Transferring Host: Farming Village]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the reincarnation points were fully spent, the interface began to fade. The death was not unexpected, however he could not fathom that he would be reborn into a system which removed the desire to survive completely.

He had expected the destination to be a primitive world and he was right. The upgraded strength would come in handy as most of the available jobs would be manual labor.

One thing he could never stand was the feeling when he woke up and felt that he had been grinding his teeth in his sleep. It was incredibly irritating. Usually, brushing his teeth helped and he had hoped that Automatic Dental Hygiene would have the same effect.

He felt fortunate that he was transferred to a farming village after buying a farming ability. Did the system recalibrate according to his abilities?

Sadly though, the world did not seem to have magic. Maybe dying would to get a better world would work. However, it was clear that wantonly dying would lead to a demented mindset so he rejected the notion.

The thatched roof disappointed him greatly. It was far too primitive and the rough clothing did not improve his mood. The shed reeked and the floor was literally dirt.

Peeved, he demanded the network tell him where he was. An interface flickered into existence to his surprise. Usually, systems in these type of stories would just ignore the host and order them to do some obnoxious task.

You are Wei, an orphan who manages everyday life in a lackl.u.s.ter manner. Your fellow villagers are indifferent to you. To make the most out of this life, the network recommends commerce

[F-Rank Quest:

Objective: Procure a farm

Reward: Soybeans and 20 points]

A very mundane task. What was worse was that he could not use the s.p.a.ce around him to start a farm so he would have to buy one. Wei just had to buy a c.r.a.ppy shed in a neighborhood of c.r.a.ppy sheds.

Venturing into the marketplace, one could tell it was bustling but it was also very generic. Vegetable stands, accessory stands, and people littered the streets while the quality products were located inside the "high-end" stores.

Wei had managed to purchase a decrepit land deed which already had a farm setup. It cost nearly nothing but that was because the soil was terrible and vines devoured most of the property. The manager had scoffed and a.s.sumed that Wei had been successfully swindled.

"Oi Wei, we didn"t know that you still had enough to buy land. Why don"t you share some with us, your pals?"

The group of crooks made their way towards Wei. They had intended to a.s.sert dominance and everybody knew they were akin to robbers. They did not expect that Wei would ignore them and leave the shop though.

Chasing after Wei, they began hollering and the leader prepared to swing his fist. Before he could strike though, Wei turned around and uppercut his Adam"s apple. The leader immediately knelt down and clutched his throat while displaying excruciating pain.

[Skill Intimidation Activated]

"Leave before I turn you all into fertilizer. This s.h.i.tty farm could use it"

The group ran away while dragging their boss to everyone"s surprise.

"Good work, Wei"

"They got what they deserved"

"We don"t need their protection!"

The crowd began censuring the crooks but it was due to the fact that the group was similar to a gang which abused their territory while claiming that they were protecting it.

"There you are, Wei"

A female with fair skin and barely above average appearance parted the crowd. Wei was previously infatuated with her and had often explicitly showed affection. Likely fearing implications, she publicly greeted Wei.

Feigning a pout which brought forth feelings of adoration among the crowd, she said, "You shouldn"t cause so much trouble, Wei. They might return and cause more trouble"

Unlike the original Wei, he was unfazed by her facade and presence.

"Got it"

To her bewilderment, Wei left without hesitation.

If life was part of a game then being attached to a transient piece would be incredibly redundant. What was the point of romance when there was so much more in life? He began to shake as he antic.i.p.ated flying on dragons and battling mages. With so much potential excitement, he had completely disregarded the possibility of romance. Humans just weren"t that interesting to him. That was why he read and gamed. The company was just something he founded to support his boredom.

4 months had pa.s.sed and everyone could tell that winter was close as the temperature began to decline. Over these 4 months, Wei single-handedly changed the village and became the most prominent member.

He sold the c.r.a.ppy shed and moved into the decrepit farm. He left the vines and weeds surrounding the property as they were great deterrents for unwanted visitors and wild animals. Tilling the soil was relatively easy with Strength C+ and Vitality B. With the Material Auxiliary Ability, the soil became extremely fertile despite not being arable for decades.

