Chapter 1199: Pregnancy
A maid brought over a bowl of Chinese medicine that had been brewed for several hours. “Elder Miss, please have this bowl of medicine.”
Tang Mo’er had been taking Chinese medicine for quite some time now. She had no idea what was the contents, but it was from Lu Yeming. Ever since she started taking it, there had been some noticeable results, she hadn’t aged as quickly.
Though Lu Yeming hadn’t mentioned anything about the medicine before, she knew that it must be rare and rather costly.
She brought the bowl to her lips, wanting to drink it.
But when she smelled the herbal scent of it, her gastric acid refluxed and she knitted her brows in discomfort.
“What’s the matter?”
A magnetic voice rang in her ears. Tang Mo’er lifted her eyes and they met with Lu Yeming’s deep-set ones. He looked at her with concern.
“Yeming, can I skip tonight’s medicine?”
Lu Yeming shook his head, not giving any leeway. “No.”
“…”
Tang Mo’er lowered her head, holding the bowl as she held her breath, drinking a bit of it.
She wanted to quickly swallow it but when the medicine reached her throat, she threw the bowl away and rushed into the kitchen.
Standing in front of the basin, she started vomiting.
Her stomach churned vigorously and once she started throwing up, she couldn’t stop herself. Since she hadn’t had anything to eat the entire day, she only vomited out some gastric acid.
But she really felt like puking once she smelled the herbal scent of the Chinese medicine.
“Sister Mo’er!” Jun Xiqing quickly got up.
But someone moved faster than her. Lu Yeming got up, sprinting into the kitchen.
Like a gust of wind pa.s.sing Jun Xiqing, Lu Yeming moved with the speed of lightning and his slender legs moved quickly, arriving beside Tang Mo’er in mere seconds.
He lifted his hand, patting Tang Mo’er’s back lightly. “Are you alright?”
Tang Mo’er lowered her head. She was reminded of something, her period seemed to be late. Her period always came on time and she had given birth to Niuniu, she had some experience regarding such matters.
The other time, she… did it with Gu Mohan…
He hadn’t used any protection at all, she also forgot to take the morning-after pill.
Could it be possible…
Tang Mo’er didn’t dare think about it at all.
Lu Yeming studied her expression. Her face was completely ashen, all color drained away and she was distraught.
With his slender fingers, he tucked her hair behind her ears before holding her shoulders, turning her around to face him. “Sister, what happened? Just tell me.”
He sounded calm as he tried to guide her to tell him what was wrong.
Jun Xiqing walked over to the kitchen, standing in a corner as she asked hesitantly. “Sister Mo’er, are you… pregnant?”
Lu Yeming’s body stiffened.
…
In the bathroom.
Tang Mo’er locked herself inside as she held a pregnancy test kit in her hand. Those five minutes felt like the longest five minutes in her life.
Her eyes were fixed on the pregnancy test kit, she didn’t dare look away at all.
Soon, a red line appeared on the pregnancy test kit. Then… two red lines.
She was pregnant.
She really was pregnant.
The pregnancy test kit in her hand fell on the ground. Her eyes slowly turned red and tears welled up inside.
She had been yearning for a pregnancy.
All this time, Mr Gu really wanted a daughter. They had been trying so hard but to no avail, but this time, it happened with just one try.
What should she do?
What exactly should she do now?
Tang Mo’er placed her hand on her flat tummy, there was a life growing inside her now.
She was sure it was a daughter growing inside of her. It was an instinct as a mother, she would never be wrong about it.
But she really wasn’t suitable for pregnancy with her current health. She had no idea whether she could bring this baby to this world safely.
She really wanted a daughter.
She really wanted to give birth to a daughter for Mr Gu. Tang Mo’er’s body started gliding down the wall and she sat on the ground.
As Jun Xiqing looked at the closed bathroom door, her gaze then riveted on the man standing outside.
Lu Yeming stood there, with both hands in his pockets as he just leaned against the wall with his usual dignified countenance. He lowered his eyes, his lashes low and no one could tell what was on his mind.
He had been waiting outside for how long Tang Mo’er had locked herself inside.
Soon, he moved, taking one hand out of his pocket and he knocked on the door. “Sister.”
His voice was gentle.
But there was no reply.
He continued knocking on the door. Knock, knock, knock. “Sister, open the door.”
There wasn’t any sound at all.
Drawing his brows together, he warned, “Sister, I’m going to kick the door open if you’re not going to open it. I’m not kidding.”
There still wasn’t any reply.
“Sister, move away from the door.”
Jun Xiqing watched from behind. Right after he gave a warning, he lifted a leg, giving the door a forceful kick.
Bam! It made a thunderous sound and the door smashed open. Behind him, Jun Xiqing was a little stunned. This man hid away his domineering side under his dignified, elegant countenance.
But he would rein himself back whenever he was with Tang Mo’er.
The bathroom door was kicked open and Lu Yeming walked inside.
His expression was still as cold, the next moment he saw Tang Mo’er huddling in a corner, hugging her knees as she buried her face in them. Lu Yeming looked at her, the icy coldness on his face instantly dissipating and he appeared ever so gentle.
Walking in front, he knelt on one knee in front of her, lifting his hand as he placed his hand on her head.
Lighting ruffling her hair, his hand moved downwards, holding the back of her head as he let her lean on his chest.
“Everything’s fine, don’t be afraid,” he comforted her.
Tears started trickling down her cheeks and Tang Mo’er started sobbing. “But… I’m afraid, I’m really… afraid…”
Lu Yeming lifted the corners of his lips. “To give birth to the baby or not, it’s all up to you. Just follow your heart and decide on whatever makes you happy. My job is to help settle everything for you. You just have to make a decision. Leave everything else to me.”
Jun Xiqing stood there, listening to his words. It tugged at her heartstrings hearing him say those words to Tang Mo’er.
What was love?
She had witnessed it since young. The most memorable one was Uncle Jun’s love for Madam Xuanji, but she was probably witnessing the greatest form of love right now.
It wasn’t a romantic kind of love, but she was certain it was love.
Tang Mo’er started tearing up even more, she slowly lifted her head, her l.u.s.trous eyes watery, just like an injured deer. “Yeming, thank you. But… I can’t make a decision. I want… want to give… Mr Gu a call. I want… to tell him that I’m pregnant, I really… miss him…”
