War Of The Realms

Chapter 3

I wake up to the sun pouring through my window. I squint at my clock and realise it"s already past nine. Time to go to work. I climb out of bed and put on a dark purple crop top, black skinny jeans as well as black boots with gold decorations and a black choker to top it off. Very black, very me. I brushed my hair cleaned my teeth and eventually ventured through my door to the outside world.

I didn"t work at a market or at a school- I worked at a guild. A guild was where people who had fighting skills, could be employed to deal with "problems". However these weren"t deal with leaky pipes sort of problems, no these were deal with stray mythical creatures or dangerous criminals sort of problems.

If the demons who weren"t loyal to Shad weren"t being hunted down, I would be able to use my magic to deal with these "problems", but I have to rely on my fighting skills and keep my magic a secret, so I can carry on camouflaging among mortals.

The humans here are already suspicious about me, because my clothing choice isn"t the same as their plain old, brown rags, but no matter how badly I need to camouflage, there is no way in h.e.l.l I"m wearing their style.

The guild can be a bad place for a rebel like me to work, but I couldn"t survive in any other. Even if it"s high risk, it pays well and it"s entertaining mostly, even if I"m just watching guild banta.

I arrive outside an inn-like building and venture through the wooden door. Instead of meeting friends and colleagues and sitting down for a drink like everyone else, I walk straight to the Quest Board. What jobs we got today?

As I"m scanning the various job advertis.e.m.e.nts, I suddenly feel a presence come up behind me. I swiftly turn around to find myself face to face with a man. He was young, most likely the same age as me, with short brown hair which was slightly messy and a face that for some reason I knew I would see again. He wore blue jeans, a green top and black trainers. Like me, his dress code wasn"t like everyone else"s traditional.

"Can I help you?" I asked coldly. "Yes actually. I was wondering if we could talk, I have a conversation choice that I think you"ll be highly interested in." he replied, smiling like he was speaking to a friend and not a total stranger. "What makes you think I would be interested in anything you have to say?" I had never seen this guy before and yet he talked like he knew me better than anyone. "Well let"s just say I know your not like anyone else here." he replied, unaffected by how cold I was being. For some reason, my gut told me I could trust him, although I had never met him before. He said he knows I"m different, does that mean he is too? Had I found another rebel?
