From the fourth day of the infection …
Whether it was television news, newspapers, or the countless forums on the Internet, this topic was discussed everywhere.
Resident Evil has become reality … and it seemed like its plot would also be followed through.
Unease had spread throughout the entire New China Federation.
An untold amount of people had bought plane tickets with the intention of fleeing abroad, All the while, the other countries were laughing at the chaos happening in New China Federation, with their only response being a few words of encouragement without anything tangible.
Those were just some speculations.
But it also showed that a large amount of people had’t realized what the consequences of the spread of the Blacklight Virus would be for the world.
Humans would never be truly convinced of things which they haven’t seen with their own eyes.
“The world … was getting messier.”
In a city far away from the infection of the Blacklight Virus, a giant artificial pine decorated with various lights was placed on the Times Square.
It was right before Christmas, and even if it was New China Federation, businesses wouldn’t let such an opportunity to earn money just slip past them.
Snow was slowly falling.
A girl with long black hair wearing a school uniform from an unknown academy was sitting below the pine, pointing with her finger at her cell phone’s screen, and checking up on the latest news.
She had felt like the world was becoming more and more boring. Yet … now it seemed a bit more fun?
She looked at the large amount of news pertaining the Blacklight Virus on her cellphone’s screen, it was unknown why she hadn’t revealed an expression of panic like ordinary people would, but had rather revealed a somewhat gleeful expression.
But right at this moment, the gleeful expression on her face suddenly disappeared …
“Cla.s.smate Tokisaki ~” All of a sudden, a pair of hands appeared from behind her, and grabbed the girl’s not yet fully developed chest.1
“Eh!” She exclaimed, and quickly turned around.
“Little Kui, I’ll get angry if you keep doing this.”
She was covering her smile with her hand as she gazed at the unusually pet.i.te figure of a girl who gave others an urge to protect her in front of her.
“I know, tee hee. Cla.s.smate Tokisaki, what are your plans for Christmas? Wi
ll you spend it with your family?”
The girl called little Kui looked at her cla.s.smate who’s pretty black bangs were covering her forehead and left eye, and only revealing her wine-red right eye … although it was somewhat strange, but after getting along for so long, she got used to it.
Family? I had nothing the like prior to arriving at this world …
Now that she’d lost all her powers, how could she even get something like that?
The humans in this world were so powerful that she had to learn to disguise herself.
“I … suppose so.” She replied somewhat uncertainly. She was distracted, she had discovered an odd figure with an unusual walking posture behind little Kui. The figure was unhurriedly walking over.
“Who is … that?” She narrowed her eyes as she looked at the figure.
Currently, the entire Times Square was steeped in a festive atmosphere.
They were far from the infected areas; therefore, everyone was still living carefree lives.
Humans still hadn’t realized the consequences of the virus.
Until one day …
They …
Until they personally witnessed the so-called Doomsday!
“Cla.s.smate Tokisaki?” Little Kui tilted her head as she looked at her dazed friend. But …
“Grrrrr!”
A monstrous roar suddenly came from behind little Kui.
And then … little Kui’s blood as well as the astonishment in her eyes deeply engraved themselves into her eyes!
Who? Who is it? She retreated a few steps.
Along with the violent movements, the hood on the figure’s head came off … what greeted her were white pupils as well as a somewhat rotten skin!
This person! Is already dead!
Little Kui’s pet.i.te figure couldn’t resist the Zombie’s tremendous strength, and she instantly fell to the ground!
Should I go save her? As she watched; the scene of blood splashing about actually made her feel a long forgotten thrill!
“Ahhh!” In the Times Square, there was a constant flux of people; therefore, blood-tainted snow would not go unnoticed.
Everyone became panic-stricken; the shrieks of women were particularly ear-piercing!
Just as the scope of the chaos was expanding.
“Bang!”
There was a gunshot!
Who? She turned her head, and looked at the place from where the shot had come.
There were 2 soldiers …
Judging by the epaulettes, they should be New China Federation’s soldiers.
