CHAPTER XII

The First Order

A Guardian will receive his ornamental jewel the moment he acquires his power. This is the indication that a Sceillian is born to be a Guardian.

A master is someone holding the full authority over his Guardian. A Guardian must submit to his master and will serve him with his life for the guardian’s life himself will be in his master’s hand.

A Guardian whether he like it or not will going to protect his master’s life, as well as his orders for the fulfillment of the call of his blood and body.

When the Master dies, the guardian will eventually loose himself…

“What are you reading?”

It’s Clover. She has a very brilliant smile that I envy for a very long time. I hope I can smile like that…

Last day my problem was the Headmaster, now its Claude. When will people like them leave me alone?

I want to tell Daniel everything, all the that happened but I know he’ll get worried. There are so many things he is facing because of me.

“Cenedy? Your s.p.a.cing out again.” She took the book from my hands. We are in the library now and it looks like Clover’s been looking for me for a while.

“Uh…nothing, I’m just thinking something.” I lied. I know she’s used to it.

“Why are you reading this? It’s the Master’s guidebook.” She opens the pages of the book.

“Preceptor Louie gave me an essay a.s.signment about the relationships between a master and his guardian.”

Yeah, how odd. I met Preceptor Louie earlier and he made me to do it. The strange thing is, he is not looking at me while we were talking. It’s not Preceptor Louie at all.

“Do you want me to help you?” She offered.

“Don’t you have anything to do? I mean in the student council?” From what I know, Clover is very busy that’s why I only saw her during morning and cla.s.s. Who I often saw is her Guardian.

“I’m free for this day. I’m looking for you because it’s been a while since we bond.” She pouted. We are not that close. Clover doesn’t ask things about my personal why that’s why I’m so easy whenever I’m with her.

“Uh…okay.” She sits in front of me.

“I’ll give you the details how Jino and I met, the book will state you every theory and I’ll give you a real-life situation.”

Clover seems giddy and blushing, it’s so obvious that she likes Jino.

“So now tell me how you met?” I’ve been curious too. But I was just too shy to ask because I’m also not talking about my life.

Clover’s eyes sparkled as if she’s going to tell a fairytale.

“Well, ah hehe.” She giggled. Tsk does she know how to play hard to get? How will she do if Jino is in front of her?

“Tell me, do you like Jino?” I asked her directly. She suddenly paused and her eyes widen.

“Huh? Who told you? I’m not. We don’t even hit it off because he is so quiet. Not talking, and he only utters a word if I asked him or ordered him. Sometimes he only says a word. Who wants to be with that kind of person? So moody, don’t even heed me sometimes. And he is not my type.”

Her whole face redden. I want to laugh but I forced myself not to.

“I only asked you one question, you answered a million.” I feel like my face also redden because I was trying not to laugh.

“Eh, I really don’t.” She reddens even more. Clover’s reaction is really funny.

“Okay, whatever you say. NOw tell me your lovesto… I mean you and Jino’s story.” Now I have something to blackmail to Clover. So it’s Jino, huh.

“Actually, Jino and I were childhood friends. We’re inseparable, the two of us were bestfriend. He took me to all his walk. He used to be so talkative, she told me any stories… I even called him captain because of our mini adventures, hmp. All was okay.” She smiled brightly. And I know her story wasn’t finished because everything she said is opposite to what Jino is now.

“Until my 12th birthday. He received his ornamental necklace. It was the object that connects us…”

She showed me her necklace. It’s color blue and shaped like a teardrop. It’s made of gla.s.s and it’s very beautiful.

“All Guardian will receive an ornamental jewel to know who is their master. The color will change at the time the master touches it.”

She suddenly paused and looked up at the library’s ceiling.

“One day, he happily showed me the necklace. I still can’t forget his face while taking from his neck the two ornamental necklaces…” She smiled bitterly before she continued.

“I was shocked when the white color before slowly turned into blue when I touched it, and after that, he began to change.”

I can’t believe it. Why would Jino change that fast? He must have a deep reason why he did that.

“I feel like he doesn’t want me to be his master, What is wrong with me? I feel like he’s just forcing himself to be my Guardian.”

Clover’s eyes started to get wet. I’m so selfish. I don’t know that she had this kind of experience because she always smile and she’s so talkative.

“He must have a reason, Clover.” I simply told her. Based on her story, they were closed so it wouldn’t that easy to for her bestfriend to change.

“He better be! Haha, but I’m used to it.” She masked her pain. I know that until now she’s still in pain to what happened to her and Jino. But I couldn’t do anything.

“I still have to do something Ceny. Let’s talk next time. I hope I help you somehow in your essay.” She hurriedly walked away. The last I heard is her weak sob.

The relationship between master and guardian is so mysterious. Should I ask Aiden? Never mind, he might be busy.

I walk out of the library bringing the book that I was reading. Clover and Jino’s situation is still in my mind. Why is it?

*Booohshhh*

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean it. I wasn’t looking in my way.” Because my mind was preoccupied I b.u.mp into someone.

When I raised my head, I was caught off guard. It’s Claude.

“Are you thinking about accepting me as your guardian?” He asks me with piercing eyes.

I immediately looked around, someone might hear it. I pulled him until we reached a vacant room.

“Lower your voice, someone might hear you.” I rebuke him.

“Look, what is your problem? You should be thankful because I am your guardian. Even Pyro like you.” He said in a calm tone.

If for him it’s a simple thing but for it’s not. My secret that I’ve been hiding carefully might be exposed. No one must know.

“I don’t care. And who is Pyro?” I asked though I have a hint who it is.

“He’s my fire. If you don’t care about this thing and it’s nothing to you but for me, it’s not!” He said angrily. Here we go again, we might fight again.

“Claude, please! Aren’t you wondering why a person like me is your master? There must be a mistake here.” It’s true, why does it seem easy for him to accept it?

“Your thinking selfishly Aceil. Don’t you know how many years I waited for my master? It’s in our blood Aceil. As a Guardian, we longed to protect our master. Others are lucky because they found their Masters on the day they received their powers.”  He said firmly.

“B.b..but…” I was about to speak when he continued speaking.

“Did you know that I’m the only Guardian in our family? At first, I’m mad why I’m not a master. But when I saw my ornamental bracelet, everything change. I’m more than eager to serve my master.”

I was dumbfounded. It’s true that I’m so selfish. I didn’t even think what he feels. If it’s like that Jino also feels the same. But why did Jino change?

I was about to leave when he stopped me again.

“Where are you going? Aren’t you going to say something?” He asked to me.

“Find everything about Jino. I want to know him.”

I told him while leaving the room. The last thing I saw was a smile on his face.

I was to go out of the library and go to Gein when suddenly…

A hand pulled me…

And…

When I search for the face…

It’s Victoria the Lant holder
