Chapter 8
My Cheat, Magical Capsule!
Ai Tingya blushed and nodded. This was the first time she had been treated so warmly by an elder. She had a good impression of Mother Luo. “Thank you, Auntie.”
She obediently stood at the staircase and waited for Luo Feng to ride his bicycle. Suddenly, she heard a sound coming from the house.
“Mom, I’ll send Ai Tingya back first.”
The ten-minute meal lasted for an hour because of Mother Luo’s enthusiasm. Time flew and it was already eight o’clock.
The orphanage had a curfew for the sake of the children’s safety. Ai Tingya had to be back before nine o’clock so Mother Luo couldn’t keep her even if she wanted to.
“Be careful on the road. Tingya, remember to come often!” Mother Luo was a little reluctant.
“I thought you didn’t like that child, seeing the way you acted when you opened the door.” Father Luo said calmly.
Mother Luo retorted loudly. “That’s because I had a misunderstanding when they first arrived. Besides, I was just scaring my son. I didn’t expect to scare Tingya. Fortunately, she’s not angry. Otherwise, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life!”
Regret it for the rest of her life?
This adjective was too exaggerated for Ai Tingya.
The Director of the orphanage was a good person but there were so many children after all. He could not take care of them personally so Ai Tingya had always been very sensible. She would try her best not to cause any trouble.
She was always alone when other people her age were enjoying the love of their parents. Now, there was actually someone who cared about whether or not she would be angry.
Ai Tingya’s heart was warm, as if she was bathing in the sun.
Then she heard Father Luo continue. “You were too enthusiastic just now. What if Xiao Ai doesn’t come next time?”
“I can’t control myself. I really like this child!” Mother Luo roared. “Xiao Feng is the same. He only asked me to prepare delicious food, but he didn’t say that he was bringing his cla.s.smate home. He made me misunderstand that they are having puppy love.”
“But it’s okay if it’s Tingya.”
Mother Luo’s last sentence fell into Ai Tingya’s ears, making her ears burn. She left the door anxiously.
At this time, Luo Feng was waiting at the entrance of the corridor on his bicycle. He heard what Mother Luo shouted and pursed his lips to hold back his laughter.
A sumptuous dinner every Friday was family tradition. It was as immovable as mid-autumn mooncakes. That was what he had requested when he was a child. He felt that Friday was a holiday and should be celebrated with a big meal.
His lunch and dinner were either in the cafeteria or by the roadside ever since he went to high school. Mother Luo was worried that Luo Feng didn’t have enough nutrition, so she prepared Friday’s dinner even more diligently.
She actually used it as a reason to bait Ai Tingya today.
He would know whether or not she had feelings for him once his mother made her move!
Ai Tingya’s heart was racing as she secretly looked up at Luo Feng.
This person used to laugh at her for being a bookworm. He was entangled with Xing Miaomiao in school. Why would he suddenly prepare dinner for her? Could it be that he also…
The more Ai Tingya thought about it, the more shy she became. She lowered her head and sat on the back of the bicycle, taking the initiative to hug Luo Feng’s waist.
“Sit tight!” Luo Feng shouted, stepping on the pedals and sprinting out.
Ai Tingya was not as squeamish as before with the physical contact. The effect was very obvious!
All of a sudden, Luo Feng felt his waist bag becoming heavier, as if a box had been stuffed into it. Ai Tingya didn’t move at all, as obedient as a canary. The thing in his bag didn’t seem to have anything to do with her.
Luo Feng didn’t mind it and asked Ai Tingya. “Will there be any problems with tomorrow’s tuition?”
“I have no choice but to help after eating your food.” Ai Tingya said casually. “My tuition is very strict. You’d better revise when you go back tonight.”
“Of course, there’s no problem. Teacher, I hope you won’t be frightened by my potential.”
Luo Feng was full of confidence. He was someone who went through the college entrance exam once, so he should be able to remember once he read through it when he’s at home.
The two of them chatted and laughed, getting along a lot more naturally. However, Ai Tingya didn’t want Luo Feng to be seen by her other friends in the orphanage, so she asked him to stop a street away and didn’t want him to pick her up.
Ai Tingya ran away after agreeing on a time to meet the next day.
Luo Feng slowly walked back. Halfway through, he remembered the thing in his bag so he stopped at the curb and took out the box from it.
Speedy Memory Potion!
These words were printed on the palm-sized medicine box.
Luo Feng opened the medicine box and poured out its contents impatiently. A small red capsule fell into his palm.
He had spent 20 yuan on Ai Tingya previously, so he had an extra 200 yuan in his idle card. A magical capsule popped out of his bag just when he got closer to Ai Tingya!
This is my cheat!
Luo Feng didn’t suspect anything and immediately swallowed the capsule.
In an instant, waves seemed to be rolling in his mind. The knowledge he had once learned quickly surged out, and the forgotten key points were marked again. His rapidly working mind urgently needed a place to vent its energy.
Luo Feng quickly returned home on his bicycle and rushed back to his bedroom under his parents’ puzzled gazes.
He took out a dusty paper from the bottom of the bookcase and started writing furiously!
Mother Luo looked at Luo Feng’s hardworking back as she sniffled and said emotionally: “This is the first time I’ve seen him take the initiative to learn after so many years. Birds of a feather flock together. I have to thank Tingya.”
“That’s right.” Father Luo was relieved too.
The couple’s performance wasn’t in vain. Luo Feng’s transformation was instantaneous.
They happily closed the door, not daring to disturb Luo Feng.
Luo Feng’s brain heated up, his hands couldn’t stop working. His brain was like a speed machine with the questions on the paper becoming incomparably simple. The root number and equations were all downgraded to questions as easy as 1+1.
The completed papers fluttered around the room. He was like a heartless homework robot. He would feel uncomfortable if he did not finish the entire paper.
Luo Feng wrote through the night before his excited brain slowly stopped. Unknowingly, he fell asleep on his desk.
“Little Feng! Little Feng, wake up! Look who’s here!”
Mother Luo’s voice was so excited that it went off-key. Luo Feng rubbed his eyes in a daze and looked at the clock on the table.
“It’s eight thirty already?”
Luo Feng suddenly sat up straight. It was almost time for his appointment with Ai Tingya!
He stood up and rolled the messy papers on the table into a ball but saw Ai Tingya standing at the door of the room, looking at him in shock.
Ai Tingya saw the red marks on Luo Feng’s face and then looked at the exam papers that were spread all over the floor. Papers with answers fluttered all over the table and bed. She didn’t expect Luo Feng to be so obedient and even revised for the entire night!
Ai Tingya’s impression of Luo Feng instantly changed.
Mother Luo was even happier. Luo Feng’s ability to study without regard for his own life made her feel that it was all thanks to Ai Tingya.
“You don’t have to work so hard even though Tingya is coming. Hurry up and sit down. Auntie will wash some fruits for you.” Mother Luo smiled until her eyes couldn’t be seen and closed the door.
Ai Tingya picked up the test paper by her feet and looked at it. Her beautiful eyebrows could not help but frown.
