*UNEDITED*"Q--Queen Orthez..."
The aura around her was murderous causing the men to step back. However Orthez didn"t care about these people, and struck them down with a single finger. She walked over to where Lyn was, the child looked very frightened as she tried to stop the man called Rhys from dying. Orthez immediately wrapped her arms around the child.
"M--M-mother.."
"I"m sorry Lyn," she mumbled. She is so sorry for this child. She was a fool to think that locking her away, and not speaking to her would keep her safe from harm.
"Rhys...mother...Rhys is..."
Orthez nodded, the healing arts of the royal family are a secret. However, a bright yellow light appeared from her palm. It"s no secret that she has an ability similar to healing. Specifically, it"s magic that reverts what just happened. It"s a lot more complicated than healing magic. But this is one of the reasons why people fear her.
"This boy is in bad shape." Orthez thought as she continued to patch up his wounds. He must have gone through a lot for her daughter. After a few minutes, Rhys eventually stirred awake. The moment he moved, her daughter rushed over and hugged him.
Surprised and bewildered, Rhys didn"t say anything at first before commenting, "Hey, why are you crying? You look ugly."
"I was so scared, please.. Please don"t do that again," Lyn held onto Rhys tightly. "I don"t want o you to die saving me, you really scared me. What if something happened to you?"
Rhys seemed surprised but he gently patted the girl"s back. "I"m fine, I won"t go away either."

Mist Kingdom Main Castle - Queen Orthez Chambers -
"You look better," Orthez commented at the man who entered the room silently. "Though she detected him way before he got here." Now is not the time to boast.
Rhys bowed. He wore a complicated look on his face before he raised his blade towards her. Orthez isn"t surprised, nor did she move an inch. "You bear deep hate towards me."
"Yes."
"That"s understandable."
"But, I will let you go," Rhys mumbled. "I love your daughter, and even though you treated her badly for so long. You are still her mother, this is the most respect I can give you."
With those words said Rhys swiftly left the room. Orthez rubbed her forehead and sighed, "it seems like her daughter can"t escape that fate." But, maybe it would be fine. Unlike the men who liked her, those who like her daughter all seem to be reasonable men. They all care about her happiness, and even if she doesn"t pick them - they won"t resent her.
Orthez felt someone hug her from the back and sighed. "You just came?"
"Of course not darling, I had to deal with the people who thought they could harm our daughter."
Even without turning to look at him, the smell of blood became clear to her.
"Take a bath before you hug me."
Daichi laughed, "So harsh my wife," he kissed behind her neck.
Daichi is quite the romantic. His actions made up for the lack of affectionate moments between her and her first husband. Orthez shuddered when his hands trailed against her s.h.i.+rt. Due to the complicated clothing she wore though, Daichi struggled to get of causing her to chuckle. She turned around, intending to tease him. But when she saw the state of his face, she frowned.
"Daichi," Orthez said slowly. How will she lecture him this time? Why does he keep doing this? She brushed her hands across his cheeks. "You don"t have to harm yourself to protect the kids. That"s my role as the Queen."
"Then, can I get hurt trying to defend you?"
At that comment Orthez didn"t say a word, and just kissed him. Even now, she can"t do anything but this. She can"t tell him she loves him properly.
.....
After Daichi left her, Orthez felt even worse than she did earlier. Lately, she feels so guilty whenever she looks at him. She does love him a great deal, but why is it so difficult for her to express her feelings?
"Mother?" a quiet voice mumbled.
Orthez blinked when she saw her daughter peeking through the door way, "Lyn.."
"Rhys said he was going to talk to you, I was worried so..."
"He didn"t harm me."
A relieved sigh escaped Lyn"s lips, but then she s.h.i.+fted her gaze down onto the ground. Orthez walked over and pulled Lyn into her arms. "I"ve never held you like this before, but like earlier it felt familiar to me."
"Mother..."
"I will say it again, I"m very sorry Lyn for everything. You"ve had to suffer so much because of me."
At that comment tears welled up in the girls eyes. "It was okay, I was fine. I was lonely, but I was okay. You were only protecting me."
"Silly child, do not act so strong when you want to break down. Holding it in is bad for you."
For the next few minutes, they didn"t speak. But simply holding her child was more than enough for her. How many years did she long to hold this girl? Orthez wanted to so many times, to hold her child - the child of the second man she loved. But, when she saw that mark. Orthez knew the girl"s life wouldn"t be an easy one. She had to take drastic measures, that"s why she walked away like that. This action of hers caused people to misunderstand.
Hearing a knock on the door, Orthez looked up and saw that Rhys boy from earlier.
"Rhys? Why did you wait..."
He wrapped his cloak around her, "I didn"t wait, it was a coincidence."
Lyn laughed, "Was it?"
"It was, let"s go back. It"s cold here."
"Those two," Orthez gaze softened when she recalled something. "Remind her of that guy and herself." The first man she loved so deeply. She looked towards the window. So many years have pa.s.sed, but she has yet to truly forget. Daichi gave her so much warmth and comfort, she fell in love with him, there is no doubt there. But sometimes when she watches Lyn and Rhys, she recalls those times. The times she can no longer return too.
