Silence surrounded Dumbledores office as he and Vincent looked at each other for a long time. The silence was broken when Dumbledore gave a small chuckle as he indicated Vincent to sit.

"Creating a dragon first day back?" He laughed, "You do know how to make a scene."

"It wasn"t my intentions," Vincent grumbled as he sat down, "and it"s a Dretle."

"Maybe not, but you still must take responsibility for this," Vincent scratched his head in embarra.s.sment, "fortunately, no student or teacher was harmed so your punishment will not be too heavy."

Vincent sighed in relief.

"But before we get to that, I"ve been meaning to talk to you," Dumbledore suddenly grew serious, "about how you caught the eye of Dracula himself, a Kings Candidate. Sister An had sent me this particular news."

Vincent grimaced, "Wasn"t my intentions either."

"Dracula has not shown himself in the open for the past several hundred years," Dumbledore said, "out of all the non-human magical creatures, he is by far the strongest. Fortunately, he rarely interacts with the outside world. Well, not personally."

"I"ve heard of tests that he gives to Candidates," Vincent said.

"Indeed," Dumbledore nodded, "however, you are much too young for that now. There"s a rule that the next heir must be above the age of seventeen. That means you have a few years to prepare."

"A few years," Vincent thought before Dumbledore clapped to get his attention.

"Well," Dumbledore suddenly turned cheery, "I"m going to leave your punishment to Mr. Filch. Hagrid would be happy to look after that Dretle of yours until it"s ready to be moved. Thank you for your time, Vince. Lemon sherbet?"

"..." Vincent silently accepted the candy.

...

"You know, if anyone else was in your situation, they"d skip homework," Vincent said as he looked at all the open books on Hermione"s sheets.

"If anyone else had to mop the whole second floor of Hogwarts as punishment, they"d learn not to create random potions," Hermione said.

"Touché," Vincent mumbled, reading his book.

Argus Filch had Vincent mop up the whole of the second floor. It took well over a day before Vincent finished. The castle was enormous and all he got from Filch was, "Satisfactory," making Vincent feel even more miserable.

"Hey, I nearly forgot," Vincent said digging in a pouch of his, he pulled out a small box before handing it to Hermione, "it"s a bit late, but Merry Christmas."

Hermione froze as she dropped her pencil. She stared at Vincent who scratched his head.

"I brought this at Diagon Alley, I hope you like it," Vincent said pa.s.sing the box to her.

Hermione was silent for a moment before she opened her mouth, "Thank you."

"You haven"t even opened the box and your thanking me?" Vincent said jokingly.

"I don"t care what it is, just the fact that you got me something is more than enough," Hermione gave an incredibly happy smile that stunned Vincent. The cat ears also amplified the effect by tenfold.

Hermione took no notice however as she opened the box. Her eyes widened as she lifted a small thin golden chain.

"A necklace?" she thought.

"It"s incredibly simple, I didn"t want to get anything too flashy," Vincent said snapping out of his trance, "it also has a charm to self-repair in case of small damage."

"I love it!" Hermione knocked over some books as she hugged Vincent, surprising him, "thank you!"

Vincent blushed in embarra.s.sment as he hugged her back, trying to stay calm. He noticed the twitching cat ears and decided to pet them.

Wrong move.

SMACK!

"Ow," Vincent said covering his head.

"You surprised me," Hermione said as she blushed, "their extremely sensitive you know!"

"My bad," Vincent mumbled, "their just too fluffy though, and they feel nice."

"I"m not some petting machine," Hermione said indignantly, "maybe if you ask—"

"You"d let me if I ask?" Vincent asked confused.

"I-no, why would I?!" Hermione said quickly.

There was an awkward silence before Hermione decided to break it.

"I really do like the gift though," she said smiling.

"Glad to hear it," Vincent also smiled at her.

Vincent had brought gifts for several people and had handed them out. Harry had received a book about Quidditch tricks which he loved.

