Portia was a humanoid spider. Her face belonged to that of an angelic lady, and she seemed to be harmless if not for her eight bulging red eyes, salivating pair of fangs, and arachnid body. The spider"s abdomen was a huge golden rock salt, and her eight long yellow legs were covered in red fur. However, the Brotherhood of s.h.i.+rtless Punks were not perturbed by the humongous monster above them. They carefully observed the Spider Queen from below.
"Should we strike it now, Husk?" Porkchop, the Savage Berserker with the head of a brown boar, asked.
"Let"s check the waters first, lest we trigger some unexpected visitors. Remember, if there"s a queen, there will always be a king." The player with the grey wolf head answered. He was the acting team captain for the group of Savage players.
K-9!
Two metallic b.a.l.l.s suddenly appeared out of nowhere in front of Cyber Husky. These two objects rolled on the ground and transformed into tiny mechanical spiders. The first one latched itself on the series of webs, while the other one scurried on the orange limestone floor.
...
Papa Bear was currently hiding behind Udil, a very unmanly sight for a tank.
"Hey! Is it just me, whose experience bar is increasing?" Macca, the white goblin managed to squeeze a question, while marking the charging spiderlings with his arrows.
The group was now compressed in a triangular formation, with the Orc inside. Three green b.u.t.terflies floated above them, keeping their HPs at a safe level. It was Udil"s skill - Whisperers of Life.
"Yup, this is the good thing about dungeon matches. You can grind an abundant amount of experience by killing the mobs and bosses. Hey! Why don"t we lock our experience bars for now, so that Papa Bear could catch up to our levels? He"s our tank, but he"s the one with the lowest level in our group." Al responded with a suggestion.
War Grounds allowed players to freeze their experience bar. In return, this feature enabled the other party members to receive the full amount of EXP from slain monsters. It was a technique used by higher-leveled players to power level their friends or allies. However, you"ll seldom find a selfless person that will do this for you in the game. More often than not, they will charge a price, or sometimes you"ll owe them some favor in exchange for their services.
Due to the lack of action from Papa Bear, he was not getting any EXP from the slain spiders.
"Hey, dude! Yow! Buddy! You"re a man, remember? This is your chance now to catch up to our levels. Just smash them!" Macca comforted the quivering orc.
"But spiders don"t have skulls!" Papa Bear screamed like a chic; his orcish sound made it creepier.
"Hey, we need to do something about this, Al." Jack sent a private message to his team captain.
"Yup, we"ll have to redirect the spiders toward him and see how it"ll go. There"s no other way after all. I"ve already informed Harvy. So, in the count of three, dash out, and don"t forget to lock your experience bar!" Al answered back.

[Do you wish to resurrect?]
If one described the face of Patrick Gadlock inside his gaming helmet, there would be no better description than "daunted."
Who knows how many times had the dwarf already died under the unseen attacks of Osho?
[Yes.]
"d.a.m.n it! I"m not learning anything here! I"m better off joining a solo-ranked match than spend my time here!" The dwarf grumbled inside the Custom Room. He was once again returned to his original position - facing Osho.
"Haha! That"s because you"re not paying attention! I said, watch out for the vibrations!" Osho reprimanded.
"What vibrations are you talking about? All I see is an expanse of white before my screen turns red!" CancerIsLife bickered.
"Tsss. You"re a terrible student than Al. You should have said so sooner! Watch my sword, then!" Osho planted his sword on the white floor. "Now, can you see it?"
"See what?!" Aside from the sunk katana, there was nothing unusual that Pat had noticed.
"The vibrations!" Osho"s patience was starting to thin out.
"There are no vibrations! How many times have I told you already?!" Pat shouted.
"That"s because you"re not willing your brain enough to focus! In this game, it"s not your character"s attributes that will carry you through. It"s your brain! Every movement creates a distortion in the s.p.a.ce! If you can get your brain to pick that up, then you"re going to be one h.e.l.l of a healer! Do you understand!? Now, I"ll just have to keep on killing you, until your brain adapts! Here I come!" With a dash, Osho instantly disappeared from his position, but his katana was left behind, still sunk on the white floor.
...
"Found them!" Cyber Husky"s screen was split into three - his view, and the other perspectives from his summoned units.
His other summon was still on the web slowly nearing the Spider Queen, careful not to trigger its aggro, while the other one managed to pa.s.s through the small openings in the cobwebs and scouted the area ahead.
"Huh? Why is this Orc"s EXP Bar increasing by chunks? Why is there a bear? I thought that there"s no summoner cla.s.s in their unit?" The Savage Mechanic wondered upon checking the view on his right screen.
The skill "K-9" allowed Cyber Husky to get a brief a.n.a.lysis of all the characters that entered his summons" perspective. Just a while ago, thanks to the mechanical creature, he was able to deduce that it will take at least eight players to take down the Spider Queen. "Karrie, prepare to destroy the webs! We"ll need to lure the Spider Queen towards their area. TicTab, you"ll scout ahead and take care of that Udil. Beware, he"s got a hidden cla.s.s! If you could burst him down in one go, then do it as soon as possible. Pork will take control of the aggro, and I"ll keep watch of other possible surprises."
Transform!
...
Previously, when Udil and the other two dashed out of their formation, Papa Bear was left behind to fend off against the majority of the spiderlings. Unfortunately, he was not still making any moves to defend himself as the creatures happily gnawed their way through his thick blue skin. His life points decreased in chunks.
"Al, Papa Bear will die at this rate! I think that this is a bad idea!" Jack immediately sent a warning.
"It"s okay. I"ll heal him at worst case. He needs to pa.s.s through this ordeal." Al calmly replied.
"Hey. You should stop this. That huge man obviously has arachnophobia. There"s no easy way out of that situation, dude." Harvy advised.
"No, that"s just some irrational fear. In the face of death, people"s brains will have to adapt. Papa Bear will have to overcome this dread if he wants to become a better tank." Al was resolute with his plan. "After all, there"s still that bear that was as strong as his brother," the boy muttered to himself.
When the Orc"s HP dropped at 10%, Al immediately shouted. "Bertran! Man up and activate "Bipolar"!"
Timed seemed to slow down as the brown-bear headgear on the orc"s head glowed red.
Grawwwrrkk!
A low, guttural, menacing sound came from the headgear. It seemed to be alive. Meanwhile, the latched spiderlings on Papa Bear were sent flying by an invisible energy.
