On second thought after placing the call for an ambulance, Yang Lin also called for the police, saying that there were scary people outside his home and gave the address of the Zhang villa to the male officer on the other line. After giving a false report, Yang Lin hung up.Although he kept following them, he didn"t ask to be driven into the one way road that led to the heiress home, as he was about to send the cab driver off, who appeared to be in his forties, that was when he heard a loud crash, without a shadow of doubt, Yang Lin felt deep within, that something was terribly wrong. Not relying only on his sense of hearing, he got out and took a few steps towards the Zhang villa, what he saw scared him out of his mind.
"Please! Let ZiZi be okay..."
Frantically checking for the fire department"s number to call, letting a male dispatcher know that there was a fire at Zhang villa, he said this to force them to act quickly. That was also another lie he had to tell.
The cab was a light weight type that couldn"t withstand much pressure be it strong wind, it was one of those new models that had begun hitting the market, due to the lure of advancement in technology, as other known car brands worked on keeping up to speed with the current trend in the market, not really able to match up to the newer breed of cars that was not from household names.
The driver"s side was squeezed beyond recognition, he saw that the tires kept on spinning. Sadly, Yang Lin missed the exact moment when the accident took place, but walked in around the time the truck was about to go for a second hit at the wrecked car, that was when a couple of painted cabs and vans belonging to news stations zoomed past Yang Lin, it seemed as though the driver of the unknown truck was ready for any unexpected turn of event, by driving right by them, with no one following behind him. From the looks of things, the truck"s plate was probably a fake, trying to get the number would probably be a waste of time. Thinking fast on his feet, with limited options available to him.
What he did instead, was to take out one of the hidden gadgets from the side pocket of his coat and activated it, as he aimed the minuscule device straight at the tail end of the moving truck.
Silently, he sent a prayer for the ambulance to make it to Zhang Mi, not too long after he heard loud sirens as a white and red ambulance sped by to the mayhem ahead.
He saw as two young male paramedics roughly in their thirties, in navy blue jumpsuit, struggled to get in, but the reporters made it difficult to go through. Yang Lin watched helplessly as help was being delayed, not that they could do much, because the people from the fire department had to use various tools to take out the window and doors, in order for the paramedics to get the victims out safely.
Five minutes after the ambulance arrived two police cars and a red fire truck arrived almost at the same time, at the scene as a total of eight officers stepped out and five men in orange jumpsuits of varying ages got out, diving straight to the scene to lend the paramedics an hand. When the press saw the police had arrived, slowly they began backing off.
The baton by the side of a female officer and three other male officer made it clear to the press which was comprised almost of equal ratio of men and women, that the police would not hesitate to hit them with the solid dark wood of cylindrical shape.
The firemen got through the wreck to pry open the door that was within sight, stepping aside to let the medic pull out Lu Yi first, before Zhang Mi into separate stretchers, before commencing a.s.sessment and giving basic care, both were supplied oxygen and wheeled to the back of the ambulance. They both had cuts and bruises sustained during the accident, since they were held from being jerked from their seat, this reduced the severity of the injuries they could have gotten.
Lu Yi absorbed most of the impact, his body s.h.i.+elded Zhang Mi when their car was rammed into by another.
By this time Yang Lin had gone back to where the cab driver supposedly was, surprisingly the man was still waiting for him.
The winds.h.i.+eld of the car was taken off by the men from the fire department, the driver was in a pretty bad shape, his head had been struck hard against the steering and the airbag had deflected forming an envelope around him. His body twisted in an awkward way. On checking his pulse, and feeling none, the medics worked together along with the fire department to get the man from the car, carefully placing his heavily lacerated body covered in blood and shards of gla.s.s. Onto the stretcher, after performing life sustaining measures and after going at it for some time with no response, they covered the body on the stretcher in a white sheet, transporting it, along with the unconscious body of Lu Yi and Zhang Mi.
"I need you to follow the ambulance to where it is going!"
Without being told a second time, the driver did as ordered. Meanwhile, the firemen had to deal with the aftermath of the wreckage, the police on the other hand had to work on dismissing the press who kept on shooting what had taken place, those that came in with an alternate transport, saw that the cabs had driven off during the time the police arrived, they stayed back to wrap up the interview, while the others that came in their station"s vans left almost immediately after the ambulance drove off.
The car remained where it was, for the police to conduct their investigation.