Ron got a whole ten galleons since Vincent didn"t know what he liked. To Vincent, ten galleons were reasonable, but to Ron, it was like the most precious thing in the world. After receiving the gift, Ron had started crying tears of happiness while hugging Vincent"s leg. It took a solid five minutes to get him off. Now that he thought about it, he and Ron didn"t talk much alone.

Neville received a boxing kit with a punching bag and boxing gloves. There were also pads so that another person could practice with him, but with spells, there"s no need.

Luna has gotten a set of Rubik"s cubes, two by two, three by three, nine by nine, triangle shape, star shapes, Vincent had brought as many types as he could. Luna gave him a gentle hug. Vincent admired how Luna could make anyone feel loved.

"Thank you, Vince," she said with a smile.

Hagrid had received a harmonica since Vincent remembered him mentioning liking music at some point. Hagrid was pretty happy with it and would often play it to his dog, Fang.

...

//To Dumbledore

Dumbledore raised his eyebrows at the large sack full of colorful socks sitting at the door to his office. He turned the letter before chuckling to himself.

//Merry Late Christmas - Vincent

//You mentioned liking colorful socks, hope there"s enough

...

"..."

Snape was standing at the open door to his office with his eyes twitching violently. He saw a black box on his desk that he approached carefully.

"A trap?" he thought, carefully as he prodded the box with his wand, "Doesn"t seem to have any enchantments, a prank then?"

Snape carefully opened the box to find some brand new potion-making equipment. His face remained neutral as he looked through to find stirring rods, spoons, and knives of the highest quality. He soon spotted a note on the lid.

//Merry Late Christmas - Vincent

Snape snorted, "Doesn"t the boy know I could easily get these myself?"

Despite that, Snape carefully replaced his old equipment with his new ones.

"d.a.m.n brat," he thought, he had a small twitch on his lips.

...

"Here Ginny, Merry Late Christmas," Vincent said giving her a snow globe.

"WhWait for me?!" She asked surprised.

"Well, we are friends right?" Vincent said handing it to her.

"Thank you, Vince, but I didn"t—"

"Don"t worry about it, I don"t mind not getting presents," Vincent said, "It was fun for me getting others something."

"Oh," Ginny said as she placed the globe on the table.

"You seem to look better than the last term," Vincent noticed.

"Yeah, I got rid of the problem," she said trying to smile, but failing, "but it still bothers me."

"Want to talk about it?" Vincent asked.

"I—" Gunn began before stopping, "I can"t, sorry."

"It"s fine," Vincent smiled, "I told you before if you need help, you know who to call."

"Thank you."

"No problem."

The two of them sat there looking at the snow in the globe settle down.

...

"So no attacks for a couple of months now, what happened?" Vincent thought as he sat in the Common Room doing his homework, "Well, the good news is that Hermione said she was getting discharged today."

"Hey Vince," Dean Thomas came by, "I heard your opening up a food shop near that workshop of yours, when exactly does it open?"

"I still need to make a menu, not to mention getting a good supply of ingredients. Earliest you could expect it is in a week," Vincent said stretching, "Why the sudden interest?"

"Seamus and I wanted to stop by at some point," he said before looking at Vincent"s work, "man, your probably one of most hardworking people I know. Makes me feel d.a.m.n lazy."

"Heh, your not too bad yourself Dean," Vincent chuckled before noticing Harry and Ron a.n.a.lyzing a diary of sorts, "listen, don"t demean yourself, we"re both young after all. I"ve got to talk to Harry about something now, catch you later."

"Take care," Dean nodded before joining walking to the dorms.

"What"s this, Ron"s diary?" Ron glared at Vincent while Harry chuckled, "I"m kidding, so what"s so interesting about it?"

"I don"t know, someone tried to flush it in Moaning Myrtle"s toilet," Ron explained, "Harry here finds it interesting for some reason."

