Siana

Chapter 51

The hospital was in chaos today. Seeing so many bodyguards with fierce expressions, everyone was interested about the mysterious patient of the neurosurgery department. Whoever this patient was, he was no small fry for sure. He made sure that no patients other than him were present on the same floor. He was attended by the head of neurosurgery department as well as the CEO of the hospital himself. He wasn"t the president, but the security measures taken for him were even stricter than that of the president.

Unlike the rest of the hospital that couldn"t help but inquire about the mysterious patient, everyone on the same floor as the patient was standing still, with cold sweat dripping from their foreheads. All of them were anxiously looking at the door as if the door represented their door of salvation.

Sia, however, was clueless to the happenings of the hospital. The moment she entered the hospital, the receptionist literally jumped from her seat and told frantically,

"Dr. Illes, you are finally here! Please hurry to the head neurosurgeon"s office on the seventh floor."

Sia slowly took her earphones off, and looked at the receptionist with a puzzled look.

"Sure!"

She walked quickly to the head neurosurgeon"s office. She found the events a bit weird. She double-checked her pager, but saw that it was charged and there had been no calls for her. She had been listening to a song before so if anyone had called her she would have noticed. So, why was she to hurry if no one even informed her of any emergency?

Perplexed, she reached the floor entrance only to be greeted with a pair of st.u.r.dy bodyguards blocking her way.

"This floor is closed. Leave now," one of the bodyguards said expressionlessly.

"I work here," Sia answered calmly. Taking in the few clues given she could roughly guess that they had a patient with an unusual background.

The bodyguards were a bit surprised by the young woman"s impa.s.sive reply. She didn"t seem to be faking it, but rather, she seemed to be completely unfazed by their imposing auras. No, it was more correct to say that her aura was even suppressing theirs. Her movements were elegant and there was an air of determination about her that not just anyone possessed. Both bodyguards had the same evaluation of the young woman: she was anything but ordinary.

The bodyguard talked again, but this time in a more respectful tone;

"Miss, there was no order to let you in."

Sia nodded her head. Those men were simply doing their job, she had no desire to make things difficult for them. However, instead of leaving she picked her phone and made a call while in the presence of the bodyguards;

"Hi Dr. Brown! I can"t enter the department...umm.. ok! I"m waiting here."

In a few minutes the door was opened from the inside, and nurse Clara and a man came out. Seeing Siana, Clara quickly let out a long sigh and rushed to her side.

"Gentlemen, this is Dr. Siana Illes we have been waiting for. Please let her in."

Hearing her words the man that came with Clara had a bewildered look on his face. Wasn"t the doctor supposed to be someone with hands of gold and years of experience? How could it be such a young woman?

The bodyguards though were not so astonished. Their looks of surprise soon changed into that of understanding.

"No wonder she didn"t make a fuss and was instead so confident."

The bodyguards looked at the newcomer man waiting for his command. The man, however, was still unconvinced.

"Sorry, miss, but could you please prove your ident.i.ty."

"Sure," she said and took out her ident.i.ty card from her purse.

The man took it and a look of astonishment appeared on his face.

"You are only 22?"

Sia chuckled at his questioned and simply said,

"Sir, you know that it"s impolite to ask a woman of her age?"

The man"s ever stoic face had a momentary crack on it but he quickly restored his expression. He returned her ID with a slight arc on his lips,

"Sorry, it was just unexpected that the Dr. Illes, Dr. Brown and the CEO have been praising since we came here, was so young."

He nodded at the bodyguards and gestured for Siana to come in.

"No problem at all. I get suspected of my ident.i.ty quite often."

She smiled at him. Her tensed shoulders relaxed a lot: looked like the patient was not in a critical condition or else they wouldn"t be so relaxed. Seemed like there was no need for her to rush them or to run around.

As the doors to the neurosurgery department opened, the neurosurgery staff members inside loudly let out the breath they were holding. The tension from before was gone and now was replaced with sincere smiles at the sight of the "angel" of their department. Sia couldn"t help but smile back at them bemusedly. This patient, whoever he was, surely had put everyone on a tight spot.

The man on her side was observing her since he met her. It was about five minutes walk from the entrance to the room so he had time to evaluate her more carefully. When the doctors were talking about her, everyone had a look of admiration and appreciation for her. They wouldn"t stop describing how talented she was and how much she could change the course of the surgery for his dad. He would have never expected that that revered doctor was but a girl who was much younger than him. There was only one thing that could explain the situation: she had to be a genius. Remembering all the praises and seeing the relieved and happy looks of the staff members, his opinion of Siana became even better. Being a genius was one thing, but being respected and liked by others was a completely different matter. Seemed like it was a right choice to wait for the girl.

The bodyguards at the room opened the doors for them. When they entered, Sia noticed that not only was Dr. Brown present, but also some of the attending neurosurgeons and the CEO himself. She shifted her gaze to look at the man leaning on the black leather chair that was originally supposed to be the doctor"s seat. He was a man of about 50 years old, with a strong intimidating presence that could not be ignored. There was a scar on his left cheek which combined with his thick brows and sharp eyes gave him a fierce look. His eyes were deep and filled with years of experience. No wonder everyone was so fl.u.s.tered: the sight of the man was enough to realise that he was no simple man at all.

While she was a.s.sessing the mysterious patient, the man was similarly examining her with an apparent interest in his eyes. There was even a slight glint that pa.s.sed through his eyes when he saw her composed and unperturbed look. It had to be known that not anyone could remain so calm at his presence. Moreover, being able to become a neurosurgeon at such a young age, no wonder those old men were so proud of her and wouldn"t stop boasting.

"h.e.l.lo," she greeted the people present in the room. They greeted her back but did not say anything else. There was an awkward silence in the room.

Seeing that her colleagues were reluctant to speak up and wouldn"t explain what was going on, she shifted her gaze at the patient and smiled,

"h.e.l.lo sir. I am Dr. Siana Illes. How may I help you?"
