War Grounds

Chapter 74

Osho gestured a circle with his right hand in response to Al"s taunt. He flashed it towards the other members of WisDOOM, who were sitting on the bleachers before finally displaying it in front of his best friend. It was the number of times that Al had won against him in a fight - zero.

"Woahhhh. The captain has never won a match against Teacher Osho?" Jack"s tone was full of energy as he hyped the match like what commentators do.

"He"s higher in level, Jack. What"s wrong with you?" Patrick bickered as he and Jack immediately engaged in a silly argument.

"Why did you bet on Captain, Harvy?" Meanwhile, Bertran casually sked the Savage a.s.sa.s.sin beside him.

"He"s a different person than before. I think that he"s stronger now. However, if he can"t win against Osho, I"m quitting." It was the longest reply that Harvy has ever said and the coldest.

Jack and Patrick immediately stopped arguing as they were surprised by the length and content of Harvy"s response.

"s.h.i.+t! Now we"ll have to look for a new a.s.sa.s.sin for our team!" Jack joked as the other two that betted on Osho, laughed. However, Harvy did not mind them as he remained silent. His solemn gaze was focused on Udil"s figure.

...

Osho has long taken note of Al"s weapon. He was sure that Bloodborne has only three forms - staff, flamberge, and bow.

However, in their previous fight against the two Demon Samurais, a katana and red dagger suddenly appeared in Udil"s hand.

There"s only one way to confirm his a.s.sumptions. Charge! The Human Samurai disappeared in a blur.

It was unusual for Al to be relaxed in a one versus one battle. The boy"s unusual calm caused Osho to be intimidated by a bit.

Osho was getting a feeling that he was facing a different opponent, someone who"s immeasurable and unpredictable.

Meanwhile, Al disappeared as he activated Stealth in response to Osho"s initiative to attack.

"Oh, come on! How are we supposed to enjoy this if the combatants are all invisible?!" Papa Bear hollered from the bleachers as the circular battle arena suddenly became empty.

"You"re as readable as ever, Al!" Osho mocked as the stealth skill was within his expectations. He quickly reached his friend"s previous position, which was already abandoned.

The samurai immediately surveyed the surroundings as the tip of his katana kissed the ground. He was feeling the vibrations from the earth.

"Found you!" Osho quickly had a rough idea of Udil"s location. He disappeared in a blur once again.

Slas.h.!.+ The Samurai boldly put forth his katana on the seemingly empty s.p.a.ce, ten body units northwest of his previous location.

Osho smiled as he felt that his blade has punctured a flesh even though what"s in front of him seemed to be nothing but air.

Poof!

Udil"s figure was suddenly revealed. However, it quickly disappeared as it turned into billows of white smoke.

Osho immediately knew what it meant. It was a clone!

The samurai suddenly felt multiple vibrations coming from his back.

Shadow Clone! Udil used a ninja skill!

Four Udils came out of their stealth, the silver-blood flamberge in their hands ready to cut down Osho.

"That won"t work, Al!" However, Osho was not caught off guard as he flipped back, agilely dodging the three attacks and parrying the remaining one. In the brief opening that he had created, he immediately planted the katana on the ground.

Shrine of the Fallen!

Several red sword lights in the shape of katanas suddenly encircled Osho"s body and shot toward the ground. The four figures were immediately pierced by the projectiles. However, all of them poofed, Udil"s real body was not among them.

Osho suddenly grinned with the turn of events. His friend had indeed grown by leaps. However, he will not allow himself to be defeated!

The brown eyes behind the yellow tengu mask suddenly blazed red. Osho was in the middle of the circular formation of the red sword lights.

Shrine of the Fallen was a domain skill that increased its user"s agility and strength by 40% for one minute upon activation.

Under capable hands, a minute is more than enough to finish one"s opponent.

Osho held Shogun"s Wrath tightly as he once again felt the vibrations around him. "No movement?!"

[Go attack him now!] SARS commanded Al.

The reason why Al was not yet attacking was that he and SARS were still arguing on how to proceed. All that the boy asked from the robot were skills to counter a samurai, but SARS kept on whispering suggestions to him when the fight started. As much as possible, Al wanted to win the match with his own strength.

"Wait! I forgot the line for the blade. What was that again?" Al sent in the chatbox that was only available between him and SARS.

[ SARS out. I"m tired of advising you. ] Just like that, the robot disappeared when he was needed the most.

Fortunately, Al was not the cry baby anymore. It seemed that the role of being a captain significantly helped in shaping his maturity.

"Gu-Guhing. Yup. The Blade of Guhing." Al did not move from his position as he tried to remember the lines to activate the flamberge in his hands. He was currently on the far right corner of the arena, a reasonable distance away from Osho"s domain skill.

The only problem with Samurai Domain skills was that it does not allow its user to move. It should be used if one was about to face the "last stand." Unfortunately, the shadow clones were just baits to distract Osho.

"Guhing...Guhing...the Demon collector of blades." Al finally remembered the lines.

"Guhing, lover of blades

The things you treasured were the spades that dug your grave

Come, now is the time of retribution

Show the world your splendid collection!"

The silver-blood in the shape of a flamberge held by Udil started to dissipate, revealing an obsidian wave-bladed sword.

"It"s showtime!" Al no longer minded the vibrations that he was about to create as he charged with excitement towards Osho.

Piston Lungs!

Udil"s character was finally unveiled as the undulating blade in his hand burned brightly.