The so-called security officers?
Since when had trifling security officers such a strong killing intent?
The 2 soldiers were dressed quite oddly. Their were completely covered; they wore a pitch-black marine uniform along with a gas mask, with the eye windows of the gas mask shining blue.
The soldiers were swift and decisive; instantly after killing the Zombie, one soldier went over to check the condition of the victim, while the other soldier went to appease the surrounding chaos.
Surprisingly, the civilians had settled down after the soldier had shouted a few times … it was akin to … magic.
Of course it can’t be magic! In this age dominated by science and technology, the rulers would always resort to some underhanded methods to maintain their rule.
The soldier who had been checking the condition of the victim, secretly took out a needle and p.r.i.c.ked it into the victim’s neck without anyone noticing.
But Tokisaki; she naturaly saw everything clearly.
“Little Kui.” She stepped forward, and wanted to say something.
But the girl who had just been scared unconscious, however, stood up once more; though her pupils were dim.
“And you are …”
“I’m her cla.s.smate.”
She answered the soldier. Through the gas musk, the soldier’s voice was somewhat m.u.f.fled.
“Your cla.s.smate needs to get treatment. Please inform her family that we’ve taken her into our custody.”
The soldier grabbed little Kui by the shoulder; her expression didn’t show any resistance as if she had lost her soul.
“Understood!” She was clear about what she should do.
The soldier nodded his head, and then pushed little Kui to walk forward …
The other soldier scanned the surroundings a few times in alert; then lifted the already dead Zombie and followed behind.
Should I go?
It seems to be rather interesting.
The desire for blood prompted her to want to know more about this world.
Hence she stealthily followed the two humans … as a non-human life form, she wouldn’t be found out.
After turning a few corners, she arrived at the end of an alley; she leaned against a wall, and p.r.i.c.ked up her ears to listen to the conversation.
For them to bring people here was definitely not for the purpose of treatment.
“Which is it this time?”
A m.u.f.fled voice reverberated in the alley
“It’s the 7th. What do we do with the piled up bodies?”
“Hand them over to the Doctor to feed those monsters. Lately, the viral infection had led to a groundbreaking progress in the Doctor’s research.
“This kid should also be disposed of?”
Then she heard the sound of a gun being loaded.
Sure enough; it was … to kill.
Leave no one behind.
But …
“Who are you?”
“Open fire! Kill him!”
All of a sudden, intense gun fire came from the alley.
Then the sound of human flesh being torn.
“Uhh …”
“Don’t kill me! Don’t …!”
“Wu ahhhhh!”
Following the despaired cry of a human.
All sounds halted.
The snowy night became quiet.
“What happened?” Her curiosity prompted her to slightly stuck her head into the alley and take a look.
A monster … a monster with a pair of scarlet pupils!
“Was it you who had hindered me?” Lu Qiu’s fair fingers were tainted with large amounts of blood; he broke the neck of a soldier, and threw him aside: “b.a.s.t.a.r.ds, you’ve killed 7 infected! No matter how many I kill, there is no end to them!”
Lu Qiu looked at the pile of corpses in the alley; the smell of blood left him unfazed.
But someone still seemed to be alive.
“Sob … sob …” The girl called little Kui who had just been caught; tears filed her eyes as she watched Lu Qiu abruptly appear.
Did he came to the rescue? She was guessing the reason behind the monster’s behavior.
But this guess was totally wrong.
Bang!
With a gunshot, there was a hole on the girl’s forehead, and she fell to the ground; her blood flowed across the ground.
“Don’t look at me with such an expression.” Lu Qiu threw aside the pistol, lifted his head, and looked outside the alley.
But no one was there …
Was it a misperception? As a Vampire, Lu Qiu was only sensitive to the scent of humans.
It should be a misperception.
But on the other side.
So excited … what is it with this feeling of excitement?
She clutched her fiercely throbbing chest …
The smell of blood; it had been ages since she had last sensed the smell of blood …
