Chapter 5: I"d Rather Die Than Get Married (2)

Mo-Chuul walked out of the room and ran upstairs, dragging Seung-Hee with him towards the dressing room. All four sides of the room were covered in clothings.

"Get dressed."

Mo-Chuul unwrapped the belt tightened around his waist. The robe slowly fell without wait; his broad shoulders laid bare and Seung-Hee was captivated.

Seung-Hee immediately turned around in dismay.

"I didn"t see anything."

She hurriedly answered.

But she knew the truth was far from it. In fact, she seemed to have seen the color of his boxers, but it was best to erase it from her memory.

"I don"t care."

He replied nonchalantly.

"Why? Do you plan to steal anything down there and run off with it?"

Seung-Hee closed her eyes at his teasing.

"Hha…! Alright, I"ll be quiet."

It was silent.

Odd.

Seung-Hee opened her eyes a moment later and saw Moo-Chul had changed his clothes quickly. His back was back leaned over, looking at her face closely with pleasure.

"What do you have to say for yourself? That you tried to steal the contract from me in a way that won"t cost you a dime and a cent."

He teased her.

Seung-Hee resisted and made no reaction, only biting her lips.

After a while, he turned around and picked up the keys to the car resting on the table.

"Let"s go. I"ll take you home."

"It"s alright. I"ll take a taxi."

"Well, alright."

He didn"t argue, a kind gesture.

Moo-Chul grabbed a coat hanging on the wall and wrapped over her shoulder.

"It"s still cold outside so wear this."

"No, it"s fine."

"No need to be adamant. I was going to throw this out anyway."

Does he think of her a fool? Someone easy to play with? It sounds heartless to peg him that name, but he seemed to enjoy playing around with the game of "love" as he led her to the entrance gate while her hands was stuck in his trouser pocket.

He did say the night was cold.

But still… it was awkward and embarra.s.sing.

Why is the path to the front gate a long walk?

"You must think of me a player."

"Is there any way I can change your mind?"

There was a distant siren drawing near, its blaring sound growing closer.

Seung-Hee did not know anything, but she knew he knows how to seduce people with his bare looks alone, smiling sweetly to her, determined to woo her over. But to Seung-Hee it was anything but sweet.

"Well, it"s no big deal."

Seung-Hee did not answer.

Moo-Chul sighed and shrugged off his shoulder.

"Since we"re like this now, we should get married."

"No, I don"t want to…"

She stuttered. As she had not spoken since the earlier incident, the tone of her voice hadn"t been delivered properly.

Meanwhile, two ambulance pa.s.sed by. They had reached the front gates before they knew it.

"Did you call a taxi?"

"Yes, it"s right over there."

She said, beckoning the approaching taxi to where she stood.

"Goodbye. See you later."

He said cooly.

"What do you mean see you later?"

Seung-Hee got into the car, her mood taking a downturn. Then she called her father right away.

"It"s Seung-Hee, my dearest daughter! Did anything happen? I saw an

"I hate you most in this world!"

When her father answered the phone, Seung-Hee cried out in tears. She had almost lost her integrity.

She directed the taxi driver to stop at a street and got out before jumping into her father"s car. Her father saw a gloomy aura rising from her body so he wore a face full of sorries.

"Dad, you disappoint me."

"Didn"t you send me there on purpose to agree on the marriage?"

"Dad, was that why you"ve been so nice to me? Was that why you gave me both a bowl of chicken legs? Was that why you allowed me to eat a whole bowl of ice cream?"

Tears welled up in her eyes.

"What? You want me to be like Simcheon, the devoted daughter?!”

"….I didn"t think it"d end up like this. Ah, by the way, when did you change your uniform? Did he made you do that?"

"Why are you asking something so useless?"

"Why do I have to go through all this. Dad, you should go talk to Chairman Han Tae-Jo. Dad, you should say, "I"m sorry, sorry that I couldn"t pay you back.""

"If you want someone to get married, you get married! Why does it have to be me? Why must I have to marry the chairman"s grandson?"

The grandson seemed to be in favor of the marriage judging by his att.i.tude towards it.

"The chairman"s grandson had always been ill since he was young."

He suddenly began telling the story of the olden days.

"Because the cause of his illness was unknown, treatment was difficult to find. Doctors even said that he wouldn"t live through his adulthood."

"He looks very healthy right now."

"Really? Are you a doctor now? Are you able to judge with one look?"

Seung-Hee"s mouth twitched. She swallowed her words and listened to her father again.

"That"s why Chairman Han Tae-Jo made the deal with great hopes that his grandson would be alive to see the day he gets married and start a family of his own. At the time, I needed the money badly, and the chairman just so happened to be there. And as you said, he may have forgotten the contract because his grandson is now healthy as you said… that"s why I made you grab the contract."

After listening to her father"s story in silence, Seung-Hee now understood the situation a little, but still, her anger flared up.

"I don"t know. And also, there wasn"t a dog in the house. I couldn"t even hear the dog barking!"
