"The more I get to know you, the more you surprise me, Stephen Willow," said Grace, watching him leaf through the packet."Why"s that babe?"

"You know the vast majority of people would have just taken the easy way out, and wished for the better body right now. Yet, you didn"t. I"m still trying to figure out why."
Stephen set the pamphlet down on the table and sat on his bed. He motioned for Grace to come over, too, and she softly slipped into his lap, straddling him.
"I thought about it. I really did. It would be so easy, and effortless. But then I started to think. And words that my Grandpa told me a long time ago started to ring in my head. He said, "Nothing worth having in life comes easy." He"s right, though Grace. What would that do to me, or to my character, if I just started wis.h.i.+ng all my problems away? Nothing good, I would say. Life would become too easy, and I"d be too complacent, and turn possibly arrogant or duplicitous. That"s not the kind of person I want to be."
"But instead, I"m choosing to use your powers towards the same goal, but in a different path. The biggest part with losing the weight was weeding through the bad advice and finding a program that would work. And your wish just gave that to me." He tapped the pamphlet for emphasis.
"It"s still going to be hard work, I know that. But I want to do it the old fas.h.i.+oned way. So when I get there, I have a real sense of accomplishment. And the discipline that goes with it. I think that was the true meaning of Grandpa"s words."
Grace just listened, and with each word, her smile grew larger, "You"re a very rare person, Stephen." she repeated for the second time today.
"Some would say foolish," Stephen laughed.
"I don"t think so. I think you are wise beyond your years. All of your time spent with your grandfather has clearly rubbed off on you," replied Grace, leaning in for a gentle kiss.
"Well, as long as you don"t think I"m foolish," smiled Stephen.
