Trust In Love

Chapter 3

The hand on the clock ticked by. Its sound echoed throughout the room.

Logan did not take his eyes off Alex. It was his first time to see Alex willingly expose arms and legs. They were smooth and slender unlike any male he"d seen. Even when it was hot, Alex wore long sleeves and layers. It was never just a shirt or just a sweater. It was always, at least, two items.

Some thought Alex had a skin problem but when they had to wear the shirts and pants uniform at gym, that rumor was squashed. Instead, they thought Alex was blessed with really good skin plus really fast metabolism.

But at the moment, realizing that there wasn"t a hair strand on Alex"s legs visible to the naked eye—plus there was the evident dumplings on the chest area, Logan sensed Alex was hiding something else.

Logan frowned, thinking, why did she hide it? Or is it he? The question circled around his head. Maybe it"s because Alex didn"t feel like a she..., he speculated then, or was it the other way around?

Sympathy swelled up in Logan"s heart. What did Alex go through to resort to this? Was she bullied? Was he shunned for wanting to be female? Or was she shunned for wanting to be seen as a male?

The nerves in Alex"s brain panicked. The number of faces Logan expressed under a minute made her uncomfortable. She needed to think fast. Logan was intelligent but either he understood the situation or he overthought it.

A photo hovered over Logan"s shoulder. Alex stared at it for a second. It was an old one but her aunt treasured it. In the picture, a boy"s arm was draped over a girl"s shoulder. It was their graduation day. Their proud parents stood on each side of them. They  were the dynamic duo of their generation and those two... were her aunt and her father.

Like honey that dropped out of the sky, an idea came into Alex"s mind. She thanked the heavens for the inspiration and prayed for guidance.

Groaning in complaint, Alex placed a hand over her chest. With a pitch higher than her normal voice, she exclaimed, "Good grief, I thought you were a robber!"

Logan"s head tilted to the side, "Huh?"

Rolling her eyes, she continued, "And can you please not? My brother, Alex, has it tough as it is. Sure, he"s not athletic or into body building but please, do not a.s.sociate his looks with the female gender!"

"Uh..."

Her body trembled as she kept the act together, "I"m Xandra? Alex"s twin sister?"

"Twin sister?" Logan crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow. For a pair of twins, they were too alike. There was no way fraternal twins had that much in common—especially after p.u.b.erty!

"I just said that"

He shook his head, "I"m not buying it"

Xandra huffed and crossed her arms as well, "Look, believe what you want. I"m not obligated to prove myself to you"

Logan"s tongue clicked. Alex wasn"t backing down nor was she pressing him to believe her. It was a good strategy but Logan wasn"t fooled. Pretending to buy it, he was determined to see how far Alex was willing to take it, "So if you"re twins, why don"t I see you at school?"
