Uncovered

Chapter 1

[ Terri"s POV ]

The rain fell hard down the empty and quiet streets as I continued running as fast as I could for my life. I was holding my injured side tightly with my hand, applying pressure to it in order to stop the blood. My heavy breathing and beating heart were the only things that could be heard right now - well, along with the splashing sound my bare feet made each time they made contact with the wet ground.

"f.u.c.k!" Someone in the very distance shouted, which was followed by a loud crack of thunder echoing in the grey sky, followed by scary flashes of lighting. I jumped in surprise and quickly turned a corner to my left and rested my back against the brick wall. My feet hurt like h.e.l.l and so did my injury not to mention that I was freezing since my thin blouse was half ripped. I started inhaling and exhaling in a slow pace trying to calm myself down. If I wanted to escape those men and get out of here I had to be calm and think clearly, something that I couldn"t do right now, at least not in the condition I was in.

"d.a.m.n it." I cursed under my breath throwing my head back.

I didn"t have much time, their footsteps could be heard from where I was which meant they were close and they were going to get me I couldn"t let that happened, I didn"t want to end up like all the other girls.

NO, no, no I wouldn"t.

"Terri. come out here, Terri." A husky voice called my name in a singing way and I shut my eyes, taking in a sharp breath as my hand fisted my blouse.

They were closer than I thought and that scared me. I had to be extremely careful right now. Correy"s men were people you wouldn"t want to mess with, they were smart and strong.

"I know you"re here, Teresa. I can smell your sweet scent from miles away and it"s driving me crazy. I missed your angelic body." The man, whose name is Andrew, said in a loud tone and I rolled my eyes at his remark. He was disgusting. I opened my eyes slowly and looked carefully around the side to see the two men with their backs turned to me. They knew that I was here and I had to get away from them as soon as possible. I wouldn"t be able to hide here forever.

"Where the h.e.l.l is she?" The younger man asked Andrew with annoyance evident in his voice.

"She "s here, I can feel it," Andrew replied and turned around, making me back away against the wall again.

Get out of here, Teresa.

I listened to the voice inside my head and slowly started walking through the dark path, sometimes leaning on the wall beside me for support. The rain had become stronger and it made it almost impossible for me to see clearly, but that didn"t stop me from continuing. I had to get as far from here as possible. I looked behind me to make sure that no one was following me and smiled when I saw that the way was empty. I was safe, I actually managed to escape them.

"I did it". I whispered to myself in disbelief.

Managing to get out from a situation like this, especially after having Correy"s men after it was something very difficult and almost impossible, but I did it. Tears of joy fell down my dirty face and I collapsed on the ground, bringing my legs near me and resting my head on them. I didn"t want to go to Correy, ever again. He was a cruel man who could do anything in order to take what he wanted and this time what he wanted happened to be me. He wanted me.

I wiped away the tears with the back of my hand and then rubbed my palms on my jeans, trying to provide some kind of warmth. I really couldn"t believe how I ended up like this. Once I had a home, a family and friends, but now I had nothing. I was an orphan who lived in filthy alleys of London city and was being chased by dangerous people. I became the centre of attention of many people near Correy"s circle when I ran away a month ago and since then I had been living here in fear. Fear that the would find me and take me back there. I didn"t want to go back. That place was terrible. It used to be a real home for me when my parents died, but that was only until I reached the age of 18- which was one year ago, from then on, everything changed for the worst and Correy was no longer kind to me. I hate him. I really hated that man.

"I hate him". I whispered rocking back and forth.

I was tired and couldn"t stay awake for much longer. My eyes were burning from the lack of sleep and my eyelids felt heavy. I really wanted to sleep, I need rest, but I couldn"t do it right now. I felt like I was still in danger and that made me force my eyes open every time they were ready to close. But it looks like tiredness took over me and I couldn"t resist anymore, my eyelids eventually closed and I fell into deep but surely not peaceful sleep since my dream was haunted by his face and my screaming voice.

When I woke up I was still sitting in the same spot and I was in the same position. The rain had finally stopped and the sun looked like it was about to raise My teeth were chattering and my whole body felt numb as the cold air hit it, but being cold was the last thing concerning me. Actually, my attention was fully turned to the person standing in front of me.

Andrew.
