’t get a good score and get into your dream university this year, you can always try again next year. As long as you promise to not mess with Tan Mo again, you’ll have our word that we won’t mess with you again next year.”
“You! Do you think you are the law here?” Xu Mingjing scolded him.
“Mom,” Yuan Keqing cried. “How…how can Mo Mo do this? Does Auntie know what she’s doing? A…aren’t we family?”
Zhou Jingan couldn’t help but laugh mockingly to himself.
Just as I thought… Didn’t I say that I came here on Young Master Wei’s orders? I even mentioned the young master in almost every sentence to emphasize that.
Despite that, Yuan Keqing has still managed to ignore that and, in turn, blame everything on Tan Mo. However, this was pretty much expected since the Yuan family wouldn’t dare to mess with Wei Zhiqian.
“How long do you think you can keep this up for?” Xu Mingjing asked. “You guys will have to leave once the streets gets crowded.”
“Oh? That?” Zhou Jingan sighed nonchalantly. “Now that you’ve mentioned it, I forgot to tell you guys that we’ve gotten approval from the government to take over the whole street today for ourselves. Rest a.s.sured that no one else will be joining us until we give the go sign.”
Yuan Keqing glared at Zhou Jingan, and she gritted her teeth furiously. “Don’t you know that bad guys always die early?”
No matter how she looked at it, Zhou Jingan was the bad guy now.
“Well, then I’m glad to tell you that I’m not a bad guy here.” Naturally, Zhou Jingan believed he was on the good side.
He had never been the type who would take the initiative to harm other people. From his point of view, they were merely avenging Tan Mo for what Yuan Keqing had done to her.
“Also, you can skip the idea of informing the cops as well,” Zhou Jingan smiled as he pointed at one of the cars. “All these cars have signal jammers in them. With eight signal jammers here, it’ll be impossible for you to get a signal.”
Zhou Jingan had just confirmed the suspicions the three from the Yuan family had about the signal jammer.
Xu Mingjing could not believe that they would actually bring something as sci-fi as a signal jammer out just to stop them from reaching the exam venue.
The mother and daughter were now wracking their brains, thinking of a way to get out of the situation.
Even if Yuan Keqing could not attend the exam in the end, the mother would not just let this slide. She wasn’t going to let Wei Zhiqian off the hook after what he had done to her daughter.
The mother slowly reached for her phone in her pocket, planning to turn her camera on.
She had been using the same phone for a long time and knew where her camera app was. All she had to do was unlock her phone and turn it on.
She could then turn to the video recording function and trick Zhou Jingan into mentioning Wei Zhiqian again so that she could record it.
Xu Mingjing was starting to regret not thinking of this idea sooner as Zhou Jingan had been mentioning Wei Zhiqian nonstop a moment ago.
Unfortunately, the moment Xu Mingjing made the slightest movement, the doors of three of the cars that were blocking them from the sides were suddenly flung wide open.
Three people got out of the cars and subdued Xu Mingjing, Yuan Keqing, and the driver without any warning.
Since there weren’t any other people on the street, no one was there to witness it.
All three of them, including the driver, were caught off guard.
The people that Zhou Jingan had brought with him were people that had army training.
It didn’t even take them any effort at all to stop these three people from moving.
The two people who subdued Yuan Keqing and Xu Mingjing were female agents. Zhou Jingan couldn’t help but feel amazed at how far ahead his young master had thought.
Since they were female agents, Xu Mingjing and Yuan Keqing wouldn’t be able to accuse them of molesting them.
Also, letting a couple of men search the bodies of two women was just wrong.
Even though Wei Zhiqian was devious, he still had a bottom line.
Only the agent who subdued the driver was male.
It didn’t take long for the three agents to recover any devices capable of recording from Xu Mingjing, Yuan Keqing, and the driver.
The agents even made sure to check the cloud drive on their phones in case they’d already recorded something and uploaded it onto the cloud.
“You!” Xu Mingjing was at a loss for words now.
She couldn’t believe the nerve these people had.
Yuan Keqing had already burst into tears.
They were the tears of helplessness, unlike those that she used to fake just so she could achieve a certain goal.
“M…mom! I’m not going to get there in time,” the daughter wailed.
Of course, it wasn’t a problem if she couldn’t get a good score on the exams as she could always opt to study abroad, but the problem was that it had always been her dream to get into Beijing University.
She didn’t want to wait for another year either.
The biggest problem with waiting wasn’t the fact that she would start university a year later than her peers, but the fact that Wei Keli would’ve graduated by then.
She also did not want to relive her h*llish senior year again.
As the mother and daughter were getting more and more anxious, Zhou Jingan was sitting, chilling, waiting for the time to pa.s.s.
Since Wei Zhiqian had said he should make Yuan Keqing 30 minutes late, Zhou Jingan had to factor in the time it would take Yuan Keqing to reach the venue from where they were.
Zhou Jingan had planned to let them reach the venue at exactly the 30-minute mark to show how precisely they wanted to exact their revenge. That was Wei Zhiqian’s principle for exacting revenge, precision.
“Please, I beg you, let us go!” Xu Mingjing begged in tears. “I promise I’ll make sure Keqing won’t do anything like that again. I’ll make sure that she won’t trouble Tan Mo anymore.”
“We’re still Mo Mo’s family, right? Do you think Mo Mo would want this to happen to us?” Yuan Keqing cried.
“Well. we don’t have to let Tan Mo know about this, right? That’ll solve the problem.” Zhou Jingan smiled. “We are doing this behind her back, and we don’t plan to tell her anyway.”
The secretary was doing his best to remove Tan Mo from the equation. However, judging from Xu Mingjing and Yuan Keqing’s reactions, it didn’t seem like they would ever forgive Tan Mo even if he was successful.
“Then again, don’t you guys find it funny? When you tried to sabotage Tan Mo’s exam, did you ever stop to think that she’s your family?” Zhou Jingan scoffed. “So good of you to finally realize that now.”