"T. M. Riddle, a person that received an award for special services to the school fifty years ago," Harry said, "according to Ron."

Vincent raised an eyebrow while taking a seat next to them, "Ron said it?"

"Unbelievable right?"

"Yep."

"You guys, I"m sitting right here," Ron said annoyed at Harry and Vincent"s exchange.

"Couldn"t help it," they both said at the same time causing Ron"s eye to twitch.

"Oooh, it might have hidden powers," a voice said enthusiastically, taking the diary and looking at it closely.

"Hermione, when"d you get here?!" Ron asked alarmed at her appearance.

"Around the part when someone tried flushing it down the toilet," she said.

"Fifty years old," Vincent muttered exchanging knowing glances with Harry and Hermione, leaving Ron confused.

"Am I missing something?" Ron asked making all of them roll their eyes.

"Well, the Chamber of Secrets was opened fifty years ago, wasn"t it?" Harry said. "That"s what Malfoy said."

"Yeah..." said Ron slowly.

"And this diary is fifty years old," said Hermione, tapping it excitedly.

"So?"

"Can I punch him in the face?" Vincent asked, looking pleadingly at Harry who just shrugged, "Ron, both of those events happened fifty years ago, what if Riddle receiving a reward happened because of the Chamber of Secrets?"

"You mean like capture the culprit?" Ron asked finally understanding, "great theory, except that this diary is empty."

Hermione her wand out of her bag.

"It might be invisible ink!" she said.

She tapped the diary three times and said, "Aparecium!"

Nothing happened. They all watched as Hermione continued to pull out a red eraser, explaining that it was a Revealer, before rubbing the blank pages only to still have nothing happen.

"I"m telling you, there"s nothing to find in there," said Ron. "Riddle just got a diary for Christmas and couldn"t be bothered filling it in."

Harry still took the diary with him leaving Vincent to frown. The Chamber of Secrets was opened fifty years ago. Now that it"s been opened again, the diary appears belonging to a student from fifty years ago. All of this seemed too, coincidental.

"You ok Vince?" Hermione asked.

"Yeah, I"m fine," Vincent shook himself out of of it before smiling at Hermione, "I"m really going to miss the cat ears."

Hermione just sighed as she smacked his head lightly with a book. Vincent just stood there awkwardly laughing before smiling to himself.

"Glad to see you"re wearing it."

"Hm, oh, yeah," Hermione put her hand on the necklace that Vincent gave her while smiling slightly.

"So, what do you think about the diary?" Vincent"s voice turned serious.

"There"s a lot of questions surrounding the diary," Hermione said thoughtfully, "for it to appear at this time, it feels way too coincidental."

"You think that too eh?" Vincent nodded, "I personally think that we should pa.s.s it to Dumbledore, but I really don"t expect Harry to listen. He"s a bit too stubborn, as is Ron."

Hermione chuckled at that, "True."

...

"You know, I missed many things at Hogwarts," Vincent mumbled, "Lockhart wasn"t one of them."

"..." Hermione just scratched her head, "I"m starting to see why."

They had just walked into the Great Hall to see it all decorated in a disgusting pink. The walls were all covered with large, lurid pink flowers. Worse still, heart-shaped confetti was falling from the pale blue ceiling.

"What"s going on?" Harry asked them, sitting down and wiping confetti off his bacon.

Vincent and Ron both pointed to the teacher"s table where Lockhart was wearing pink robes to match the decorations. All the teachers were looking like someone had killed their best friends. Snape, in particular, looked like he wanted nothing more than to murder the dim-witted teacher.

"Happy Valentine"s Day!" Lockhart shouted, "and may I thank the forty-five people who have so far sent me cards! Yes, I have taken the liberty of arranging this little surprise for you all – and it doesn"t end here!"

Lockhart clapped his hands and through the doors to the entrance hall marched a dozen surly-looking dwarfs. Not just any dwarfs, however. Lockhart had them all wearing golden wings and carrying harps.

