The tablet now had a hundred eighty scratches which meant that Jiro had been here for over half a year now. At ten and three quarters years old, Jiro stood at just a little under five feet, but Kana was easily triple his height and her wing span stretched to about forty feet in length. Her wing feathers were grown out and the soft down feathers were only visible when the wing feathers got moved out of the way. The wing feathers were a dull rusty color that reminded Jiro of dried blood.Jiro knew that eagles learned to fly from their parents, but he didn"t know how to fly. As he was pondering on how to teach Kana to fly, he thought of an idea. He would put Kana under a Genjutsu and demonstrate how an eagle flies in order to teach her how to fly. As he was making the finer details for his plan, he noticed that Kana was on the edge of the nest. Jiro"s eyes widened while a red glow appeared. He lunged towards Kana intending to grab her, but she jumped off the nest, a determined expression in her eyes.
As Kana started to plummet while flapping her wings, Jiro ran down the tree, fully utilizing his enhanced body. His footprints sank into the tree forming indents as he sped down faster than Kana. Kana was not dropping fast because she was flapping her wings so Jiro got to the ground before she did.
Jiro then formed several shadow clones that quickly used water release to form a net of somewhat dense water. Water normally has a single density, but during the times of experimentation, Jiro found that chakra could be used to make the water tougher, turning it into a substance that could safely break a fall without collapsing.
Jiro watched with a slightly nervous expression on his face as Kana continued to flap her wings. She managed to slow the fall down even more, but she soon fell into the net of water producing just a ma.s.sive ripple. Although no water splashed around, ripples rolled across the surface of the net. Jiro did not know have any further knowledge on eagle flight so he just brought Kana up the tree in an impressive show of strength as well as chakra control. He figured that whatever Kana was doing was natural for the eagles of this realm. Therefore, he left the shadow clones down at the bottom of the tree for when Kana would try to jump off again.
Jiro stared at the sky while Kana jumped off again. Jiro knew that in his world, a baby eagle became an adult when it learned to fly. He figured that when Kana became an adult eagle, his mission would be considered complete. It would probably result in him being sent back home, but Jiro never heard of a summon lasting for over half a year so he guessed that he was somehow special to the eagle clan.
Jiro noticed that one of his clones dragged Kana back to the nest before disappearing into a bunch of smoke from a lack of chakra. He formed a new group of clones to replace the ones on the ground. Ten instances of catching Kana would drain the chakra of the clones so he would have to replace them after Kana jumped ten times.
Days dragged on as Kana continued to persevere and jump off the nest daily. Kana was normally expressive and the loudest in the vicinity of this area, but Jiro noticed that she stopped squawking and was only focusing on learning to fly. While Jiro would normally mess around and experiment with chakra while waiting, he could not risk running low on chakra when Kana was acting so obstinate in trying to fly.
As the days dragged on even further, Kana seemed to get even more determined during this time and jumped at a much higher frequency than before. Jiro also noticed her urgency and desperation as she tried to fly and he acknowledged her efforts. He had his shadow clones run while carrying her which drained their chakra at a faster rate. This also resulted in Jiro being forced to concentrate solely on recovering chakra in order to keep the shadow clones coming. While Jiro was recovering chakra, he was also being fed by the bees.
Although they did not develop any other bees with intelligence, not having to constantly fight had made their numbers surge allowing them to hunt even larger prey to produce more amounts of honey. Soon, they would be reaching a population where it would be unnecessary for Jiro to protect them. Even though Jiro would no longer be needed, Queen was still friends with Jiro so she provided him with honey.
The repit.i.tion was finally broken when Kana finally managed to start flying. Even though she was flapping her wings somewhat clumsily, she was gaining air and flying around the tree. She screeched triumphantly, but this time, her cry was met with a response.
Jiro"s clones had already started to run towards the source of the roar. As they got closer to the forest, they saw a tiger like animal running towards Kana. It was a light shade of forest green while dark green stripes went down its side. A mane of brown and green fur protected its neck and its ears twitched as it ran towards Kana.
The tiger had two long fangs that extended upwards from the bottom of its jaw while another two fangs extended downwards from the top of its jaw. It had a length of twelve feet from head to tail and it was about Jiro"s height. Although it looked somewhat smaller in comparison to Kana, it had just as much presence as she did. The clones were going to eliminate it, but Kana screeched while flying towards the tiger.
The clones easily understood that Kana meant to fight it with her own strength so they backed off. However, one of the clones dispersed relaying the information to the original. Jiro stood up and grabbed a small bowl which contained some honey that looked very concentrated. He quickly swallowed the honey and it began to refill his chakra reserves at a very fast rate.
Jiro began to flicker towards the forest while Kana was circling the tiger who looked angrily at her. Both of them were on their guard and not trying to reveal too much of their ability. Kana was trying to lead the tiger away from the forest so she could utilize her flying to the best of her ability, but the tiger was staying within the forest while roaring at her.
