Underdog Versus Boss

Chapter Fifteen

Da Tian Ting lost her balance. She fell on the ground, and dropped her grocery bags.

The thief ran off and b.u.mped into Feng Kai Ze. Feng Kai Ze saw the thief had s.n.a.t.c.hed the crazy woman’s old bag, and didn’t bother to stop the thief or help the crazy woman stand up.

Da Tian Ting thought the man would help her chase the thief. But he walked past her without looking back. She thought it was a waste for him to born with height and strength. He was the opposite of a Good Samaritan.

‘Hey!’ Da Tian Ting called. ‘Are you a man? The thief b.u.mped into you. Even if you didn’t want to stop the thief, you could have done the decent thing to ask if I’m OK.’

Feng Kai Ze turned around, and looked at the crazy woman.

‘Miss, we’re strangers,’ Feng Kai Ze said. ‘Why do I need to ask if you’re OK?’

‘How can you say we’re strangers?’ Da Tian Ting asked.

Da Tian Ting reasoned it was the third time she and the grudge holding man b.u.mped into each other. How could they be considered strangers?

‘Miss, do you know my name?’ Feng Kai Ze asked.

‘We don’t know each other’s names,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘But we have met each other a couple of times. How can you say we’re strangers?’

‘Met each other a couple of times?’ Feng Kai Ze asked. ‘Now I remember. Wasn’t it you who called me an idiot?’

‘It’s a misunderstanding,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘I didn’t mean to insult you. I only wanted to give you back half the money I owe you.’

‘It doesn’t matter if it’s a misunderstanding,’ Feng Kai Ze said. ‘You and I are strangers. Bye, and I hope we don’t meet again.’

Feng Kai Ze turned around and walked away.

‘Hey!’ Da Tian Ting called. ‘Rotten man! Why do I keep meeting rotten men like you?’

Da Tian Ting wanted to know if good men were an extinct breed.

The bystanders thought Da Tian Ting was a crazy woman talking to herself. They avoided her, and didn’t help her stand up.

Da Tian Ting didn’t care about the people looking at her like she was crazy. She looked at her bleeding sc.r.a.ped hands. Then she looked at her ripped pants, her legs were sc.r.a.ped too.

Da Tian Ting propped herself off the ground. She ignored her pain, picked up her fallen essentials and walked to her bike.

No one cared if Da Tian Ting was hurt. It made her realise what a heartless world she lived in, and not having at least one person truly caring about her was an unbearable pain.
