When Lu Xinyi came home with her husband, she was expecting to celebrate to eat and then have a good sleep; but would have known that Shen Yi was planning to do something else? So it turned out that he left an important meeting and just to watch her exams.

Shen Yi left her alone for a while as she played with Xiao Bai and her two Akita dogs in the garden. Once she was tired, she went upstairs to take a shower.

Sighing to herself, she stripped off her clothes before stepping into the shower. She was humming a song while shampooing her hair when the shower door opened, and hands came around her.

“Can’t I have my shower alone?” She groaned as his hands slid over her.

Lu Xinyi could swear her husband was smirking behind her.

“But you didn’t wait for me.”

“We aren’t supposed to have a shower together,” Lu Xinyi rolled her eyes and quickly finished her shower, leaving her husband alone in the bathroom.

She stepped inside their shared room with a white robe wrapping her form while trying to dry her long hair with a towel. Her phone on the nightstand rang, taking her attention. Picking up the call, she found that it was Yuan Jin who had called her.

“Hey, what’s up? I haven’t heard from you for days,” she greeted.

“I’m alright, Xinxin. We’re just finis.h.i.+ng some workload recently. Have Xia Yuhan called you?” Yuan Jin asked.

“Nope, is there a problem with Flair Apparel?”

“That woman…” Yuan Jin cursed under his breath but Lu Xinyi still able to hear him, “Sun Qiyan took the lead model she was trying to get to present her next collection. Now, she’s been bugging me to help her to find a new one.”

“How am I supposed to help her then? Even if she gives me a call, I can’t help her find a new one. Wait, what about w.a.n.g Zhuyi? Isn’t she enough for the next promotions?”

“Xinxin, Miss w.a.n.g isn’t enough. Didn’t you invest most of your wealth in Flair Apparel? If Xia Yuhan failed, you’ll also lose your investment,” Yuan Jin reminded her.

“So what should I do?” Lu Xinyi really had no idea how to run a business. Maybe she should ask Shen Yi’s help on how to properly manage Flair Apparel later.

“Aren’t you acquainted with Tang Lilou and Tang Liang? Their family owns Griffin Entertainment. It would be easy to find talent from them.”

Lu Xinyi hadn’t thought about it. Could she really ask a favor from the Tang Twins?

“I’ll see what I can do, but I’ll also give Xia Yuhan a call to check everything’s running smoothly on her end.”

“Good, but that isn’t the reason why I called you.” Yuan Jin confessed.

Lu Xinyi sat at the side of the bed and let Shen Yi took the towel on her hand and dry her hair for her.

“Then what is it?” Why did she suddenly felt like Yuan Jin was hesitating?

“Xinxin, I don’t know what really happened, but Meng Jiao is dead.” She heard Yuan Jin’s shaking voice on the other line.

Lu Xinyi froze, not believing what she had heard.

What? Meng Jiao was dead? How could it be? She’d seen Meng Jiao alive hours ago.

Her eyes drifted to Shen Yi who was still drying her hair. Shen Yi shook his head, informing her that he wasn’t involved in Meng Jiao’s death.

“How did she die?” Lu Xinyi asked. Although she really hated Meng Jiao, that didn’t mean she wanted her dead.

“She was involved in a car accident. I’m not sure about the details,” Yuan Jin said, “Xinxin, don’t blame yourself. It’s not your fault that she met an accident. Who knows if it was staged or not? She must have offend someone.”

Lu Xinyi understood what her friend met but still couldn’t accept the fact that her ex-best friend had died just like that. Who else did Meng Jiao offended besides the Sun family?

She clenched her fists on her side. That d.a.m.ned family killed someone again! Meng Jiao was just a chess piece they used against her, and once they deemed she was useless, they discarded her just like that?

“Thanks for letting me know, Yuan Jin. I also have no idea what happened.”

After a few more words exchanged and saying good night, Lu Xinyi cut the line.

Shen Yi noticed her sullen face after hearing the news about Meng Jiao’s death. Actually, Qiao He whispered to him about Meng Jiao’s accident and was planning to tell Lu Xinyi about it. However, he hadn’t thought that Yuan Jin would beat him to it.

“Are you upset?” He ran his fingers on her hair and let Lu Xinyi rest her head on his shoulder.

“She was my friend, Yi. After all that happened between us, I cannot ignore the fact that she was once an important part of my life.”

“Even if she tried to kill you?”

“Even if she did betray me,” Lu Xinyi added.

Meng Jiao was the first friend she had after attending middle school. The girl was kind and pretty, and she welcomed her with a smile. That would be the fondest memory Lu Xinyi had with her.

The hateful, jealous, and scheming Meng Jiao was something she wanted to forget. She would rather remember the sweet and kind Meng Jiao whenever she thought of her.

“Who do you think did it?” It was impossible that it was just an accident, just like Yuan Jin said.

If it was the Sun family, then she would add it to the list of grievances she needed to settle with them.

“Sun Feiyan.” Shen Yi didn’t dare to hide more secrets from his wife.

Of course, Shen Yi had asked someone to check who was behind it. If one was able to dispose of Meng Jiao that easily, that person could be a real threat to his wife.

“The one who schemed with her to let you get lost in the mountain was Sun Mingai and Sun Qiyan,” he added.

The huge amount that was deposited on Meng Jiao’s account didn’t come from Sun Feiyan or Sun Corporation. It could only mean someone from the family had sought Meng Jiao.

“So it was them…” Lu Xinyi laughed with sarcasm. “I think I need to teach Qiyan another lesson. As for my aunt, I’ll let you deal with her.”
