Traitor Of Humanity

Chapter 28

While the chief of the Wolfing gang was making his speech, some few bandits were whispering in the audience, like students ignoring their princ.i.p.al during a school a.s.sembly.

"After I get home from this battle, I am going to marry that girl."

"Huh?" Having heard what the bandit next to him just said, Bandit B was confused. "What, Thuck, do you have a girl hidden somewhere we don"t know? Is she pretty? If so, let us have go at her. Us bandit are like brothers, and brothers share their wh.o.r.es, right?"

"No way! I am not sharing Bessie! You thugs can go play with the b*tches in the cages!" Thuck adamantly refused. It is rare for a bandit to be so attached to a woman, considering how much they look down on them.

Bandit B wasn"t offended by that. Instead, he caught onto something else. "Bessie? ...Why does that sound like the name of a dog?"

When their chief, Ronold Wolf, concluded his speech, all of the bandits roared.

Thuck yelled wildly, with his spit flying all over the place, "Today, I am going to r*** some women!!"

"...As expected, Thuck, you"re still one of us bandits. No fidelity at all..." Bandit B felt relieved.

...

Even earlier than when some insignificant bandits made their declarations, right after the Zefer family received news from their scouts about the arriving of the Wolfing gang, Seth Zefer went into the room of his little girlfriend and proposed.

"Nala, after this next battle ends, let us hold our wedding ceremony." Seth said on bent knee as he looked up at the little girl, while putting a ring that he had prepared onto her ring finger.

Nala, whose face had turn as red as an apple, replied with a barely audible "...okay.", and then told Seth to be careful not to get hurt.

After he left Nala"s room in a good mood, Seth went straight to Irene"s.

He said the exact same words that he had said to Nala, to Irene. He also produced an extremely similar ring, all in hopes of a wedding where he can hold a flower in each hand...

The outcome? Irene tried to kill him, again.

Irene didn"t know anything about Seth"s greedy aspiration. She just wanted to kill him for him daring to ask for her hand in marriage despite what his family did to hers.

When Seth exited out of her room, he felt sad. He didn"t feel sad because he had been rejected. It wasn"t his first time facing rejection after all. He felt sad because he had failed to set up another marriage-related death flag...

...

Finally, on the day of the battle itself, Seth, wearing his usual everyday clothes, stood on the ledge of the city"s eastern wall, right above the surrounding moat, staring at the bandits that had circled around. One small shove, and he would fall straight into the moat...

Considering that the bandits have already gotten over to this side, which is opposite to the side of the city where Merab Zefer had stationed himself in preparation to receive the enemy, that means that the western side where the bandits had first charged at, must have already entered into an intense battle situation.

"Young master, please, get off of the ledge... At least put on some armor..." The soldiers standing on top of the eastern wall tried to persuade Seth to step back from the ledge, or to at least put on some armor so that he would not get killed by the enemies" firearms later.

They don"t want to get punished by their lord for letting the young master die, but at the same time, they don"t want to force this psychotic young master of theirs to do anything that he does not want to. If they do that, then perhaps they would be able to avoid being punished by their lord, but they could instead suffer an even worse fate under their young master...

Seth ignored the pleas of his soldiers. He felt the wind blowing against his body. With an mischievous grin on his face, he wondered, "How exactly did those bandits like the gifts that I had prepared for them?"

...

Moments ago, the Wolfing gang bandits were still charging vigorously forward, racing each other as if they don"t want any of their companions to s.n.a.t.c.h their prize.

They started at 500 meters, roaring as their emotions were still high.

They ran and ran, sprinting with all their might.

Then, they reached 400 meters, still full of zeal.

But when the reached approximately 350 meters close to Haradur city...

"Gah!" Suddenly, someone let out such a low scream.

"What? What happened!?" One of the bandits looked back. He saw the bandit diagonally behind him standing in a weird and slanted posture.

The bandit that made the noise shook his head. "Nothing, I just stepped into a hole. D*mn, this hole is deep. My entire boot got stuck in here, and it"s wet! F***, the water"s seeping in..." The bandit quickly pulled his foot out.

"G.o.d that stinks!"

"What is that! p.i.s.s? There"s sh*t too!"

"Gah!" Another low scream was heard.

"Gah!" Then another.

"F***! Someone hid a bunch of urinals in this area! Which dirty b.a.s.t.a.r.d did this!?" Curses came out nonstop as a portion of the bandits quickly slowed down. The number of bandits getting their foots stuck in the ground weren"t just 3 or 4. These holes could not be seen with just their naked eyes, as they were all well concealed.

