Sid could not help but stare at her. It was the first time Laurice initiated on touching him that it was somehow making his heart swell."Lucky!" A mishap suddenly turned into a miracle. He was so happy that his lips curled into a generous smile and his entire aura broke into an obvious delight. He was beaming with joy. He could not help but grin happily as he listen to her endlessly scold him with her beautiful and expressive eyes. Her voice even sounded so good in his ears. He was even ridiculously looking forward to hear her swearing which he think might sound cute, too. Her worried expression is melting all his defenses. He did not bother with his injury anymore and was contented to feel the woman"s warm and soft palm against his wrist.
...
Sid"s plan to make a simple dinner for the both of them turned out to be a disaster in the end. He was browsing through the web on his phone awhile ago on how to cook and have seen a few recipes that seemed easy to make. He wasn"t ignorant but he did not expect that such task was not possible for him based on his level of knowledge and experience. He actually have never tried cooking before. He did not even know the basics of holding a knife, much less operating those complicated and tons of machines and tools. He was never taught how to since his own mother have never used their kitchen herself as well. It was his father who had a bit of skill but they did not really need to cook for themselves since they hire cooks and chefs for the job.
However, it was such a disappointment that he could not even manage to actually fry some eggs for the woman, and even burnt the pan that he could not tell if it could still be salvaged for the amount of damage it took.
Still, he have no regrets trying to do something for her and was actually giddy that he was able to manage to grabbed the woman"s attention although it wasn"t a pleasant one, but still the outcome was favorable for he was seeing another side of her. The injury was in fact nothing to him and he would not mind getting hurt again if it will be treated by her herself.
He did not know that he possess such m.a.s.o.c.h.i.s.tic desires.
However, Laurice seemed to be throwing a fit in rage because he actually got a burn. It was only a minor injury caused by his plain stupidity of holding the hot stainless pan with his bare hands but it was enough to tick off the woman who was now looking so unexpectedly adorable while scolding him. She was fuming mad. He could almost imagine her nose flaring it was so amusing.
He could not help but grin widely. Unfortunately, it made the woman even more mad.
He was caught red-handed.
Laurice shot him a deathly glare before leaving him in the kitchen without saying another word all by himself.
*bang*
The woman went straight upstairs without looking back and Sid could only hear the sound of a door slamming.
He knew it.
He was done for.
The woman who was obviously p.i.s.sed have reached the limit of her patience.
...
It was Sid"s guilty conscience that made him resume cleaning off the mess he made himself in the kitchen. He dared not call for help to save himself some face.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps coming towards his direction.
"Leave it. Go seat over there." Laurice pointed to the living area. She was somehow giving off a cold aura that made Sid slightly shiver. He just could not point out exactly if he was shivering in fear or in delight. The woman still looks angry and was looking entirely different. The usual gentleness is gone and was replaced with a rather tyrannical, icy and frigid temperament.
A rare sense of danger is slowly creeping it"s way unto his heart. The woman looked slighty scary. But it wasn"t all bad because he found it quite "s.e.xy"as well.
Aye. Something must have been wrong with his head lately. He thought he would need to seek professional help soon.
He politely obeyed without saying a word and sat at the sofa and was behaving rather fittingly.
Laurice who was likely holding a medicine box on her hand has occupied the s.p.a.ce beside him and then silently proceeded with wrapping his now slightly swollen hand with a sterile, non-adhesive bandage.
He could not bear her silence towards him and it was making his poor little heart ache a little. The way she was treating him was making him even more guilty.
Sid: "I"m sorry Laurice. I"m really sorry. I didn"t mean to ... I"m just ..." He stuttered.
Sid cleared his throat when Laurice suddenly stopped.
He decided to come clean already and make light of the situation before her. He did not want to be treated coldly by her any more.
Sid: "I wasn"t making fun of you. I did not intend to make you mad and worried at all. I just wanted to cook dinner."
Laurice was surprised to actually hear him apologized. It sounded sincere but she was still worried about him.
"Dinner? But can you even cook?"
She was sighing inwardly but honestly, she was a bit touched with his intentions. It was sweet but the man was indeed reckless. He shouldn"t have done something that he knows nothing about.
Laurice: "If the pain worsens, go see a doctor immediately. Remember not to soak it or else it would be infected."
"Wait. Was he forgiven?"
Sid was only given a another piece of advice instead. He sighed inwardly.
...
Sid: "Yes. Thank you very much."
Sid was indeed grateful for her concern but was feeling a bit sad that her eyes seemed to be avoiding his gaze on purpose.
...
Laurice was done wrapping his hand and was about to stand up when she was abruptly stopped by a firm hand on her wrist.
She looked at the hand that was gripping her gently but firmly and shifted towards the man who was looking quite troubled.
Laurice: " ...? "
Sid: "Please don"t get mad at me Laurice. I"m really sorry for causing you trouble. Just, please don"t be angry anymore hmm?. I"ll make it up to you. Just, don"t ignore me Laurice." He sheepishly and worriedly begged.
Laurice was surprised with his words.
"Don"t ignore him, he said."
She wasn"t really trying to ignore him.
Sid looked quite pitiful begging her for forgiveness and she was starting to warm up inside.
The man looks so cute.
She did not expect him to beg at all.
It did not suit him his character well.
Hmm.
Fine.
Her heart mellowed.
Her features softened and the aura around her seems like spring was finally back and Sid was instantly relieved.
Laurice: "Don"t worry about it. Just sit here and rest. I"ll go make us dinner."
Sid did not want to let her go yet but he can"t be any more careless.
Laurice was about to go to the kitchen when he spoke, "Can i watch you cook?" He did not want the woman out of her sight at all. He was crossing his fingers that the woman would allow him to atleast watch her cook.
" ... "
Laurice halted and turned back at him and said, "Want do you want to eat?"
Without waiting for his answer, Laurice strode towards the kitchen first and started cleaning and preparing for the cook.
Sid was pleasantly surprised with her question. He thought she would scold him again but not only did she allow him to watch her cook, she was also caring about his preferences. He was generally a bit critical about eating but he did not mind having her cook him meals at all. He can have them at anytime of the day if possible and it would be his utmost joy. He could somehow guess that she is indeed a great cook.
"A great cook makes a great wife."
He happily followed her to the kitchen and was behaving rather exceptionally as he watch her "future wife" make him food.
