Charles stood up and walked over to Akila. He sat down on the opposite side of her scythe. He looked at Akila and she looked away from him. He seemed to have a pa.s.sionate look on his face. Akila continued to look away from him. She felt his hand grab hers and she pulled away. His hand retreated back to his lap. She grabbed her scythe and put the tip of it into the water. She swung it back and forth creating small patterns in the water. Akila stuck the blade deeper and swung up. A large amount of water flew up and hit Charles in the face. He fell back from the force and laughed. Akila smirked and lifted her scythe back up."I guess that means you"re not angry anymore," said Charles still laughing.
"No. I"m still angry. I just wanted revenge."
Charles looked at Akila, smirking and chuckled. She turned around and stood up. She looked at him and walked over. He was still laying on the ground. Akila stomped her foot on his chest and heard him gasp in pain. He bolted upright and held his chest. She could see the print her boot made. Akila held out her hand and he took it. She helped him up and onto the tree.
"Sorry, I"m just really mad at you." Akila said sitting down next to him.
"It"s okay. I realized that I did a really c.r.a.ppy thing back there," He said as he adjusted himself.
Akila looked to the creek and saw a small school of fish swimming near the edge. She stabbed her scythe back into the water and brought it back up with a couple of fish. She set them down on the log and stood up. Akila walked around, picking up all the sticks and rocks she could find. She laid the rocks down in a circle and piled the sticks inside. She flicked her hand and a small ball of fire appeared. Akila moved her hand and started the fire. She took two sticks off a nearby tree and stuck a fish on each. Akila held one out to Charles and he took it. She sat down near the fire and stuck the fish over it. Charles sat on the opposite side and did the same. After about ten minutes the fish were fully cooked. They sat and ate around the fire.
It was getting dark and they had gone back to the clearing. Charles and collected some leaves and built two little cots for them to sleep on. He was careful and put his far from Akila"s. Akila laid down, staring at the stars. She could hear Charles lay down too and turn to his side. The stars seemed to gleam against the dark sky. She laid there for what seemed hours till her eyes grew heavy and she fell asleep.
Akila woke up to the forest on fire around her. She sat up quickly and looked around for Charles. He wasn"t on his cot. He wasn"t anywhere in the clearing. She stood up and called his name. Akila looked up and saw Charles floating there, his head to the sky. She looked at him in confusion and pushed herself off the ground. She flew up in front of Charles to see him oblivious to the chaos beneath. His eyes were white and glossy. Akila grabbed his shoulders and shook him. He snapped out of his trance and looked at her, "Wha..." Charles pa.s.sed out and fell from Akila"s grasp. She swooped down and grabbed his hand before he hit the ground. She struggled to fly with his weight but started flying away from the fire. She couldn"t deal with that yet, she had to move Charles. She dropped him on a branch nearby, but away from the fire. She flew to the creek in a rush and used her magic to conjure a large amount of water from the creek on top of the fire. Akila let it fall and the fire went out immediately. She sighed and went back to Charles. He was still unconscious. She sat down on another branch, tired from the amount of magic she used. Akila put her back to the tree and stared at Charles.
The sun started to rise hours later. Charles started to move. Akila sat back up and looked at him. He sat up and looked around in confusion, "Where are we?!"
