Chapter 109 - 109 Unable To Withstand The Temptation, An Awkward Chance Encounter
109 Unable To Withstand The Temptation, An Awkward Chance Encounter
The next day, in front of Good Me’s milk tea shop.
w.a.n.g Chen and his roommate met again. The two of them stood at the door and stared at each other like two statues. They hesitated and wanted to walk into the shop, but they did not want to walk in front of each other.
“Didn’t you say you went to the library?” his roommate asked.
“Didn’t you go drink a man’s drink?” w.a.n.g Chen asked.
“…”
“…”
“I’m here to see the G.o.ddess,” w.a.n.g Chen said stubbornly. “I went back last night and thought about it. How could the beautiful G.o.ddess be wrong?”
“…I was going to the tavern, but it was too early and the place wasn’t open yet. I… came here mindlessly.” His roommate’s mouth was even tougher than his.
w.a.n.g Chen might have believed it if not for the fact that he was holding a promotional leaflet for the new milk tea product.
“Since you’re already here, you have to find something to drink.” The roommate hid the flyer behind him and said very understandingly, “Let’s go. I’ll accompany you to see the G.o.ddess.”
“Let’s go.”
In the end, the two of them realized that Ai Tingya was not in the shop. They could only “reluctantly” buy a cup of milk tea each.
…
On the third day, in front of Good Me’s milk tea shop.
The two of them met at the same place again.
This time, the two of them did not greet each other. They pretended not to see each other with an unspoken mutual understanding. After buying the milk tea, one went east and the other went west. They had an extremely tacit understanding.
…
On the fourth day.
The two of them simply stopped pretending. They each held a cup of milk tea and sat at the seat they had come to for the first time.
“The milk tea is so delicious.” w.a.n.g Chen was still like a happy rapeseed flower.
His roommate corrected him. “It’s not that the milk tea is delicious, but your G.o.ddess’s milk tea is delicious. I’ve been drinking from another company these past two days. It’s fragrant and delicious.”
w.a.n.g Chen glanced at his roommate and hugged the milk tea. “You said you were going to drink. So you were going to inspect the milk tea shop.”
“I just don’t want you to give money to your love rival.”
“Then I have to thank you?” w.a.n.g Chen said angrily.
“Forget it, let’s not talk about it. Everything is in the milk tea. Cheers.”
Let him swallow the awkward topic along with the milk tea just now.
The two of them sat by the window and watched the people coming and going outside. All the young people who pa.s.sed by the door looked up at the signboard and walked in no matter which direction they were going.
It was as if there was a magnet in the shop that could suck people in.
w.a.n.g Chen was curious. “Speaking of which, don’t you think the shop’s business is very good?”
Just as the two of them were talking about paintings, there was a long queue in front of the bar.
w.a.n.g Chen took a few more glances and realized that many of them were cla.s.smates from their school. However, as far as he knew, three days had pa.s.sed since Ai Tingya’s photo incident and the popularity had long subsided.
“There should be a lot of repeat customers, just like us.” His roommate picked up the milk tea and shook it, the pearls inside shaking. “And Ai Tingya only appeared in the shop on the first day. In other words, they didn’t come to see Ai Tingya. The milk tea is really delicious.”
Good Me Milk Tea Shop purely relied on the taste to retain customers.
w.a.n.g Chen nodded thoughtfully. He felt that it was indeed better than others.
Unintentionally, he saw a familiar figure in the corner.
He poked his roommate and said, “Look at the man in the corner. Doesn’t he look a little familiar?”
His roommate narrowed his eyes and observed for a while. He said in surprise, “Isn’t that Senior Yan Kaize? He’s a legendary big shot in our finance faculty.”
The two of them looked at it again and again and realized that it was indeed Yan Kaize, the legendary figure mentioned by their mentor.
Even though he was a senior, Yan Kaize had actually fought more than ten years more than them. He was almost 40 years old and had graduated from school for almost 16 years.
The reason why w.a.n.g Chen and the others recognized him was because Yan Kaize had entered JPMorgan Chase after graduation. In just a few years, he had become an agent of the Asia-Pacific region and was the company’s youngest regional manager.
Just as everyone was feeling envious, Yan Kaize made a decision that surprised everyone.
He resigned when he was about to be promoted to CEO and established his own investment company.
In the next few years, Yan Kaize’s Good Wood Investment Company seemed to have grown wings. Any project he took a fancy to developed rapidly. Until now, Good Wood Investment Company controlled billions of yuan.
He had already become a big shot in the investment circle at such a young age.
Even though he had graduated many years ago, the instructors who had taken care of Yan Kaize still liked to mention his name. On important school holidays, the school would invite him back to partic.i.p.ate and give free lectures to his juniors.
Yan Kaize had a place in the school where photos of outstanding graduates were displayed.
w.a.n.g Chen had always treated Yan Kaize as his goal.
In his imagination, the president would sit on the top floor of a skysc.r.a.per or in a high-end cafe. He would point at the computer and the circle would tremble.
w.a.n.g Chen would never have dreamed that he would see a big shot who did not fit in at the milk tea shop by the roadside. The other students were wearing casual pants and sneakers, chatting and laughing youthfully.
The big shot sat alone in a crowded chair. His formal suit had wrinkles squeezed out as he stared at the computer with a serious expression. If not for the calm aura around him, he would easily be treated as a bitter worker.
Moreover, in w.a.n.g Chen’s imagination, the president would always have a cup of bitter black coffee in front of him. This was the temperament of a successful person.
However, he just happened to see Yan Kaize holding a cup of strawberry milk tea. His habit was still pink!
w.a.n.g Chen was not the only one who noticed Yan Kaize. Ai Zhaojiang and Professor Jing, who visited everyday, were also there. The two of them were regular customers in the shop. Even the students buying milk tea were not surprised.
Everyone tacitly agreed that the corners were reserved for the two professors. Even if the two seats were empty, no one would sit there.
Professor Jing held his hot tea and looked at Yan Kaize a few more times. “Is that Yan Kaize? Didn’t you say that he went overseas for a meeting?”
“I don’t know. He’s been here for the past two days. He probably came to school for something.” Ai Zhaojiang was not concerned at all.
Seeing his situation, Professor Jing thought to himself, You’re almost treating this as an information station for Ai Tingya when you’re soaking in the milk tea shop every day. You should be more interested in other things.
“I’ve never heard of anything happening in school recently,” Professor Jing said. Suddenly, he had an idea. “Maybe Yan Kaize is interested in the development prospects of the milk tea shop. Your grandson-in-law is going to soar.”
“Who’s my grandson-in-law? I haven’t admitted it yet!” Ai Zhaojiang was stubborn.
Want him to admit that Luo Feng was outstanding in public? Unless the h.e.l.l freezes over!
Professor Jing saw through it but did not expose him. “Your granddaughter has already declared her sovereignty. Don’t you know that half of the boys in the school are wailing?”
“I don’t agree!” Ai Zhaojiang glared at Professor Jing.
“Heh, Old Ai, don’t be dissatisfied. I think very highly of Luo Feng. Look at this kid. He made the shop popular with just a few photos. Can you do it?”
“Tsk… It’s all because my granddaughter is good-looking. Otherwise, where would he find such a good-looking model?”
Ai Zhaojiang just didn’t want to admit it!
If he admitted it, his granddaughter would be completely abducted!
