Chapter 602: Blew His Cover Unexpectedly
Huo Yulin did not expect his mother to get so agitated the moment he opened his mouth. He hurriedly stood up nervously. Since he was an introvert and not much of a talker, he parted his lips and scratched his head for a while before he said, “Mom, you didn’t give me the chance to finish. I am not planning to go back this time.”
Song Ning continued to sob a little as she looked at him with her eyes red. “Huh? Say that again?”
Huo Yulin looked at her and repeated himself. “I’m really not going back.”
“Then why is your suitcase so light?” asked Song Ning.
She was afraid that Huo Yulin was just saying it to console her.
“I do want to come home for good, but I need some time to finish the paperwork, so I didn’t bring everything back,” explained Huo Yulin.
Song Ning promptly said, “Then will you suddenly change your mind?”
“Since he has made up his mind to come home, he won’t change it.” Huo Jinyan sounded relieved.
Although his third son had spent three years abroad, he was keenly aware that Huo Yulin meant what he said.
“In that case, don’t bother going back this time. Your eldest uncle can help you take care of the paperwork.”
Song Ning had been waiting for her third son to come home for three years. Now that he had agreed to come back, she was terrified that he might change his mind.
The moment she finished her sentence, Song Ning fished out her phone from her pocket and wanted to make a call.
Before she managed to find the number, Huo Jinyan took the phone from her. “It’s midnight over there. It’s the wrong time to call.”
Song Ning kept thinking about how to make her son stay and forgot about the time difference. She slapped her forehead when she realized her mistake.
She asked Huo Yulin several times whether he was really home for good before she finally had peace of mind.
Then she got up and headed to the kitchen since she had been halfway through preparing soup before he came home.
Since Huo Jinyan noticed how emotional she was, he followed her to the kitchen.
Only the three siblings remained in the living room.
Huo Yao sat slightly further from Huo Yulin. She looked particularly adorable as she curled up on the couch quietly.
Huo Yulin could not help thinking about the time his little sister stayed at his place and kept a one meter distance between them. In hindsight, he felt that she might have done it thinking he was unwell because of his sickly complexion.
Huo Yulin went quiet briefly before he explained. “Yao, I am not sick. I just look pale from staying indoors for long periods of time doing research without any sunlight.”
Huo Yao was caught by surprise. She looked at him and felt at a loss.
Huo Yulin cleared his throat. Although he felt awkward bringing this up, he was a candid man. “... There’s no need to keep a one meter distance from me.”
Huo Yao finally realized what he was talking about. She raised her head with an ambiguous smile on her face as she glanced at her second older brother sitting across from her.
She remembered her stupid second older brother telling her to stay one meter away from her third older brother before she visited him. Huo Tingrui had said that Huo Yulin did not like people coming close to him.
Huo Tingrui could not help trembling when he saw Huo Yao suddenly casting a strange look at him.
One meter? A thought suddenly crossed Huo Tingrui’s mind and he promptly stood up. “Oh! I think I should go help in the kitchen.”
The moment he finished his sentence, he left the room at top speed. It seemed as though his life was at stake if he lingered for even a moment longer.
Oh no! Huo Yulin had blown his cover unexpectedly.
Huo Yulin perplexedly looked at Huo Tingrui from behind as he ran away in terror.
