"That"s not the question right now! What happened back there!" Akila yelled.

Charles looked at her in confusion. "What do you mean?" He said.

"When the fire was raging, you were just floating in the air, your head to the moon and your eyes glossed over and white."

"....not again."

"It"s happened before?!"

Charles looked to his left and saw the remains of the clearing. "Charles what do you mean not again?!" Akila yelled.

He sighed, "When I first came here I was approached by bandits. They had torches and were waving them in my face. Fire must be some kind of trigger because that was the first time that it happened. I watched their faces turned to horror as I could feel myself lift off the ground. Everything around me turned black and the next thing I knew I was surrounded by their b.l.o.o.d.y, mangled bodies. Their limbs were twisted and their clothes were torn. I couldn"t believe my eyes. I ran off. Ever since then I"ve tried to control it. I don"t even know what it is! I guess I need to keep working on it. The fire last night must"ve triggered it. I"m just glad I didn"t hurt you."

"I guess maybe I should"ve put that fire out," Akila said sheepishly.

"YOU DIDN"T PUT OUT THE FIRE!" Charles yelled at her.

Akila looked down and chuckled. He looked at her annoyed but relieved. "Let"s get down from here," She said.

Charles and Akila had made it down the tree and were on their way back to the village. They pa.s.sed the decaying bodies of the guards and their bloodstains on the gra.s.s. They walked a little farther and came upon the village, but every building was burned to the ground. A pile of bodies sat in the middle with the banner of Miniro on top. Every single man, woman, and child was dead. Akila gasped at the sight of it. "Other guards must"ve come looking for the others and burned down the village in revenge," Akila said. She felt tears well in her eyes. She dropped to her knees and cried in her hands. Charles placed his hand on her back and dropped down next to Akila. She buried her head in his chest and sobbed. He brushed his hand lightly through her hair.

"Why did I come here? This is all my fault. If I didn"t show up here, none of this would"ve happened..." Akila said, still sobbing.

"This isn"t your fault Akila, none of this is," Charles said to her.

"We should bury their bodies," She said looking up.

"I"ll do it. You go and rest. You need it after last night."

Akila stood back up, still crying, and found a tree to sit by. She watched as Charles found a surviving shovel and started to dig a big enough hole to bury each body. He laid them down one by one. By the afternoon Charles had covered the grave and had sat down on the other side of the tree. He sighed and wiped the sweat from his brow.