This disgusting prank wouldn"t stop the bandits from proceeding, but their previously high fervor has now been dented, and currently, there are a number of them that are carefully tapping the ground before them before each step they took.

As bandits, they certainly aren"t clean people. But no matter how dirty they usually are, no one would want someone else"s excretions on their bodies...

...

Ronold Wolf was watching his men running towards the city.

When some of them suddenly slowed down and began searching the ground at their feet, he cursed, "What the f*** are those idiots doing!?"

Then, he ordered one of his vice-chiefs to relay his command, "Tell them to hurry it up! If they don"t reach the city wall right this instant, I"ll hang them!"

...

"Humans like dogs so much, they might as well act like them and roll in their own sh*t." Said by, Seth.

"Humans should like kitties instead. That way, they"d be clean after licking their own fur." Said by, Gelard.

...

At 250 meters...

At this distance, the officers with rifles are in range to shoot at their enemies on the walls, for the effective range of their rifles is up to exactly 250 meters.

Why did they not get longer ranged rifles? That was simply because they couldn"t. There is a limit to how much the people who sold them these firearms want to get sniped by the very weapons that they themselves had pa.s.sed out, AND let the culprits get away with it.

But still, 250 meters should be enough. The arrows fired by the crossbows used by mortal cities these days lose most of their accuracy by this range, while the bullets fired by their rifles will still remain highly effective and precise.

That is the reason why the soldiers of mortal cities often wear full body armors.

The steel armors used by soldiers in the current era are designed to defend against bullets and grenades. After all, even if the people of mortal cities don"t dare to pick a fight with the forces from immortal cities, they wouldn"t want to face them as sitting ducks that can be killed with the twitch of a finger, right?

To make use of rifles in a siege battle, it would be best to shoot at the soldiers at the top of the walls to distract them, while your own soldiers charge up the city wall. If you"re able to shoot into the gap of their helmets and kill them, that would be even better.

But...

"What is this... red water?" At 250 meters, the bandits that were supposed to charge at the city wall, stopped at the edge of a moat.

If it was an ordinary moat, there would not be any problems. They would be able to just swim through it. But the water in the moat was colored bright red under the reflection of the sunlight, making them feel hesitant and suspicious...

"What are you cowards gawking at! They just put some animal blood or red paint in it to scare us! Get in already!" Having yelled that, one of the older bandits stepped foot in the red water.

"It"s shallow! But the ground is f***ing uneven. I can barely walk like this."

"Looks like it"s fine."

"Let"s get going. Get going!" Having lost their hesitation, the bandits charged en ma.s.se, their boots making splashes in the red water. The further they went, the deeper it got.

It started at their ankles, rose to their knees, got to their thighs, went above their waists... By the time they started getting close to the wall, the red water had already reached their chests...

At that moment...

"Fire!!!" A loud voice roared from above.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH

A rain of arrows shot down at the bandits. Their sharp tips and the aid of gravity granted them great power.

"Duck into the water!"

Following that command, the bandits dove into the red water, in an attempt to weaken the force of the arrows by making them have to travel through water resistance.

That was when their suffering really began.

Those that were too late to dive into the water, if their armor was too weak, or covered too little, were pierce by multiple arrows, becoming either injured or dead.

Those that did sink into the water however, the moment this red water met their eyes...

"Ahh! My eyes!!!"

"F***! It stings!!!"

"D*mn them, my f***ing eyes!!!"

They splashed around in pain.

...

"It has yet to spread to immortal cities and mortal cities, but in some supreme cities, almost all high school girls carry a can of pepper spray whenever they are walking outside. They force the boys to have to wear goggles just to flirt with them..." Said by, a guy who once got pepper sprayed when he asked a pretty, but paranoid, high school girl out for a date.

"That"s because the stupid master isn"t attractive enough. Once someone becomes as charming as kitty, all the female kitties will come swarming to kitty themselves." Said by, a kitty who has never had a girlfriend in his over a hundred years of life.

...

The bandits whom felt their eyes burning, quickly ran back towards the sh.o.r.e, ignoring the arrows that were flying at their backs. Their faces, and the whites of their eyes, have turned an abnormal pink. They heard one of their officers yelling at them. "Don"t run, you b.a.s.t.a.r.ds! If you dare to run, I will shoot you!"

"And look!" That bandit officer waved his hand at the scene over 200 meters behind them. He told them to look, but he actually didn"t consider whether they could see or not. "Those f***ers inside the city have already started dropping boulders on us. Run back, and you will just get crushed by those!"

Never could this officer have guessed however, that those boulders wreathed in flames, falling from the sky, aren"t actually boulders, and that they are causing a wholly different kind of dread than what he had imagine...
