〰 Khole 〰There was a soft knock that made me jump, the bags underneath my eyes only grown from the previous night of insomnia. I rubbed my eyes, realizing it was morning already before standing up and creeping over to the bedroom door.
I creaked the door open, surprised to find it was only Cade once again as he held two plates of food. My shock must be apparent on my face because he shifts uncomfortably and nods to enter.
"Right. S-Sorry." I quickly open the door, letting him inside while he entered the room with slow and cautious steps. He placed the two plate on the desk before seeing the painting he repeatedly puts on the wall, on the ground once again.
Cade slowly sent me a curious glance, no doubt asking about why I kept placing the painting on the ground. I walked over to the painting carefully before picking it up and placing it on the bed to show him.
"I-I keep t-taking it-t down because I-I don"t like it," I admit, hating that the gorgeous landscape was a mere lie rather than the truth.
He grabbed the notepad and wrote something down showing me. I read it quickly, realizing I spoke my thoughts about the landscape being a lie. An embarra.s.sed heat rushed up to my cheeks as I scratched my head.
"S-Sorry... I d-didn"t mean to ins-sult you." I mumble, not wanting him to take it the wrong way or else I"d lose my only friend here.
He shook his head quickly, flipping the pad and scribbling down something else. Cade showed me his kind words, telling me to not worry about it.
I sighed in relief before turning my attention to the feast he"s brought us. It looked delicious though I wasn"t sure what it was since I was not that in tune to foods. There were small fluffy brown things that almost looked like a mushroom and there were also a series of meats that I was sure was pork and chicken.
My heart warmed at his genuine nature when he handed me another plate and motioned me to grab what I"d like. I was hesitant, unsure what the brown mushroom would taste like and not wanting to grab the meat.
He reached down, taking a tiny bite of the small circle meat then placing it on my plate. Cade repeated this process with everything he brought, munching on the brown mushroom with delight when I copied him and took a small bite from my safe mushroom as well.
The delicious taste filled my mouth making me hum in approval, glad he brought another few mushrooms. It was sweet and the blue spots taste the sweetest, it even made me shake my head from the sudden sourness.
Cade seemed happy, finishing his mushroom before grabbing the stabbing stick and grabbing the piece of meat. I mimicked him, stuffing the mushroom in my mouth and taking the stick with the three s.p.a.ces making him chuckle and grab it from me.

He showed me how to use the stick, showing that the three s.p.a.ces were the side that was supposed to be used. Showing me how he uses it as I followed along and placed the meat in my mouth, groaning with happiness.
We do this, back and forth until our plates are empty. Cade took a small bite from another mushroom and handed it to me, knowing I loved these the most when I took it from him happily and took small bites trying not to stuff my face like last night.
Our moment was ruined by someone knocking on my door. Cade quickly stood up and motioned me to remain sitting down as I placed the mushroom in my lap. My hand twitched with the need to create a shield but I tampered it down, knowing he wouldn"t let anyone in I wouldn"t want to see.
He creaked the door open as I glanced between his legs and saw a few people at the door. My appet.i.te suddenly disappearing.
"Move, demon. I must speak to the witch. Do not interfere." A sharp voice speaks, clearly a woman and at the sound. Not a nice one.
Cade didn"t say anything, not like he could, before leaving the room. He reached around the doork.n.o.b, locking it when closing the door and leaving me alone. My heart dropped at the thought of him leaving me alone, but there was a loud bang followed by loud thumps that made fear course through my veins.
I didn"t think before running to the door and throwing it open.
Cade was monstrous, throwing a fist into a man"s face as the rude woman from before slumped against the wall. I stared, beyond shocked at his strength when he held the man"s throat in a tight hold. His eyes were a deadly black that frightened me, but it didn"t stop me from running to his side.
"C-Cade! St-Stop!" I yell fearful, pulling at his arm as he stopped for a moment. He let out ragged breaths, merely glaring at the quivering man beneath him when glancing back at me.
The look on his face told me he never wanted me to see him this way and that the only keeping him there was my touch on his arm.
Oh, his ever so soft arm-
"I guess a s.l.u.t gets loyalty." The man from underneath him croaks, his words making me flinch before Cade snarls once again and landed his fist into the man"s face. The man was knocked unconscious while I stared at Cade in shock.
He fought them because of me...?
I felt warm and fuzzy inside of me when holding Cade"s arm with both hands, feeling myself shiver in fear. Were there more people who thought the same way as these people?
If so, what were they going to do to me?
Cade snapped out of his anger, staring at me then the man. It was clear he was contemplating between beating the man more and taking me away from here.
I was more shocked when Cade hooked his arms underneath me and picked me off the ground, carrying me into the room and softly placing me on the bed. I shivered, not because I was afraid of his touch but because I wanted more.
Though he seemed to be in other places.
He motioned me to remain here, reaching into his pocket and placing a knife on the nightstand beside me. He caressed my cheek before leaving me there in the room with thoughts of him roaming in my mind.
Why didn"t he kiss me...?

I knew they were coming and what they wanted to do, but that didn"t stop the rise of anger rippling through me when I heard them knock on the door.
They thought that she"d be alone this morning, but since they spoke a tad bit too loud I was able to get here before them. The words they spat only made red come in my vision but I didn"t do anything other than prepare for Khole"s meal.
They are allowed to speak now, but if I get the chance to be alone with them...
All h.e.l.l will raise.
