"I don"t know if I can." Ariana said as she winced. "Stop being a coward and help them or they will all die!" Mirela yelled. Ariana paled, the pain in her body was worsening. "No Mirela. Even if I try to force myself, I don"t have the magically energy." Ariana said as sweat started to collect around her temples and rolled of her face. "TRY!" Mirela yelled. Ariana couldn"t do what Mirela begged her to do but she did have another option. Ariana closed her eyes and searched inside herself. She was standing in front of the podiums. Celest.i.te and Charoite were happy to see her. Andesine however was pouting in her clear, box cage. "I"m sorry Andesine. I want to free you too but you have to hold on a little longer." Ariana said apologetically to her red starburst. Andesine looked up at Ariana and sighed before turning her back to her. Ariana could only put her hand on the gla.s.s as an attempt to comfort Andesine but it was pointless. She walked away, walked past Charoite and stopped in front of her white starburst. "I need your help." She said as she looked at her white starburst. It was rare to see him not sleeping. He looked up and his big eyes started to water.
"I know... But I think if we work together we can save the Lumas." Ariana said as she reached out her hand. "Howlite help me." Ariana said. Without hesitation Howlite jumped into the palm of Ariana"s hand. Ariana opened her eyes. The pain was incredibly unbearable, she lost the strength in her legs and collapsed but Lobo held her up. "Let me... go.... and... back... up." Ariana growled in between gasps. Lobo looked in to Ariana"s eyes and saw they were burning with determination. Lobo nodded his head and gently placed her on to the ground.
"Howlite!" Ariana roared as she held herself up with one arm and struggled to bring up her right hand. Sweat rolled down her face in waves as she concentration her gaze on her hand. "Howlite please! I refuse to lose Vasu!" Ariana cried. A white orb started to form. "Take it all! Take it and give it to Vasu!" Ariana heaved as the pain started to worsen. The orb started to suck in light as it spun, growing with every second that ticked by.
Ariana"s face started to look worse as the orb grew, soon she looked ready to pa.s.s out. "B-bring h-him!" Ariana stuttered as she struggled to stay awake. The fairies were frozen in fear, no one moved. "Get out of the way if you can"t help!" Mirela yelled as she flew towards them at high speeds. The fairies flew to the side in a panic as Mirela through the sma crowd of them. Mirela fluttered furiously as she tried to pick Vasu up. "I"m sorry Vasu, bare with me for a moment." Mirela said as she let go and flew back a few inches.
She turned to him and spread her arms out in to the air. "Move! We don"t have time for theatrics!" Lobo shouted as he picked up Vasu. Mirela turned and blinked. Stunned that she didn"t think of using the companion first. Lobo laid Vasu in front of Ariana. He was fading fast, the fairies weren"t exaggerating that he needed to be given a constant stream of magical energy. Ariana gritted her teeth and slammed the white orb into Vasu"s chest. "Don"t leave me!" Ariana cried at the top of her lungs.
Everyone held their breaths as they watched Vasu"s limp body. Ariana"s eyes started to lose its light as she stared at Vasu"s motionless, tiny, plump body. She felt like her heart was ripped out of her chest as she stared. She was too late and time was up. "Ahhhhhhhhh!" She screamed up the top of her lungs as she arched her back, throwing her head back. Her nails started to stretch forward, fangs growing and tears spilled out. "Ahhhhhhh!" She screamed again as she started to slice at her flesh. The pain was nothing to what her heart was feeling at that moment.
Bulges started to form on Ariana"s back. The vines that had stretched out from her open wounds were already encircling her wrists and legs. Ariana cried her heart out as she reached her newly formed claws to her back. She dug her claws in and pulled forward. In one ma.s.sive swoop, wings spread out as she started to rip herself apart.
The pain of transforming wasn"t enough to drown out her heartache. She needed to make it worse but she didn"t know what to do. She brought her claws to her face. She held her head as each claw found a spot on her face and head. She started to press down when suddenly she caught sight of a tiny twitch. Ariana hesitated. She stared at Vasu"s body as her heart crashed against her chest. Vasu"s ears twitched. "Vasu?" Ariana called out as she moved her claws from her head and scooped up Vasu. "Vasu?" Ariana called out desperately as she watched his body. Vasu slowly opened his eyes and looked at Ariana.
"h.e.l.lo." He replied with a small smile. Ariana buried her face into Vasu"s body as she cried. "I thought I lost you!" She cried. "Not yet." Vasu replied with a gentle sigh. "The others." Vasu reminded right away. Ariana quickly let Vasu go and tried to compose herself. "Howlite." Ariana called out in a hoa.r.s.e voice. A white orb started to form above Ariana"s head as a xi symbol glowed a bright white on the far right of her collar bone.
"Cayden will get upset." Vasu said as he stared at Ariana"s new symbol. "I don"t care. If it saves you and the others then it"s worth whatever punishment I get." Ariana said happily as the white orb grew to the size of an ostrich egg and cracked open. A snow owl flew out and landed on Ariana"s left horn.
"Vasu, this is Howlite. He can absorb any power and make it his own. Can he borrow your magic? He won"t need a lot. He can amplify whatever you give him by three so you won"t get drained... It"s just a temporary thing until... Until I can change."
