The moment Lyn entered the room however, she immediately noticed that Kazuya was no longer on the bed. He wasn"t anywhere to be found. Lyn felt a sudden chill in the air and looked towards the window. She immediately burst into tears, "Idiot, idiot!!" she exclaimed.....
Two days later Year 4014 Mist Kingdom - Main Castle - Gardens
Even with her brother"s strict lockdown mode. These days she"s starting to see more and more strange faces in the castle. At first Lyn thought she was just imagining it, surely this many intruders can"t enter the castle undetected right? But, when one of the ladies screamed thief - Lyn immediately chased after the person. Other than the knights, some other people staff are here too.
Lyn chases after the man, but it was natural with no weapon in hand she wouldn"t be able to get close. However even without weapons, a pa.s.singbyer catches the thief.
The thief struggles, but the grip of the other man is stronger. One of the thirds arm is twisted painfully behind him. "Kazuya?" Indeed she could not make a mistake, maroon coloured hair and those dark eyes.
Kazuya halted, "Lyn?"
A brief silence pa.s.sed between them, their gazes remained firm on each other, like they cannot look at anything else. The pause isn"t long, but it was enough time for the thief to try and break free from Kazuya"s arm. He struggled to do so, and raised his knife.
A hiss of pain escaped Kazuya"s lips. It was just a bit of blood, but when she heard his painful cry. Her body froze.
Kazuya winces and stepped bavkwards, a large trail of fresh blood trickled from a gash in his left arm..
"Kazuya!" Lyn rushed forward and before anybody can move. She fires a beam of magic and the thief falls to the ground. A relieved sigh escaped her lips, and she sends a quick message with her crystal. Lyn made her way over to Kazuya, "Are you hurt? No your hurt...but does it.." she knew she was fumbling with her words.
Kazuya shrugged, his lips curve to a slight smirk. "Relax Lyn, it"s just a cut… it"s nothing serious–" the moment he said that he winced in pain. Lyn rolled her eyes, what an idiot. What use is there trying to pretend with her?
Lyn took his hand in hers, "Regardless of what you think, your arm is bleeding," she reached over into her sachet and found what she was looking for. A white handkerchief. She pressed it onto his wound.
"Lyn –"
"Kazuy"
They paused, and laughed. How stupid, they actually spoke at the same time.
"Kazuya, I haven"t seen you since two days back."
"Indeed."
"It seems like you"re doing well."
"It"s… different from before, and it takes some getting used to but…" Kazuya winces when she tightened the knot on the makes.h.i.+ft bandage " Hey now was that on purpose?"
"It was," she"s slightly bitter that he left her hanging for two days. She wanted to take care of him, but instead he simply disappeared again.
Lyn, wanted to get mad but when she saw his face - all that anger faded into dust. "I"m glad your fine." And she means it, she does. Her thoughts broke off when Kazuya cupped her cheeks. Her eyes widened.
"Sorry Lyn."
….
"Did you get my books?"
"Yes, your tastes are odd as usual."
Kazuya gives her a wry smile, "Mmm."
"You know I don"t like existentalism. But I"ll admit I"ve read an article or two from the people you recommended me before. It"s strange how…" she paused, searching for the right word, "...how words pulls you in. Initially when I was reading it, I felt nothing but despair. Yet, at the same time, there was this overwhelming sense of freedom. Like I could do anything in the world."
Gee so much for having a clear mind set. She was already starting to sound like a weirdo. Then again her reading taste has always been something that was seen as unusual for a girl of her age. The general would often comment before that girl of her age really be reading "tragedies " with such interest and books based on what is forbidden.
The general too had made a comment on it, so this wasn"t new. "So really why are you here?"
"As I said before I am here investigating a case." He said before taking a long drag of his cigarette. Lyn blinked, "he normally doesn"t smoke around her." But then again, it"s probably become a habit of his. She shouldn"t pry too deeply.
"What kind of case..?" Her gaze was still harsh locked on his own. He chuckled after blowing the remaining smoke out of his mouth, the clouds of white drifting between the two.
"Not going to ask why…"
Lyn looked at him seriously, Kazuya may hide things from her but eventually he caves in. Sure enough, right now it looked like he was amid a serious debate in his head.
"About a month ago a whole town located in the South was wiped out. At the time I was there teaching as an instructor. Somebody heard about me doing odd jobs and thought I was the most suitable for this work."
Lyn nodded and left it at that. This small piece of information was enough for her, at least for now anyway. "Of course you would be the only one suitable…" Lyn mumbled. "And you? Aren"t you supposed to be in the middle of Princess lessons or something?"
"Uh, I skipped."
Kazuya laughed, "Then can I take you away?"
"No, I think I should head back… But I do have a few minutes," right after she said those words Kazuya pulled her into his arms. A content sigh escaped her lips. She always felt comfortable in his arms.
"Sorry about disappearing on you Lyn, but I was really worried that I"d do something bad to you," Kazuya sighed. "I know I promised you I won"t disappear anymore. But it"s really difficult for me."
"But it"s difficult for me too," she mumbled. "Kazuya, how about my feelings? You acted like that and then suddenly disappeared .."
"Lyn.."
"Are you upset about Rhys? I won"t meet him anymore, just don"t do that again. Please," she couldn"t help but cry.