Khole may not deserve me but G.o.d d.a.m.n... I sure as h.e.l.l don"t deserve her.
Khole glanced at me, confused at the door knock when I stood up in a flash and motioned her to remain there. She held her m.u.f.fin in a tighter grasp, looking at me in fear as I walked over to the door and peeked out of it.
A man and woman stood there, the man looking like he"d just won a million dollars while the woman screamed strictly professional. I narrowed my eyes at them, remembering them from earlier.
"Move, demon. I must speak with the witch. Do not interfere." The woman"s sharp voice hurt my ears, unlike my wee Khole"s voice. I didn"t say a word, my throat itching to say f.u.c.k off but I didn"t.
Khole would be upset that I lied to her just to get close to her.
I made enough s.p.a.ce for me to leave the bedroom while locking the door behind me so they couldn"t enter. The man"s face morphed from the smile to a deadly frown.
Not a moment after the door was locked, I lunged forward and knocked the woman hard against the wall. Immediately she was out and her body slumped to the ground.
The man lashed out at me, getting a sharp kick in my stomach before I tackled him to the ground and landed raging punches at his face. I couldn"t keep myself from stopping as I heard the bedroom door fly open.
"C-Cade! St-Stop!" Khole screams, pulling at my arm that was punching the pitiful man who was bleeding on the ground. I was breathless from the fight and from her soft touch on my arm. The sparks had calmed me enough to look up at her.
She was staring at me with a horrified expression and I felt shame rising within me, hating she saw me do such a thing to the people here. I never wanted her to see me this way.
"I guess a s.l.u.t gets loyalty." The man I was holding against the ground mumbled, his s.a.d.i.s.tic smile only causing a snarl to run through me as I slammed my fist into his face. He finally slumped on the ground, going still underneath me when Khole wrapped both her arms around mine.
Even though I wanted to remain here and cause each of them to bleed more, I wanted to remove Khole from the carnage. She"s seen enough of this in her life.
I glanced up at her terrified, shaking form then down at the man. In all my life, I was never so happy that I was able to beat the living s.h.i.t out of someone. Not saying I was finished, just that I was finished for now.
I stood up, needing to hold her in some way while I hooked my hands underneath her and carried her into the room. She let out a soft squeak at my bold move but didn"t flinch away as I expected. Which was good.
She was so light that it worried me, but I had other things to deal with before forcing her to eat more.
I laid her on the bed, her shaking ceasing when I motioned her to remain on the bed. Cade was gnawing at me, not wanting me to leave her as I reached into my pocket and pulled out a small hunting knife.
I set it on the nightstand beside her, noticing she wasn"t looking at me in fear anymore but an unknown emotion that caused her eyes to darken. My hand acted on reflex as I softly touched her cheek and giving her a bit of warmth that I had.
She was truly... interesting.
I released her, feeling the need to kiss her but knowing it would only scare her more than she already was. Plus I didn"t want her thinking those people were right.
She was never a s.l.u.t in my eyes.
I walked out of the room, locking it behind me again and noticing Zavier and Nava out in the hall. Both of them glanced up at me in question when I grunted and grabbed the man, thrusting him over my shoulder before walking down the hallway.
"Go talk to him. I"ll handle the woman." Zavier tells Nava, the sound of the woman being dragged pleasing me more than his words.
"Hey. Wait up!" Nava yells at me, catching up to me quickly as she touched my arm tenderly. "What happened? Who are these people and why did you attack them?" She fired questions at me and I only stared at her, not particularly in the mood to answer her right at the moment.
"I fought them because they were spatting nonsense about Khole," I growled out, shrugging her hand off me and continuing down the hallway.
Both of these people were going to be the example.
Everyone would know not to go after my Khole.
"Zavier. Come with me. Nava get some rope." I barked orders, praying neither would go against it since I was close to shifting. It was not a good idea to anger a demon anymore.
Not in such a moment as this one.
"Alright. I"ll be back." Nava ducked down another hallway as I motioned Zavier to follow me downstairs and outside where everyone was currently at.
They all stared at e in pure horror and shock, Zavier following behind and speaking with his mate for a moment. I tossed the man in the center as Zavier placed the woman beside the man.
"Zavier, baby. You have to stop th-"
"Don"t my love. He is fragile right now and they threatened his mate." Zavier defends me when I knelt down to the woman who was slowly stirring awake.
Her dark eyes caught my dangerous ones as she glared at me before noticing where she was and who was bleeding beside her.
"Move and you"ll end like him." I snarled under my breath, daring her to anger me more than she already has.
However, to my displeasure, she remained still and glaring daggers at me as I stood up and saw Nava from the corner of my eye. I was about to snap at her for not getting what I desire but her mate, Ian had a hard expression on his face.
"Funem eos!" Levi shouts, the light blazing rope wrapping around each of them making me grunt in thanks. The other witches looked beyond surprised at Levi betraying his brethren but made no move to attack him. Not with Nava snarling like the wild wolf she was.
"I am going to only say this once..." I spoke loud enough for everyone around me to hear, looking at the people around me. "Do not. Come after my Khole." I warn, not leaving any discussion for it when using my authority in each of the words. "Or you will end up worse than these people." I threaten, the man groaning at the perfect time only to emphasize their fears in me.
Pleased with myself, I left them there when entering into the home once again. Wanting to return to Khole and explain what has happened, but I didn"t want to scare her any more than I did today...
What was I going to do?
