Chapter 64 Insect Nest
Before we knew it, my second aunt, who was still a meter away from the breakfast restaurant, leaped up; looking at her, it seemed like she actually wanted to jump through the gla.s.s and break straight through.
"Idiot!" Wen Jiubo roared loudly, and then also leaped straight towards my second aunt.
A huge crash sounded! I wasn"t sure who crashed into who, but the floor-to-ceiling window of the restaurant was completely smashed to smithereens by the force of the hit, large shards of broken gla.s.s showering down. There were patrons who immediately started yelling, and everyone stood up, of course including my uncle"s group who were sitting near the window.
My second female cousin was screaming loudly and backing away, my uncle and male cousin were both watching this entire scene in shock.
"What"s happening?!"
"What happened?!"
While everyone was still in shock, Wen Jiubo and my second aunt had already begun to fight. My second aunt was periodically making howling noises, she looked extremely vicious. She continuously used different ways to attack Wen Jiubo, even going as far as trying to bite his face.
"Gu Yu! Come help!" Wen Jiubo"s loud yell pulled me back to reality. I quivered but immediately ran over to help Wen Jiubo hold my second aunt down on the floor.
I watched as Wen Jiubo reached out a hand and roughly pressed down my second aunt"s chin. My second aunt didn"t let up, ducking her chin and then biting straight into Wen Jiubo"s hand, between his thumb and forefinger. It was immediately covered in blood, even looking at it felt painful.
However, Wen Jiubo didn"t pull back his hand, he didn"t even wince. He merely used the blood to start chanting a spell.
"By the power of the wind - evil be purged, demons begone!"
Wen Jiubo let some of the blood from his hand drip into my second aunt"s mouth. She suddenly seized hard, and then quickly relaxed, closing her eyes.
Everyone in the restaurant was curiously looking on, whispering amongst themselves. It was at this point that my uncle"s group, standing at one side, recognized who the lady who had gone crazy was.
"Shanqiu! Isn"t that Shanqiu?!" My uncle"s face drained of color. He pushed me aside and shakily walked until he was in front of Wen Jiubo. "What are you doing! What did you do to Shanqiu! What"s wrong with her!"
Wen Jiubo raised his head, coldly glanced at my uncle, and then stood up.
"She"s not Zhang Shanqiu. At least, not right now."
Before my uncle could process what Wen Jiubo"s words actually meant, my second aunt"s body suddenly seized up again and then she opened her eyes.
The scariest part was, those eyes… were not the same as a normal person"s. There was no white around her pupils, both her eyes were entirely black.
Wen Jiubo was right, that was definitely not my second aunt, but rather something else.
"Leave quickly, don"t make me force you to go." Wen Jiubo said coldly. "Otherwise when the time comes, you won"t be as carefree as you are now."
It took me a couple of seconds to realize that Wen Jiubo was talking to the w.a.n.gliang within my second aunt"s body.
The w.a.n.gliang, using my aunt"s body, twisted its face into a very unnatural expression, the corner of its mouth lifting in a sneering laugh. "It"s too late, you"re too late. What a pitiful person, this woman is such a pitiful person. She was always waiting for her love to return and save her like a knight in s.h.i.+ning armor. Always waiting, waiting, and in the end, she was only able to wait for this kind of ending. Hehehe…"
Wen Jiubo"s brow creased, he pointed his b.l.o.o.d.y hand at that demon, straight as an arrow. "Shut it. You either come out of that body now, or I"ll kill you where you stand. These are your two choices!"
"So, so…. It"s too late. You came too late." The w.a.n.gliang was still giggling. That sort of expression, paired with my second aunt"s face, was terrifying. "There"s no out anymore. We"ve combined into one now. It"s already too much, too much."
"What"s too late? What"s too much?" Wen Jiubo continued to frown, asking in a low voice. "Explain yourself!"
My heart was thumping away, an uneasy feeling welling up from within.
"Look for yourself. Look! We"ve already settled into our home, we can"t come out anymore. Hehehe, you"re too late, too late." The w.a.n.gliang mumbled as it smiled evilly. It was then that Wen Jiubo seemed to suddenly notice something, his face showing his shocked astonishment and he even took one step back.
"What happened! What"s wrong?" I asked, worried.
"How did it become like this…" Wen Jiubo muttered to himself.
Seeing that Wen Jiubo had ignored my question, I became even more agitated. No matter how I looked towards my second aunt, I couldn"t see anything strange or out of the ordinary.
"What"s going on? I can"t see anything!"
"Close your eyes, calm your heart, and then look towards the place where you feel is the coldest." Wen Jiubo took my hands, telling me in a low voice.
I took a deep breath and nodded, following Wen Jiubo"s instructions. When I opened my eyes, all of my hair stood on end as I sucked in a cold breath.
I couldn"t believe what I saw before my eyes.
Black bugs.
Not just one, there were countless black bugs on my second aunt"s body. They were the same as the one I saw on my grandfather"s back in my dream, except the last time, I only saw one. This time, it was as if I was seeing an entire nest of them.
There were both big and small bugs that enveloped my second aunt"s body entirely. They were also writhing, their red eyes constantly looking towards me standing there in shock.
My stomach flipped hard. Even when I s.h.i.+fted my gaze away from those writhing bugs, I could still see the scene replayed in my mind again and again. Before I could even say a word, my hand was already across my mouth. I ran as fast as I could to the corner and threw up everything I had just eaten in the night.
"So many…" Wen Jiubo also seemed to be in shock. "When did you start targeting her?!"
"When did— we?"
The w.a.n.gliang"s sharp voice suddenly multiplied, the black bugs all starting to talk over each other.
"Ten years —"
"Twenty years ago!"
"Five years ago."
"It started from when this woman became hopeless with despair —"
"It started when her father was completely consumed by us —"
"It started when this woman was driven mad by living —"
"It started when this woman killed her husband —"
"It"s too late, too late!"
"You"re already out of time!"
The laughter from the black bugs echoed in the air. Even when I put my hands over my ears, it was no use. In the end, the bugs" voices combined together, a heavy and evil sound.
"It"s too late! You"re already out of ideas. In the end, you"re just a — normal exorcist!"
Was there really no other way? I looked around, desolate. The diners at the restaurant had long been scared into silence. Even my uncle"s group had fear in their eyes.
Suddenly, someone from the crowd shouted out loudly, the end of the sentence still wavering with fear.
"Kill her!"