"My friendly, card-carrying cupids!" beamed Lockhart, "They will be roving around the school today delivering your valentines! And the fun doesn"t stop here! I"m sure my colleagues will want to enter into the spirit of the occasion! Why not ask Professor Snape to show you how to whip up a Love Potion! And while you"re at it, Professor Flitwick knows more about Entrancing Enchantments than any wizard I"ve ever met, the sly old dog!"

Professor Flitwick buried his face in his hands. Snape was looking as though the first person to ask him for a Love Potion would be force-fed poison, scratch that, they will be force-fed poison.

"In case you ask, no, I didn"t send him a card," Hermione said catching Ron opening his mouth, "every lesson we have is another piece of respect lost."

"But you idolized him!" Ron said surprised.

"Maybe he did that stuff in the books, and maybe he didn"t," Hermione said eating her toast, "but unlike someone else, he continually boasts of his achievements instead of teaching properly which is extremely annoying."

"Someone else?" Harry asked causing Hermione to turn her head in embarra.s.sment.

"That"s personal."

Vincent was currently keeping an eye out on the dwarfs in case one came right at him.

Throughout the day, the dwarfs kept barging into cla.s.srooms giving valentines, much to the annoyance of the teachers.

"Vincent Wong, I got a musical for you," Vincent instantly grabbed a potion filled with white powder before throwing it on the dwarf.

Everyone stared shocked at the scene while the dwarf just fainted.

"He"ll be fine," Vincent said placing the dwarf to the side, "sleep potion, powdered version. Shouldn"t bother me for the rest of the day."

"...you just carry that around with you?" Ron asked fearfully.

Vincent wisely chose not to answer that.

Late that afternoon as the Gryffindors were walking upstairs for Charms, one of the dwarfs caught up with Harry.

"Oy, you! "Arry Potter!" shouted a particularly grim-looking dwarf, elbowing people out of the way to get to Harry.

Harry paled considerably before running, trying to escape the dwarf.

"Vincent, have you got any more powder?!" Harry asked desperately.

"You"re on your own," Vincent called, "this place is too crowded, I could accidentally put them all to sleep."

Everyone took one large step back from Vincent.

"As expected of the Mad Scientist," Vincent heard one of the students discussing, causing his eyes to twitch.

"I"ve got a musical message to deliver to "Arry Potter in person," the dwarf said, tw.a.n.ging his harp in a threatening sort of way.

"Not here," Harry pleaded, still running.

"Stay still!" grunted the dwarf. Everyone"s eyes widened at his incredible speed as he made a mad dash, grabbing hold of Harry"s bag and pulling him back, ripping the bag in the process.

The contents spilled all over the floor with Riddle"s diary being among them. Harry"s ink went all over the books, ruining some of them

Harry scrambled to collect his items while the dwarf began to sing.

((His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad, ))

((His hair is as dark as a blackboard,))

((I wish he was mine, ))

((he"s really divine,))

((The hero who conquered the Dark Lord))

Laughter came from the whole corridor while Harry tried to play along.

"Yeah, it"s official," Vincent mumbled, "I never want to hear another dwarf sing."

"What"s this?" Malfoy"s voice was heard, silencing the corridor.

He was holding onto Riddle"s diary. Vincent sighed and was about to say something when he noticed Ginny looking at Malfoy with a pale face.

"Why does she look all terrified?" Vincent observes closely to where Ginny was looking, "Wait, she"s not looking at Malfoy, then what exactly is she—"

"Expelliarmus!" Harry yelled causing the diary to fly out of Malfoy"s hands and into Ron"s.

"Harry!" said Percy loudly. "No magic in the corridors. I"ll have to report this, you know!"

Malfoy was looking furious, and as Ginny pa.s.sed him to enter her cla.s.sroom, he yelled spitefully after her, "I don"t think Potter liked your—!"

