Jiro sat at his seat with no expression on his face as the rules of the tournament were being explained. The tournament would not be just one fight, but it would be a series of fights. Everyone would be facing everyone else once in a fight. A win would result in one point while a loss or a draw would be zero points.

Every person would be called up and partic.i.p.ate in one fight where they choose their opponent. After fighting, they would sit back down. Another person would then go up and fight again. This would repeat until every person partic.i.p.ated in a fight against every other person. After the rules were explained, it seemed that sensei would be giving another speech so Jiro began to s.p.a.ce out again.

He was preoccupied with the thought of Kana"s full body chakra immersion. Jiro had checked the library as soon as possible and he found that what Kana and that dead ape had done was something that the Third Raikage of k.u.mo was famous for. Except, it was done with lightning chakra.

Even though Jiro wanted to copy what Kana had done, he held back because he wanted to give body modification one more chance. He mentally made a vow that if he couldn"t come up with something after a period of time, he would give up. When he finally paid attention again near the end, he heard that a prize would be rewarded to the winner of the tournament.

As the tournament raged on, Jiraiya sat at his left preoccupied by his conversation with Tsunade. Orochimaru was at his right, slowly turning the page of a book. Tsunade looked to be discussing something really interesting with Jiraiya as she was very vocal about it. While his two chattering teammates were creating background noise, Jiro continued to a.n.a.lyze the fights going on at the stage with his sharingan.

The Hyuga boy was up against one of the citizen boys who specialized in trap making. The boy had really worked on his agility and ran on the stage while the pale eyed boy pursued after him. Jiro was looking at the stage to see if he could spot the trap boy making some sort of device. Jiro figured that since the fights were decided by lot, the boy would not put any traps inside the stage.

Loud cheers erupted as the pale eyed boy suddenly sped up in an attempt to catch up to the other boy. Jiro spotted veins on the Hyuga boy suddenly become apparent as the boy started to attack with his palms. The fight that the citizens wanted never happened. The trap making boy just surrendered when it became apparent that he had no options for escape.

Admist a lot of noises of discontent, the proctor raised the hand of the Hyuga and announced him to be the winner. Some cheers went out to congratulate the winner, but most people seemed to be dissatisfied by the outcome of the fight.

Fight after fight rolled around, but Jiro never got off his seat yet. Fights could last from five minutes to just about half a minute. The rotations continued to go on, but Jiro did not face anybody yet. Even Orochimaru and Jiraiya decided to take the tournament seriously because of the notion going around that the winner would be awarded a prize. As such, they decided to avoid fighting by calling him up then directly surrendering.

Going to a tournament for a fight, but no getting into any fight was starting to irritate Jiro. When it was finally his turn to go up, Jiro looked at his limited selection of possible opponents and he realized that none of them were worth his time. A sneer formed across his face. After walking into the middle of the stadium, Jiro slowly began to look around to see if anyone would make eye contact with him.

Naturally, none of the civilians dared to make eye contact with Jiro. Everyone who had already declared surrender versus Jiro or never dared to face him looked away. Others tilted their faces away signalling their submission. The stadium was silenced as Jiro continued to loom over the partic.i.p.ants.

Only Orochimaru and Jiraiya made eye contact with Jiro among the partic.i.p.ants, but neither was willing to lose energy from facing him from battle.

A sigh was building up in his mouth as Jiro turned to walk off the stage. As he began to exit, a girl quickly shouted.

"Wait."

Jiro didn"t even bother to respond and continued to walk. The girl then continued with a statement that shocked almost all the audience present.

"I want to challenge you in a fight with only Genjutsu."

A short declaration that should have sent the stadium into cheers, but it seemed the crowd was shocked. Those preoccupied with their own activities stopped and stared. No-one had dared to challenge an Uchiha to battle with only Genjutsu. Furthermore, the fight would be even tougher facing against Jiro who seemed to be the second coming of Madara. Intrigued, Jiro stopped and allowed for her to walk up onto the stage.

A girl with red eyes walked up to the stage as the stadium finally erupted into cheers as the citizens applauded the girl for her bravery. Other higher ranking ninja watched as the girl approached. Some looked to be eager for Jiro to be challenged. Others looked on with nervous eyes for the girl. The best revealed nothing of what they were feeling as she got up.

The fight began with everyone eager to witness an epic battle. Jiro and the red eyed girl both shook hands before forming the seal of confrontation. Everyone was leaning on their seats before they all sat back in sadness. The audience quickly realized that this battle would be terribly boring to watch. They couldn"t witness Genjutsu or get involved in it so they had to wait for the fight to conclude.

Seconds after forming the seals of confrontation, the girl fell down to the floor coughing up a mouthful of blood. Jiro stared at the girl not sure how to feel. On one hand he was intrigued on why she would seek to test her mettle with the best. Unfortunately, she sucked. Sure she could pull any rookie or weak Chunin into a Genjutsu.

However, she was lacking in the imagination to really create a Genjutsu to make her own. She didn"t have enough mental strength to forcefully try and trap someone into a Genjutsu. Smaller chakra coils limited her input of chakra. She wasn"t ruthless enough to create a painful Genjutsu. But, she could potentially become someone that would be powerful if she was developed properly.

Jiro"s chakra was still lingering on her body so he decided to give her a hint. The girl was on the floor trying to pull herself up when she heard a voice echo through her mind.

"Go to the Kurama clan."

Nothing about the tournament except the girl was worth some of his time. Jiro left the arena and began to walk towards the forest where Kana resided. Upon witnessing his disrespectful behavior, a certain trio of elders turned to Sarutobi to say not their complaints, but their worries.

"Your Protege Jiro is the biggest time bomb in our village. He is never interested in working with others and only helps if he gains some sort of interest. In times of crisis, we don"t know if he will abandon the village or not. You say that Orochimaru has some darkness in him and that"s true. Jiro, well, he"s on another level. Instead of darkness, he is filled with apathy. He"d probably be fine letting the village burn if it meant saving those he cared for."

Danzo took advantage of the other elder"s concerns to voice his own plans. Both for Jiro as well as Orochimaru.

"Sarutobi, you know that I have been building a division of the protection for the village called Root. I say that you put Jiro and Orochimaru into it. They will become more loyal to the village than before."

A tired Sarutkobi stroked his already whitening hair before displaying all the authority he had with the t.i.tle of Hokage.

"Enough."

He stood tall before the other elders, treating them as subordinates, not his friends.

"Jiro and Orochimaru will not be put into your Root program Danzo."
