Chapter 92: The Coming Storm

The man was extremely triggered. He pushed the flirtatious barmaid away and jumped up all of a sudden. The other guests cheered instead of trying to stop him, as they sensed that a fight was about to break out.

“Calm down, dude,” Moxinke said smilingly. He didn’t even take the guy seriously.

“Fight! Fight! Whoever wins, I will buy him a drink!”

“Five golden coins, I bet that the big guy will win. Wanna bet?”

“d.a.m.n it! Do you that I’m stupid? The big guy is a fighter! I’m betting on him as well!”

The onlookers’ chants got even louder, while the man’s expression kept changing. He dared not start the fight first. If Moxinke were alone, it wouldn’t be a problem, but the whole team was a tough nut to crack. If the opponents were all seventh or higher grade professionals, their overall fighting capabilities were by no means as easy as 1+1. Good cooperation among a team could multiply combat effectiveness.

Even the guests on the second floor were attracted to the scene. A short and muscular man with a big beard looked down. When he saw Han Jin, a glow of hatred flashed across his eyes. The hatred was so strong that Han Jin, Sunier, and Reg all sensed it and looked up.

But the short and muscular man had already bent down. The light inside the bar was very dim, and there were so many guests on the second floor that they occupied the entire second floor railing. The three of them found nothing, and thought it might just have been a delusion.

At the same time, the owner of the bar came to them with an apologetic smile, mediating between the two quarreling parties. Moxinke was not afraid of fighting, nor did he want to stir up trouble, while the other man quickly left after throwing a golden coin toward the owner without asking for his change, as he had a reason to leave.

The spectators hissed and booed while some even blamed the owner for destroying the fun. The bar owner was obviously a sophisticated man who had gone through a lot of these situations. He was not irritated at all, and sincerely apologized to the guests. The small drama was soon wiped out.

An hour later, after Han Jin and the others had left the bar, Moxinke was very excited after drinking. He unb.u.t.toned his clothes and started humming a tune. Joyfulness could occur everywhere in life, and the key was whether you were good at excavating it or not.

It was already late at night, and there were scarcely any pedestrians who could be seen on the street. They talked and laughed while walking back. Everything was normal, at least in their eyes. After turning a corner, Reg suddenly stopped. “I want to see a friend of mine. You go back first.”

“A friend?” Han Jin was confused. Reg had said it too abruptly. “Do you need any one of us to go with you?”

“No, I can go by myself.”

Han Jin was deep in his thoughts. Reg must have something important to deal with, and it was private. Therefore, he better not ask about it, nor stop him from going. “Then go. Be back early.”

“I will.” Reg smiled and walked into an alley at fast speed.

“Where is Reg going?” Moxinke watched Reg’s receding figure and asked.

“To meet a friend of his,” Han Jin replied with slight hesitation. He wanted to help Reg, but feared that his good intention would cause misunderstandings if discovered. If he did nothing about it, he would definitely be worried.

“He’ll be fine,” Sunier coldly said. “Reg is different from Moxinke. He is a reasonable and clear-headed man, and clearly knows what he should and shouldn’t do. Let’s go back first.”

“What… do you mean?” Moxinke asked angrily. His good mood was half ruined. “Different from me? You mean I am a flighty and muddle-headed man? What have I done that is less rea.s.suring?”

“What do you think?” Sylner asked to show her agreement with Sunier. The truth was, she was very disappointed for not getting what she wanted, even though she thought to herself that she had tried her best to be gentle.

“Well, well. Let’s go back. Let’s not let Cessacioun wait too long.” Han Jin laughed.

Moxinke looked at Sylner and Sunier but did not dare provoke them. He just muttered to himself and continued walking by himself. His good mood was completely ruined now.

As they reached the courtyard, the gates were closed, following the sounds of talking and laughter, and soon everything turned quiet again.

After some time, a surrept.i.tious figure peeped its head from the corner of the street and looked into the courtyard. It kept all the things around it in mind before retracting its head back, and was about to leave when it stopped. A glittering dagger with cold light was clung at his throat, and an icy feeling was infiltrating into the depth of his soul.

“You already followed us here. Why leave now?” a figure hidden in a cloak coldly said.

The furtive man was stunned. He immediately recognized that the figure in the cloak was none other than one of his targets who had left the group much earlier. He was terribly shocked, but since he had already been discovered, there wasn’t much that he could do other than act dumb. “My Lord… what are you doing? This…This is all I have. Please, don’t hurt me…” The man put his hand into his pocket at an extremely slow speed and took out a money bag.