"Stuff an egg in it RMalfoy," Vincent said while stuffing an actual hard-boiled egg into Malfoy"s abnormally largemouth as he pa.s.sed by.

Malfoy struggled to swallow the egg with his face red in both embarra.s.sment and anger, while his goons just stood there looking helpless about the whole thing.

Everyone laughed while even Ginny, who looked to be in an awful mood smiled slightly.

"I"ll see you guys later," Vincent said to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. He couldn"t use magic so this cla.s.s couldn"t do anything for him.

He walked off as he thought about where to go next.

"Let"s visit the Dretle," he thought, making his way to Hagrid"s.

...

"I"m really goin ta mis him," Hagrid said sadly as he tossed some fish into the Dretle"s mouth, "Romanian Wizards are c"mn tomorrow ta take im away, they specialize in dragons. But kinda got me self attached to im."

Vincent nodded as he pets the beetle head of the Dretle. It roared or chitted softly while closing its eyes in comfort.

The Dretle had finished it"s evolution over the past month. Unlike many other dragons, however, it"s red scales and spikes were extremely clean and mirror-like, not rough like other dragons. No matter how dirty they got it always seemed to clean itself.

"Watching my own creation go makes me sad too Hagrid," Vincent gave a chuckle before jumping on its back, alarming the giant, "that"s why I"ve got to try this at least once."

"V-Vince, wh-what ar you—"

Too late.

The Dretle started running, creating small craters on the ground. It started flapping its wings trying to achieve takeoff.

"Come on, you can do it, buddy," Vince smiled as he felt the Dretle start lifting off, "YEAH!"

Hagrid watched in amazement as the Vincent and the Dretle took off into the air, he heard Vincent"s shout of victory and couldn"t help but scratch his head nervously.

"Nothing too bad should happen righ?" he thought.

...

"Excellent Miss Granger, ten points to—"

Professor Flitwick paused as a large shadow fell over him. He turned around, only to fall off his stool when he saw the Dretle looking in curiously with Vincent waving. Everyone in the cla.s.s clambered to the windows. Hermione sat at her desk with her face in her hands while Harry and Ron just smiled wryly at each other.

"Sorry for interrupting your lesson Professor," Vincent apologized to the fallen teacher.

"IF YOUR SORRY, WHY DID YOU COME HERE?!" Flitwick felt like crying over his interrupted lesson.

"I"ll try to make it up to you," Flitwick"s face relaxed when he saw the sincerity on the boys face.

Vincent honestly felt bad about interrupting the man"s lesson. He had overlooked the fact that a giant dragon, or Dretle could interrupt other lessons.

"Mr. Wong," Flitwick called through the open windows, "I"ll let you off this time, but I would advise you to take you"re, Dretle was it? Back to the grounds."

"I"m on it Professor," Vincent said, telling the Dretle to go back.

Flitwick sighed before turning back to continue his lesson. He then heard a small distant crash, causing him to pale considerably as he looked outside. He nearly fainted seeing the Dretle above a badly damaged tower, obviously having crashed into it. A small top section had been broken off.

"Um, my bad," Vincent yelled, before cringing at an incredibly loud voice filling the whole school.

"VINCENT WONG!" Professor McGonagall"s voice rang across the school, making other students look curiously out their windows to see the commotion.

"Well c.r.a.p," Vincent muttered while patting the Dretle which looked confused.

...

"One month of detention with Snape—"

"I"m, very busy with potions," Snape said quickly stunning McGonagall. Snape never once refused to hand out detentions.

In truth, he was just worried about his office blowing up.

"Well, one month with Lockhart—"

"My dear Professor, how can you joke like that," Lockhart said with cold sweat flowing down his back, "how can a n.o.ble teacher such as I, possibly give punishment for such a minor mistake."

"I"m not punishing that little devil," Lockhart thought fearfully.

"Flitwick then—"

"It was just a small mistake, Minerva, I don"t think Mr. Wong could be faulted for this," he said hurriedly.

