Even before Lu Xinyi and her cousin arrived at the Amusing Plate Patisserie, Shen Yi and Qiao He had already finished their meeting with a client. Just when they were about to leave the VIP area, Shen Yi saw his wife entered the shop with a woman. He had no idea who the woman was but based on how they talk and interact with each other, the woman was probably close to his wife.
Shen Yi went back to his seat while Qiao He stood behind him and waited for his boss to act and save the young mistress. Wasn’t he going to greet his wife?
There was a thin part.i.tion between the VIP and regular tables and they could hear what they were talking about while the other party was oblivious about their presence.
When Xuan Shu insulted Lu Xinyi, Shen Yi’s face immediately changed color. He gave a ferocious stare at the old woman. He had not expected that his wife had endured a lot of abuse and disrespect from these people.
Qiao He who was waiting patiently to his boss broke into a cold sweat. This woman had no idea who she’d slandered. Shaming the young mistress in the presence of his boss, was she asking for an early death?
And then Gong Yijun and Meng Jiao came into the scene. This was the first time for Shen Yi to see Lu Xinyi’s old flame and ex-best friend.
“Xinyi, can we talk? Please listen to me.” Gong Yijun said tenderly.
Shen Yi felt a lump on his throat. How dare this man call Xinyi by her name so affectionately? No matter what kind of relations.h.i.+p they had before, Lu Xinyi was now his woman and he would definitely not allow this sc.u.mbag to touch her.
“Don’t touch me.” Lu Xinyi hissed and jerked back. “I might be a fool before but don’t you think it’s highly insulting to try and touch me when I caught you boinking my best friend?”
Her words came out bitter and harsh, which wasn’t she intended. But it was enough for Gong Yijun to take a full step back from her.
Feeling cold and a bit angry, Shen Yi put on his shades and strode towards the commotion. He pulled his wife to his side which surprised her. Lu Xinyi was taken aback. What was Shen Yi doing in a place like this?
“Xinyi, I thought you said you will resign and will come home early.” He then looked at Gong Yijun and Meng Jiao’s direction, his expression changed slightly although it was only Lu Xinyi who had noticed it.
She answered blankly, “I was about to go home.”
Meng Jiao took a good look at the man who suddenly appeared and talked to Lu Xinyi. He looked so das.h.i.+ng and rich. He emanated a presence like a king. The man looked familiar but Meng Jiao couldn’t point out where she’d seen this man before. It seemed that Lu Xinyi knew him intimately as the man had called her by her first name. Lu Xinyi didn’t even bother when the man held her waist.
Did she find another man too soon? What a s.l.u.t!
Feeling extremely envious seeing that Lu Xinyi allowed another man to touch her, Gong Yijun asked her with disbelief, “Xinyi, who is this man? Why are you with him?”
Lu Xinyi grinned as she pressed the side of her face to her husband’s chest.
“He is my husband.”
What?! Husband? Lu Xinyi got married as soon as she broke up with him? Gong Yijun could only stare in bewilderment as Lu Xinyi murmured something to the man. All of those who had heard Lu Xinyi claimed that it was her husband were astonished. They couldn’t believe what she’d said.
Gong Yijun looked at her and felt confused. He really wanted to be back with Lu Xinyi. He felt a pain in his heart. What kind of joke was this? Was she trying to hurt him? To make him feel jealous?
But he knew the Sun family was also trying to marry her off to some rich man which Lu Xinyi kept declining when they were still together. Did that mean that this man was Lu Xinyi’s fiance all along?
Even Lu Xiulan was surprised to see the man beside her cousin.
‘Wait. Xinyi said this is her husband so this means…’
Lu Xiulan suddenly chuckled before bursting into a fit of laughter while holding her sides. Now she knew why Lu Xinyi didn’t look heartbroken at all! How could she feel so down and pitiful if she had a husband looking like this? Gong Yijun failed in comparison. It was like comparing an emperor to a mere peasant.