“Do you know what’s the last thing a low grade thief should do?” Reg didn’t even look at the money bag. “To tail after a high grade thief. In doing so, you will die in an awful way.”

“My Lord, I… I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You don’t have to know. Turn around and walk,” Reg slowly said.

“My Lord…” the man kept calling while showing an obsequious smile. But suddenly, his neck dodged aside, and a dagger appeared in his hand, stabbing Reg’s chest.

Reg swung his arm, a streak of cold light flas.h.i.+ng and then vanis.h.i.+ng. The man felt dizzy, and in the next moment, he found his right wrist being firmly gripped. Reg was neither tall nor robust, but he was a strong man. The man felt that his wrist that was being grasped would soon be broken, and had no other choice but to drop his dagger that was in the other hand.

“Remember what I just said? You will die in an awful way.” Reg gave him a sarcastic smile.

The man suddenly felt that there was something flowing down the side of his cheek, and unconsciously wiped his face, only to find that his hand was full of blood and some kind of glistening liquid. Then, he found himself blind in one eye, but he didn’t feel any pain at all. It was such a weird feeling that it drove him crazy. Just as he was about to scream, the icy dagger came at his throat again, followed by the chilly voice, “You only have one chance left to disobey my order. Believe me, if you disobey, I will let you know the price for it, and you will regret it.”

The man looked at Reg in horror with his remaining eye. After a long time, he slowly turned around and walked toward the courtyard.

Reg knocked on the door several times. From inside, there were voices of two people walking towards the door. Sunier said, “There’s a smell of blood!!”

“It’s me,” Reg immediately said, afraid that Sunier might abruptly jump out and attack him.

The door finally opened. Upon seeing the one-eyed man, Sunier was startled at first and then leaped aside, making way for Reg to come in with his captive. “What happened?” she asked.

“This guy was following us,” replied Reg in a low voice.

“Come in first,” Sunier said, closing the door. Keeley came out from behind a tree, and nervously looked at the one-eyed man.

Reg kept walking with the man next to him, while Sunier quietly went to the big tree at the corner of the courtyard and leaped up, hiding herself in the leaves and watching around absorbedly.

Han Jin, Moxinke, and the others who were inside the room, were all startled. “What happened?” Han Jin asked, his eyes staring at the pathetic one-eyed man.

“This guy was following us.”

“You said you had something to do… it was to catch him?” Han Jin asked.

“Yes.” Reg nodded. “It was…”

“You did the right thing.” Han Jin patted him on the shoulder. They were all at the scene at that time. If Reg had told them that someone was tailing after them, some of them would have definitely looked around, and in this case, the result would have been different.

“d.a.m.n it, you dare follow us?!” Moxinke cursed. But he was a relatively tender-hearted man who immediately perished the thought of punching the guy upon seeing his b.l.o.o.d.y face.

“My Lord… I’m going to die…” the one-eyed man pleaded in a quivering voice. He tried his best to tightly close the wounded eye, but blood kept flowing down, dyeing the soft armor before his chest, and half of his trousers, in a bright red color within minutes.

“Tell us the truth if you don’t want to die. Who ordered you to follow us?” Han Jin asked in a low voice. He was satisfied with Reg in all regards, except for his mercilessness and cruelty. Mere tracking shouldn’t deserve such irreversible means of punishment, and Sunier had overrated him as a reasonable and sober man. He was clear-headed because he had found the man following them, but it was by no means reasonable for his way of punishment, as it was too extreme.

“He tried to kill me,” Reg suddenly said, as if he had read Han Jin’s mind.

“Oh?” Han Jin’s face gradually became dark. It wasn’t a big thing if the man had just tried to follow them, because he might have done this out of curiosity, but things would be different if he had intended to kill Reg.

“It’s the forging master… one of General Jason’s subordinates. He paid me to track you,” the one-eyed man replied quickly, and cried, “Please let me go, My Lord. I don’t want to die like this.”

“General Jason?”

“He is the commander-in-chief of the cavalrymen of West City. A very powerful man.” Reg coldly looked at the one-eyed man. “Are you lying to us?”

“My Lord… I am a dying person. Do you think I dare to lie to you?” the one-eyed man said with a trembling voice. “Let me go, My Lord, I beg you!”
