When the last bell rang, Alex got up and sped through the halls. There was an eerie feeling that someone was watching. It didn"t take much to guess who it was.Logan tried to follow but he was bulkier and taller than Alex, who was able to slip through the crowd easily. When he reached the entrance, Alex was already skating out the gate. So much for a talk, Logan huffed in his mind. He checked his watch. It was time to head to the gym. Whatever. He"ll catch him later.
Alex sighed. There were an important plan scheduled later that day. If Alex stayed and talked it out with Logan, who knew how long it would take. Even if it was short, Alex doubted it"ll end in a good mood. Altogether, it was better to put it off.
Stepping inside the house, Alex"s phone buzzed.
The ID: "Mrs. G" flashed on the screen with a message about dinner. Alex replied quickly and went to the bathroom. The warm water from the shower helped wash away the tension. Combined with scents of the shampoo and bath soap, it was a mini aromatherapy that Alex needed badly.
Alex had about thirty minutes left to get to the restaurant. Dressed in a baby blue that she loved, Alex slipped on her favorite sneakers. She blow dried her hair then, wrapped it up in a cap and placed a blonde wig over it. To finish off, she added a bit of make-up. A blonde tint for her brows, a black eyeliner for eyes, a light coat of mascara for her lashes and a little tint on her lips as well as on her cheeks.
She grabbed a purse with her essentials and headed down the stairs.
"Aunt Lilly?" She shouted as her feet hit the bottom floor. Alex didn"t hear an answer so she went to the living room, thinking her aunt must be busy watching her favorite show, "Aunt Lilly?"
It was empty. That was odd. Her aunt was usually the first one to come home between the two of them.
She checked the kitchen, "Aunt Lilly?"
She wasn"t there either. Alex sighed and turned back. Her aunt must be at the office, working overtime. She fished out her phone to text her that she left the house for her dinner plans.
Before she hit send, she heard the front door open. Alex exited the messaging app and jogged to meet her aunt at the doorway.
"Aunt Lilly, I—" her legs stopped abruptly when she saw who came in. It wasn"t her aunt. She thought it would be since the door was locked and only her aunt had the other key. Unless...
She gasped, realizing she didn"t lock it at all. Alex tried to speak but couldn"t find something to say.
The intruder"s eyes trailed from her feet to her head. His mouth opened wider the longer he stared. Her heart dropped. Oh, was she doomed.
"A—Alex?" Logan choked, "You"re a girl?!"
