Jiro tossed a giant curved back and down while admiring it. It was larger than himself and extremely heavy, but Jiro could carry it with ease. He continued to absentmindedly toss it up and down but stopped after feeling a tap on his shoulder. It was Homura and she sat beside him on the tree branch while staring at the gloomy battlefield that was the land of Amegakure. While under the tree, the rain continued to fall and occasionally, a few droplets would pa.s.s through the cover of leaves and the duo. The sound of the falling rain was peaceful. However, it was interrupted by the sound of a weapon being released from its sheathe. Homura who pa.s.sed a katana to Jiro. It was easily longer than he was and shockingly thick as well. The b.u.t.t of the katana had a little keychain that connected to a metal tomoe.
Jiro lifted an eyebrow after taking a look, but he grabbed it as well as the sheathe which was a plain black with no pattern on it. He swung it a couple of times and the whooshing sound of wind generated by it caught him by surprise. It was a very loud weapon. He put the ma.s.sive katana into its sheathe before looking at Homura with confusion.
"It might take me a while to learn how to use this weapon proficiently."
"It"s ok. I"m sure it won"t take long. You always grasped anything combat related very quickly."
"Make sure to contact me everyday."
"Your friends would be shocked to see that a softer side of you exists. Especially after what you, Duy, and Teuchi did to Fugaku."
Jiro laughed as he recalled Fugaku"s enraged face at having received several romance novels as well as his wrath that followed. It was a sad day for both Teuchi and Duy as they had suffered tremendously despite also getting Fugaku a serious gift.
Jiro and Homura continued to exchange humorous stories while on the tree and admiring the view. Soon enough, the sun was setting and Jiro would have to leave soon. Homura got up from the tree and she briefly contemplated before leaning in and kissing Jiro before leaving with a smile.
Jiro was smiling, but when she left, his smile disappeared. His pervert detection senses had been going off the whole time. He also really didn"t appreciate that Jiraiya was intruding on his limited, but valued time with Homura.
"Jiraiya get out already."
"Ah man, you noticed."
Jiraiya walked out from under a nearby tree and smiled at Jiro.
"Ah, young love. How sweet."
"It would have been better if you weren"t here."
"Stop being so mean man. I came in order to give you advice on relationships."
Jiro looked at Jiraiya and saw that his face was serious.
"You"re being serious."
"Yes I am."
Jiraiya cleared his throat and contemplated before choosing his first words carefully.
"Relationships, are two way. There can"t be any one sidedness to it."
Jiro was going to ask some questions, but he noticed that Jiraiya was completely immersed in his own world so he continued to listen.
"If she acts like she isn"t bothered, but you know she is then decide whether you want to encroach or not. Sometimes compatibility is important in relationships, but other times it"s not."
Jiraiya was bitterly smiling and still immersed in his own memories. Jiro noticed this, but he figured that letting Jiraiya vent in a way would help him to move on.
"Others could say c.r.a.p about your relationship, but at the end of the day it"s between you two. Despite all that though, sometimes no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, no matter how hard she tries, no matter how hard you both try, the relationship fails."
Jiraiya had tears streaming down his face despite the radiant smile on his face. He began to shout not at Jiro but towards the horizon.
"That doesn"t mean it"s either of your fault! It just means that it wasn"t fated! However, the worst part is having to watch when she moves on and you can"t. You"re just trapped in the time when you were together and moving on is too hard! It sucks! It"s painful! It makes you feel like c.r.a.p, but some things aren"t meant to be. So you just gotta move on."
Jiraiya was breathing heavily with a relieved expression on his face. He felt as if he had dumped out a loud that was pressing down heavily on his heart. When he looked back at Jiro, his expression sunk. Jiro was sleeping on the tree, he obviously knew that Jiro was faking it, but his feeling of relief was dampened.
"That"s what you get for being so intrusive."
"You"re just a petty person."
Jiraiya ducked as the shuriken thrown by Jiro went past his head. Another object was thrown directly at him, but the paper on it convinced Jiraiya to catch it. On it were several seals that were meant to be placed in order to unleash an enormous explosion much larger than a typical explosive seal.
"Use them well Jiraiya. And stay safe."
"Haha, see you soon Jiro."
Earlier petty disputes forgotten, the two friends went on their separate ways. As Jiraiya was walking back to camp, he couldn"t figure out what the toad meant by their earlier message to beware of Jiro. He went to interact with Jiro to figure out what could be wrong, but he was fine except for his usual pettiness.
------
As Kana took off into the air, Jiro also contemplated on the hidden motives of Jiraiya for visiting him. He could tell that Jiraiya was present in order to look or make sure of something. He wasn"t sure what it was, but he wanted to know.
Jiro opened his storage scroll and pulled out several scrolls that he stuck onto bracelets which he then put on. After sending his Chakra through the bracelets, he instantly sank into the ground several inches as the weight on himself instantly reached very ridiculous proportions. However, it still wasn"t enough so Jiro sent more Chakra into the bracelet.
Jiro then finally pulled out the katana and stuck more seals that would increase its weight when Chakra was run through it. As he began training under the moonlight, Shinji walked up beside him and also began to train silently. Soon enough, the clearing was full of masked shin.o.bi silently training.
Up in the sky, Kana was also training with extra weights on herself while scouting the border for any signs of movement. The group not training was keeping a careful watch with several members having their Sharingan active. The training groups and scouting groups swapped when the sun was beginning to rise. Jiro continued to swing the blade and move about in a more domineering manner rather than the stealthy approach of shin.o.bi as he got more used to the style of fighting that would accompany a weapon such as the katana.
