He uses desire as a trap, he uses blood as bait, he uses his appearance as a disguise. Like a wolf, he hunts for prey in the shadows.
A serial killer who targets other serial killers. The FBI doesn"t know whether they should adore him or despise him: "Well, needless to say, we can"t accomplish what he"s been doing. He"s done the work of many police officers; he"s never even received half of a salary from the government, but he still never slips up. Can we hire him?"
"That"s enough, he only does it out of his own interest, not justice. He isn"t any different from those other perverted b.a.s.t.a.r.ds: always taking pleasure in killing someone. One day, I"ll arrest him!"
He hardly cares about other people"s opinions or the media"s evaluation of him. He gives retribution, takes an eye for an eye; he lives by his own will, as a reckless loose cannon.
He picked his own codename: Sha Qing1.
1Sha Qing translates into "The Last Killer"; however, for the sake of this story, he"ll be called "Sha Qing", and you"ll see the reason why later on.
Now! Before you guys read on, I"m just going to say something right now because I"m sure many of you don"t read any translator"s notes at the end of each long chapter. AND DON"T SKIP!!! First off, new project, so yay! But that"s not entirely relevant to what I"m about to say. I just want to give a fair warning: This is a BL novel and it covers mature themes, not just limited to h.o.m.os.e.xuality; so, proceed with caution if you will.
Second, I would like to remind you that this is just a novel that the author wrote, and I am only translating it. Whatever is being mentioned or said, anything that seems to be offensive, crude, insensitive, etc., is not the author"s true views or the translator"s own thoughts. The author is basing things from all the American television shows she"s watched—she seems to be a huge fan of American crime dramas. And, as you may know, many crime series tend to divulge darker and more mature themes, and put into consideration that this is also BL; there will be a h.e.l.la" lot of cursing, there will be a lot of offensive s.h.i.t, and there will be crime, gore, rape -of course, there are only case mentions in the pa.s.sing for this novel—, murder, h.o.m.os.e.xuality, male on male s.e.x, stereotypes, discrimination, etc.
Regardless, I am translating this novel because it"s, frankly, AMAZING! I, personally, do not find this novel to be too concerning when it comes to the issues mentioned above, after all, most novels—not merely CN or JP, but all novels in general—do touch upon these subject matters one way or another. But, of course, I must put out a fair warning just in case. So, that"s just a reminder.
Please don"t bash the author or me; I apologise if anyone takes offence to what is being written. Remember, a fantasy novel should not always be likened to reality; don"t a.s.sociate the thoughts or actions of any characters in the novel to the thoughts or actions of the author (or translator), unless stated otherwise.
All that aside, for those who insist they do not like this novel and are completely against it, it"s as simple as this: Don"t like, don"t read. As much as I would love for you to enjoy this as much as I did, if you truly despised the first chapter of "The Last Killer/Sha Qing", please don"t continue to the next, since the second chapter and following are when stuff actually go down.
Thanks, guys!