Flitwick truly liked the boy for how much life he gave to the castle. Not to mention that even the cruel Snape and the dim-witted Lockhart didn"t want him.

"W-Well," Professor McGonagall was running out of options before Hagrid ran into the meeting room.

"Please don"t punish Vince," he said alarmed, "he jus wanted to say goodbye befor the Dretle was gon, an besides, Vince is a good boy, he"ll make it up to all o ya."

"But we must set an example that students cannot get away with breaking school property," Professor McGonagall began before being interrupted by another knock, "who is it now."

She stormed to the door, opening it to see a very nervous Vincent.

"Um, I"m here to apologize for interrupting all your lessons," Vincent said rummaging through his bag.

He took out multiple pouches before placing them all in a tray.

"These are for all the teachers," Vincent said handing it to a stone-faced McGonagall, "each one has three types of potions with four of each. I have a slip explaining the potions. There"s my invention the Sleep Potion which purifies the body while getting rid of all the stress and exhaustion after a good night"s sleep. The other two are just mainstream potions to deal with aching muscles and relax the mind and body."

"Very well, you may go now," McGonagall said curtly.

After Vincent left, she turned to the other teachers and Hagrid before taking a pouch.

"After further insight, Mr.Wong will not be given any punishment, now if you excuse me, I"ll see you all in the morning."

Everyone stared slack-jawed as McGonagall power-walked out of the room. Some even swore she had an excited look on her face.

"Did Professor McGonagall, one of the strictest teachers, just let a student off?!" They all thought alarmed.

The room was silent before everyone took their share of potions before heading off. Snape was the last one to leave with his eyes twitching violently as he looked at his pouch with a complicated expression while striding to his office.

...

"Thanks for the help Nyx," Vincent said to the pixie who gave a salute before feeding hard-boiled eggs to Blimp, the Fairy Dragon Snake. For some completely random reason, it got addicted to the food, explaining the reason why Vincent even carried those eggs around.

Nyx had named the pink snake one day while coming across the word in Vincent"s books. Vincent had tried to change it, but Nyx would get all teary-eyed on him. In the end, Blimp the snake got its name.

"At least it was happy with it," Vincent thought, smiling as he pet it with a finger, "still need Harry to try and talk with it."

He decided to head to bed early and walked up to the dorms where he met Ron along the way.

"Hey, Ron," Vincent said, "Harry"s not with you?"

"Yeah, I"m checking the dorms for him," Ron frowned, "he seems a little attached to that diary, I hope it"s not cursed."

"Cursed?" Vincent asked, earning a "duh" type of look from Ron.

"Yeah cursed," he said, "there are books that literally curse whoever reads it, I"ve even heard of one that ate a person"s hand once."

"Wow," Vincent thought as they opened the door to the dorms, "Hm, Harry, what are you doing?"

Harry sat there at a desk sweating with the diary opened up in front of him.

"It was Hagrid," he said hoa.r.s.ely, "Hagrid opened the Chamber of Secrets."

"Sorry, what?" both Vincent and Ron looked confused.

AUTHOR"S THOUGHTS

((//Author"s note here since Webnovel doesn"t allow a long message for some reason))

Hey guys. BrotherBook here with another update of Wandless. I just wanted to take this chance to explain some things about how often I will update.

I would usually write at least one to two chapters a week, although there may be times I would write more. This is mainly because I"m not a fast writer and the fact that I constantly have to recheck the chapters for mistakes (Yes, I realized that it was Professor Sprout, not Squat). Also, I"m currently planning out an original novel that I hope to post at some point, but there will be no guarantees.

I did not expect many people to read this so imagine my surprise when others started liking this story. One of the main reasons I made this story was to test myself on how well I could write and learn from my mistakes. I won"t drop this novel, so sorry to all but don"t expect me to upload five to ten chapters a week like other authors, I"m not that fast.

Thanks again for reading my story, I hope to see you all again.