Through various experiments with various plants and even trees, he had concluded that the soil accelerated the rate of growth by an insane amount. He even got a tree to bear fruit in 2 months. If other people discovered this soil, they would call it a miracle and maybe even a national treasure.

Ever since the first visit, the villagers called him Master Wei, a man who conquered nature and brought forth the tidings of the earth, The fact that he could live in a place teeming with thorns and vines convinced them of this.

The network would randomly give F-Rank quests and a few D-Rank quests. They were relatively easy to accomplish so he replenished his points.

However some of them involved the collection of money so he couldn"t help but ask.

"Network, does money count towards the reincarnation score?"

Yes, however the default is to allow your descendants to receive it

He was a millionaire in his past life and had no children. The family he was born to had also been negligent so he had cut contact.

"My "family" doesn"t deserve it, recalculate it"

To combat the smell of the outhouse, he used fragrant incense and with his new ability, he was able to thoroughly sanitize his estate. The bed wasn"t comfortable but it was tolerable and he would prefer sleeping on the wooden chairs he made.

Through trading his abundant produce and sometimes his peculiar wooden furniture, he earned enough money to compete with the major households in the village. Some of the households began to sending suitors, even the one he previously fancied. Of course, he rejected them due to detesting white lotuses and disregard for romance.

[C-Rank Quest:

Objective: Obtain the Artifact from the Caravan

Reward: *Unknown* and 500 points]

The town at this point could be called a town due to the growing size. Due to his contributions, Wei was unanimously and unofficially nominated as the chief. Unlike the previous year, this winter it was likely that no one would starve to death and they might not even need to ration food.

Wei"s produce took longer to expire, tasted better, and were sold at a low price. He didn"t crave money and he had far too much vegetables. The caravan came to the town hearing of the bountiful food and their master botanist.

At the same time, the caravan arrived, Wei"s figure could be seen.

"Greetings townsfolk, I would like to meet with your master botanist", the caravan leader asked while his people were checking and unloading the merchandise.

Wei greeted the caravan leader and led him to his house. It was still covered by vines but Wei had created a path through which people could enter.

As expected of the master botanist, the merchant thought. He could even make vines into art.

To prevent questioning about his efficient irrigation, he constructed a false well. He had considered a lake but that would be too peculiar as the farm was dirt cheap.

Arriving at Wei"s house, the merchant commented that it was different from the other houses. Wei had constructed a cabin while the other houses were still oriental with some having thatched roofs.

Wei had prepared a meal to express his hospitality.

"The master botanist can also cook?"

"Of course, I live alone after all"

Taking a bite of the risotto, the merchant beamed.

"This is even better than the restaurants in the capital," he stated as he wolfed down the meal.

After the meal, the two finally began to discuss trade.

"What brings a wealthy caravan to this backwater village?"

"Surely you jest, this village is in an even better condition than most towns. At this time, most people would be gathering as much food as possible but in this town, everybody is relaxing"

"Is the capital still preparing for winter?"

"Yes, that"s why trade is slowing down and food prices are rising"

"Then I a.s.sume the reason you came must be more than trade?"

"Yes, I would like you to revive this plant"

The merchant brought out a withering blossom tree that was still in its infancy. It was near death but definitely salvageable with his ability.

"My sponsor cherishes this tree more than his children and we will be willing to pay any price"

"I need neither money nor food. However, I heard you brought an artifact"

"The artifact has yet to be appraised and-"

The merchant stopped when he saw the blossom regain color while Wei was considering how he could get the artifact.

"As expected of the master botanist, even plants refuse to die in your presence!"

Wei was about to refute his claim but he then saw the blossom bloom.

He had subconsciously refined the soil and the effect had been drastic.

The wilted tree had blooming blossoms and even grew a centimeters in a matter of 10 minutes.

"If it"s you then the artifact should be fine"

The merchant retrieved the heart-shaped relic and was about to give it to Wei when the relic began glowing.

The object emitted a powerful radiance which blinded both people. It then flew towards Wei"s heart and he spewed blood.
