" Although most of the people in our family hate her , I cannot help but think that she isn"t bad . " thought Browen .Browen kept thinking about Kiara and the past . He was trying hard to link the action of the past and understand how she changed so much . At the end of the corridor, there was a corner from which Kiara suddenly appeared with her hands full of food .
" The person I was thinking of right now is in front of me ?! " thought Browen surprised .
The bright smile Kiara was wearing in her face from the delicious sweets she was holding didn"t last long when she saw Browen . She didn"t want to start a useless fight and decided to avoid him by going on her way .
"" You sure have changed a lot Kiara but you still remain childish . By seeing how childish you"re sometimes , makes me wonder how you managed to be an Heir candidate . "" said Browen with a serious face . Kiara stopped and came near him .
"" You can continue to wonder if you like but you will just be wasting your time since I already am a candidate . Try using the time you waste on me , on your revisions . "" said Kiara with a smirk looking straight in his eyes .
" The look in her eyes .....fearless , fierce .....I can see the fire burning inside them . " thought Browen looking at her deep brown golden eyes . A slight breeze started which slowly made Kiara"s hair fly messily .
She was eating sweets and a bit of strawberry cream was left at the corner of her lips . A few of Kiara"s hair stuck there and she wanted to take them down but the sweets she was holding had blocked her hands . Browen noticed this and laughed a little which made Kiara a bit annoyed .
He raised his hand and delicately removed the hair from her lip .
" Childish girl ! " said Browen with a warm smile .
It was the first time that Kiara had ever seen Browen smile like that to her . When seeing him like that she thought that maybe he wasn"t as cold as he looked or behaved . It was true that he didn"t talk to her or Justin in the past but neither did he treat them bad like the other Willows so she didn"t have a reason to hate him . He sometimes went along with the other children but mostly tried to avoid talking to them rather than scold or make fun of them just like the others did .
" Thank you . " said Kiara a bit unwillingly .
When she looked at Browen , she noticed a small shining light that was directed towards his head . It was really far from where they were standing. Even she felt it weird that she was able to noticed such a thing . Browen saw that Kiara was looking at the back of his head . Her eyes were concentrated there .
" It"s shiny but why doesn"t it seem like a normal light ?! Maybe... " thought Kiara then after a few seconds she noticed that in fact it was a rifle .
At that moment Kiara actually could see the bullet come out of the rifle . She let the small pastries and sweets in her hand to fall on the ground and pulled Browen towards herself . This caught him a little of guard . As a result, he didn"t maintain his balance and fell upon Kiara .
" Browen , what are you doing ?! Get off ! " said Kiara .
" You were the one who pulled me Kiara ! " said Browen .
The bullet that was directed at him hit the golden decoration and ruined it .
" See ?! You should thank me for pulling you or you would have been dead by now ! " said Kiara pointing at the golden decoration that was destroyed .
Browen understood that this was an a.s.sa.s.sination attempt cause the bullets weren"t stoping . He hurried to get up first and then helped Kiara to get up too . He took her hand and started to run carefully since the shoots continued .
" My poor sweets and pastries ! " said Kiara in a sad tone while looking back and seeing that they were left on the ground .
" Unbelievable ! Try to save yourself first Kiara and then we can think about pastries later . Now we have to save ourselves . " said Browen running .
He watched around with hope to find a guard but there was no one . It was deserted and this was really weird since every part of the palace was filled with guards .
" Could this be a plan of a.s.sa.s.sination from the start ?! " thought Browen who remembered that even before he met Kiara the place was unusually quiet .
" The are continuing to shoot and there"s still no trace of the guards . What are they here for ?! Why do they want to kill us ?! " thought Browen .
"" Browen , lower your head ! "" said Kiara and thanks to her reminder Browen was able to escape another bullet .
They ran for a bit more until they were able to find a place where to hide .
"" Search for them ! "" said one of the men that were following them . These men had their face covered by a black mask and on their waist, they had a belt that was full of bullets .
"" Judging by the large number of bullets that each of them carries , they must be determined to kill you ! "" said Kiara looking at Browen .
" Kiara is right ! They won"t stop but I wonder who"s really the one they want to kill between us two? " thought Browen looking at Kiara who was watching the a.s.sa.s.sins .
"" We need to a way to ask help . It"s clear that we can"t win against them . "" said Browen .
"" I know but I am sure you have already realized that there aren"t any guards around . Even if we find someone to ask for help , that person would probably be on their side . With all this noise someone should have come by now but no one is showing up . It"s all planed so we need to save ourselves . "" said Kiara and Browen nodded cause he had the same opinion .
Browen started to look around and try to come up with an idea to escape but it was useless without a fight with them .
" I don"t really want to admit this but .....if we want to escape safely the only way is to collaborate . What do you say ? " asked Browen with a serious look .
Kiara looked at him and unwillingly nodded her head in agreement . She knew very well that alone she didn"t stand a chance against them but if both of them cooperated then maybe they could win against them .
" If Justin was here , it would be much easier . Next time I am not leaving anywhere without him ! " thought Kiara .
" What are you worried about ? " asked Browen , noticing her worried expression .
" Can you manage to catch up my rhythm ? " asked Kiara with a serious expression .
" Are you saying that I am slow ? " asked Browen a bit angry .
" Don"t look at me like that ! I am being serious here ! It"s not the time to pick a fight . " said Kiara .
" You started first ! " said Browen .
" I asked you because if we want to win we can only use our fists for the moment since we don"t have any weapons we can use . If we are synchronized then we can avoid the bullets and beat then . " said Kiara which made Browen think .
" I need to see how you fight to determine your level and rhythm . After seeing you fight it will be easier for me to understand what kind of backing is needed . " said Browen with a serious expression .
" I heard rumors about your unique ability to be able to understand a person"s fighting skills and weak points just by watching them but I never believed it Browen . " said Kiara with a smirk .
