"It"s done," Dam heaved a sigh. In front of him was a pair of shoes. A brown pair of suede ta.s.sel loafers made from the hide of minotaurs. As someone who grew up in a tailoring household, he chose to learn the specialty of bespoke shoe making. If the apocalypse hadn"t struck, perhaps he would"ve become a well-known bespoke shoe maker.
With his former experience in shoe-making, he was able to easily transition into armor making, and finally, weapon crafting.
Behind him, Spring-Autumn peaked his head forward and he gingerly picked up the pair of shoes. "Meticulously crafted, indeed,"
"Ah!" Dam yelled in surprise. "Where did you come from?"
They were inside the bas.e.m.e.nt of [Utys Bespoke]. This was Dam"s personal s.p.a.ce.
"I just walked in," Spring-Autumn said.
Dam: "..."
"Your grandpa was very welcoming," He added.
"As requested, I added a speed enchantment to it." Dam sighed and finally said.
"Oh?" Spring-Autumn has already experienced the wonders of Dam"s power but it did not mean that he was used to it. Every experience with it was always a pleasant surprise.
The next moment, the new pair of shoes were neatly occupied by his feet. Spring-Autumn did some exaggerated kicks in the air. The enchantment made his feet feel lighter than a feather.
"This is very nice," Spring-Autumn said as he continued kicking in the air like an idiot.
"What else do you have for me?" Dam asked with a resigned face.
After Spring-Autumn was able to get in contact with Dam, he naturally abused the man"s talent to the best of his abilities by providing him raw materials. This resulted in Dam working tirelessly from crafting armor from lizard skin or other various animal hides as well as various pieces of clothing from animal skin.
"You don"t need to give me that resigned look," Spring-Autumn laughed and said.
"Eh?"
"I"ll be leaving soon,"
"Leave? Why?" Dam was genuinely confused.
"You think there"s nothing outside?" Spring-Autumn smiled.
"Isn"t the city safer? Why would you want to leave?"
To this, Spring-Autumn merely laughed. Perhaps his ambitions would never be understood by anyone else. He patted Dam on the shoulder and made his way out of the shop.
Meanwhile, at the Primo estate.
Two men were standing at the entrance. One of them had hair as black as the night while the other had fair hair that shone under the sun.
They were Shadow and Winter respectively.
"This is your family house?" Shadow said in awe.
"Come on in," Winter led the way.
This was a house that Winter did not visit too often now that he was busy managing the [Users]. He had a separate house that was for his party members. That house was also the one that Shadow woke up in.
The main estate of the Primo family followed a traditional and rustic theme. Most of the construction was out of wood and brick. The lights were not too bright. It gave one the impression that they were transported back in time. It was very peaceful and calming within the mansion. At the side was an artificial pond. The sound of the water calmed the heart.
The wind blew and their clothes fluttered. Shadow closed his eyes and enjoyed the atmosphere. They arrived at the living room. The ceiling was high and there were several wooden beams that supported it.
Winter ordered one of the maids to brew tea and proceeded to sit down on the patinated leather chair. The deep l.u.s.ter and color that came from the patina gave a very luxurious feel to the leather.
They two cups of tea arrived and were neatly served on the coffee table in front of them. A cloud of vapor floated up from the cups and lingered in the air momentarily before fading. There was silence.
Shadow was the first to break the silence.
"Young master… Why have you invited me over?" Shadow asked slowly. Despite the power that he had, he held Winter in great respect.
"I"ve noticed you were up to some things lately, Winter lifted his cup of tea and said.
"Please don"t misunderstand… I"m not trying to get into your way."
"I understand that," Winter nodded. "Tell me. What is it that you need?"
Shadow hesitated.
"We can cooperate. Tell me what your goal is and I can help you," Winter"s tea cup returned to the table. He has yet to give up on roping Shadow over to his side. Winter understood what having Shadow at his side meant. "I plan on moving out to secure the other nearby cities soon,"
Winter continued. "The roads are now covered by gra.s.s but it"s not a problem. I have people at my side who can pave the roads again. What I need now is someone to be my sword. I can help you and you help me in return. With your help, we can save many people. Just think about the people who are suffering in those cities that don"t have order like this one."
Shadow listened to Winter"s speech with his full attention. He did not know why but he simply couldn"t tell Winter that his goal was revenge. In his mind, Winter was a n.o.ble man. One that would wholeheartedly save others. As for himself, he was just a crazed beast that had revenge and hatred at the top of his priority. Their goals did not align.
"I"m sorry," Shadow looked down.
"You don"t need to apologize. You"ve done nothing wrong. Think about it more and give me an answer," Winter said smilingly.
The tea talk ended there. At the entrance of the Primo estate, Shadow was about to leave. The wind blew and his sharp nose picked up a familiar smell.
He instinctively transformed into his werewolf state and bloodl.u.s.t rushed out like a tide. He knew what this smell was. It was the sickening smell of the person he hated so much.
"SIRIUS!!" He howled.
Winter stood in shock, not knowing what to do. He never thought he would see Shadow go crazy like this. On top of that, Shadow was running to… Spring-Autumn"s house.
