The upper part of the dress was pristine white that was designed to enhance the bosom and the waist without revealing much skin with a fitted cut; whereas, the skirt started as b.l.o.o.d.y red from the hem and gradually had its color fade as it moved upwards, leaving a nice gradient effect. It was also adorned with scattered pink flower blossoms.

Lu Xinyi could tell that the design itself had Xia Yuhan’s distinct touch. Based on the current collections that Xia Yuhan forcibly added into her wardrobe, Lu Xinyi had noticed some parts that could be attributed to the designer. The faded colors and flower blossoms could be particularly seen in Xia Yuhan’s designs.

“What a pretty dress. Do you like it?” Xiao Lan followed Lu Xinyi’s gaze. Her friend was staring at the dress without blinking and had thought it was kind of weird for Lu Xinyi. They were busy checking the shops while the twins were busy talking about the new toys they bought earlier.

Taking a look at the name of the shop, Xiao Lan hesitated a bit. The news that Starlight had been recently acquired by Sun Feiyan was everywhere. She wondered what Lu Xinyi thought about it. To her surprise, Lu Xinyi smiled at her and pulled her towards Starlight.

“Let’s go in and have a look,” she said, the twins trailing behind them.

Xiao Lan was confused; nevertheless, she let her friend drag her. Lu Xinyi walked inside the store, giving the mannequin one last glance before looking around. It felt more sophisticated and looked more expensive than Xia Yuhan’s store downtown.

A store attendant saw them coming in and welcomed them with a wide smile. It was so sickly sweet that made Lu Xinyi thought that the smile was already fixated on her face. Was it normal for these people to follow customers around, making sure their merchandise wouldn’t get shoplifted?

“Welcome to Starlight,” the attendant said. When she saw the Shen twins coming with Lu Xinyi and Xiao Lan, her smile faltered.

Starlight catered for young and career women, they didn’t make clothes for kids. She was tempted to ask Lu Xinyi to leave the store, in fear that the kids would ruin some of their clothes. There were so many customers coming in their store, and if Lu Xinyi and the children make scenes and problems, the attendant would rather a.s.sist some spoiled socialite girl than entertain them.

“Feel free to look around, but don’t forget to put it back where you take them. The cheapest dress in our collection costs fifty thousand, and if any of you make any damage, it will be considered as a valid purchase.”

Lu Xinyi gave the attendant a deadpanned look. What was she taking her for? She didn’t look like a beggar like Sun Qiyan claimed earlier. While that fifty thousand could be considered as her monthly salary before marrying Shen Yi, she could still slap this woman the same amount from her bank account. Maybe she should ask the bank for coins so she could teach them a lesson not to be rude on their customers.

After saying these mean words, the sales attendant lifted up her chin and scoffed. She then left to a.s.sist the other customers who arrived after Lu Xinyi and Xiao Lan.

“Wow, what great customer service they have,” Xiao Lan said with sarcasm. She knew that it was perfectly normal, but she’d never been the one subjected to those situations.

“Don’t mind her. She was just doing her job. Maybe they didn’t have enough orientation on how to deal with customers with a child.” She had guessed that the sales attendant refused to a.s.sist them because of the twins; but still, it was harsh and rude to say those things in front of the children.

“But I thought you like that dress.” Xiao Lan glared at the back of the retreating woman and frowned.

“I do, but do you think I’ll pay fifty thousand for a dress like that?” Lu Xinyi replied.

“What do you mean?”

“The dress lacks something. Maybe some alteration is needed to make it perfect.” Lu Xinyi took another dress from the clothes rack and inspected the material used on it.

“What do you know about dresses and fas.h.i.+on? Someone like you, who only knew how to sc.r.a.pe for food, knew nothing about it.” A familiar voice joined their conversation.

Lu Xinyi groaned. What the heck. Why was her b.i.t.c.h detector not working today? She should have known that Sun Qiyan would be here. Where else she was going when she met her cousin earlier? Sun Qiyan was probably working under the supervision of Sun Feiyan. The two might not really be in good terms, but they could fake everything as long as their inheritance was on the line.

She lifted her hand and covered her nose. Turning to her friend, Xiao Lan, Lu Xinyi nudged her elbow to get her attention.

“Can you smell that?” she asked. Xiao Lan blinked twice in confusion. What was Lu Xinyi talking about? She couldn’t smell anything bad right now, although she’d been complaining about the random smell her nose was picking up lately.

“Smell what?”

“I can smell a filthy b.i.t.c.h nearby. I think I’m going to puke.”
